Why hasn't there ever been an attempt at a warhammer 40k fighting game? There's a ton of characters from named space marines, eldar pheonix lords, commissario, various ork weirdboys and warbosses. Hell, there could be a "guardsman" character who gets like 10 lives and is made of paper but can call artilliery strikes.
The only problem I could see is the size difference between characters like primarks and the ones that are more human sized, and that the prevalence of guns in the setting might result in a ton of zoners.

Hi.
Been seeing A LOT of fighting game related content recently as it's seeping into my feed/sphere mainly due to the overlap between LoL and 2XKO. I've had some passing interest in them over the years but I've always put off playing them "seriously" with excuses "too hard", "too old (36)", EXPENSIVE (they kinda are especially when you're a non-whale F2P).
I've played them before starting with Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat for SNES - and then Tekken 3 for PSX. I've played a bunch of other stuff occasionally at like a friend or family member but nothing worth noting except Mortal Kombat X which was the first "modern" Mortal Kombat I played in decades and it left quite the impression on me.
What game is currently worth picking up? Looking at the most popular ones, they all seem to be in the middle of their life cycles? Of course I'm kinda wanting to go for Riot's game - but that isn't out yet.
I guess just by numbers Street Fighter 6 is the most approachable and likely has the most beginner players? They also have the modern input to make things simpler? It's not like I don't know how to throw a fireball or do the uppercut but doing them consistently has always been difficult. Tekken 8 looks cool but I kinda have a bad track record with it due to my relative and friend ALWAYS beating my ass in them.
I know there are a bunch of popular anime fighters but they also have the reputation of being super technical and hard to pick up. Also tend to have really small player bases?
Kinda sad to hear lots of people shitting on Mortal Kombat these days.

Interesting. I'm not really versed in Ghost Rider, so I dunno what's the consensus on him, but it's neat that Robbie is getting some love in both this and Community Edition as of late. Also, man that VA for Spider-Man sounds familiar, but he's not either of the guys I thought he was, and apparently only has a few vidya credits

Chun has been tickling my lab 'tism just right desu. I've gotten to where I pretty much hate playing randos, just a miserable experience win or lose, but I'll play the odd times it comes up in threads or with my former coworker. Otherwise I mainly just look for tech. Chun suitably seems like an okizeme monster, with some straightforward frame kills for safe jump off hkd. The game's longpress also makes said frame kills feel really organic; it's pretty easy to time your presses early so you're always getting the soonest possible interval. And I'm SO fucking glad she didn't carry over her stance change from SF6. After Ken dropped and he was so similar, I was convinced she would, so I was pleasantly surprised.

I just finished a DR match today, connection was pretty stable. Only downside is that there are only certain times when there people playing it which makes it a discord fighter. On an actual ps3 I am not sure because I don't own one but all in all it's a good experience.

o Behavior tweak: 1st input's timer now stays at the maximum value while the 1st input is being hold.
REASON: I am doing this to all non charge special moves. This fixes a problem that affected even the best players on the world regarding walk in DPs: depending on the timing you go for downward (2nd required input for a DP), a walk-in DP would always fail. Lemme explain: on the 1st frame that you input towards (1st required input for a DP), the input COUNTER will be updated and the input TIMER will receive a value that will be decremented on each frame (this is the input timer, this was semi-random on unmodified ST, but is now a fixed value on my hack), meaning you have up to 6 frames to input downwards (2nd required input for a DP). If you input downwards before that timer reaches 0, the counter will be updated again, the timer will also receive a new value again and will then wait for the 3rd input direction required (down-forward). But there's a problem: if you spent all these 6 frames walking forward and then input downward on the 7th frame, the input window will not be increased because at that moment the DP input counter would be back to 0 and is now expecting the 1st input direction again. If you do it on 8th frame it will work though. And that's only considering a frame perfect scenario, a human player will spend more than 1 frame to go from forward to down so there are more than enough chances of missing. So that means that walk in DPs will fail around 10%~20% of the time, not even the Grand Masters can avoid this fact.
With my change, this problem is solved: it's now possible to be 100% consistent with walk-in DPs. I also applied this same change to all non charge special moves as well, since there isn't really a reason to not do it. Normal anti-air (stationary) DPs are not any easier though.

Daimon is fearsome in 98 despite being the closest to a "traditional" grappler there is in this game and it comes from both, KOF's wonderful universal mobility and bro having some sick buttons.
He does a lot of damage and doesn't struggle as much as grapplers traditionally do in other games.
