at least this one isn't waifu sloppa
i like that you don't even need to interact with any transactions or anything to completely enjoy the game
the only monetization here are cosmetic shit like clothing and special throw styles that i don't care about

no pay to win, no gacha
you simply explore the open world for whatever monster you want to catch like pokemon games, battle them and catch them
there are free cosmetics and paid cosmetics
paid cosmetics are usually styled after a certain monster line
there are also throwing styles for certain monster lines, so for example the player will perform a certain pose only if you own the throwing style and send out the monster it's for
there are other cosmetic items like profile avatars, ball seal animations (similar to ball seals from gen 4 pokemon games), backpack charms (decoration for bags similar to the trial bag charm from gen 7 pokemon games), wand styles, etc
there are also special capture balls that apply a "shiny" to the captured mon or some other pattern
none of this affects the gameplay or stats, it's all purely cosmetic
even pvp balances all mons to certain level, i'm not sure what it does with stats, i assume it just neutralizes everything
the developers explicitly said they don't want to incorporate any paid advantages
overall, it's looking like a decent alternative to pokemon
it's got the celshade outlined artstyle that i miss, plus the world design is competent unlike nintendo games
the monster designs are a hit and miss though
some are great, some are meh, but that's just me
i doubt it'll release for global anytime soon though
the ip hasn't been outside china so it'll require localization and i'm not familiar with how long that could take

forgot to add
there's also a battle pass, but it doesn't contain anything that would give unfair advantage
i think it contains extra costume coupons that can be exchanged for some slightly premium freebie cosmetics, extra exp materials (exp is basically feeding fruits to monsters, fruits are also tied to stats i think, these can be found all over the game world), extra balls (these can be crafted through ores collected in the game world), special balls, cosmetics, etc
there are two versions of passes and they contain a monster each, which can also be obtained by players who don't purchase the pass through a mechanic where you place a monster acorn in an owl shaped monument that attracts more of the species

i remember seeing a trailer of this game what feels like a decade ago
ill give it a go for sure once its in english. if it ever will be. any alternative to pokemon deserves any help it can get, they need some competition.

wonder why Tencent didn't make this a gacha, they would get away with it

these seem completely insignificant for me
i just don't care much for flashy clothing
also i'm glad it's not gachaslop because the tendie trannies on /v/ would never stop bitching about it if it were since they only want more ammunition against games that dare to oppose shittendo™

>60m+ pre registrations in china alone
>4.66/5 rating with 74k reviews
>packed with content
>tons of collabs already
yeah, this is gonna be huge once it launches globally
the reception is overwhelmingly positive and there are no controversies besides locking certain clothing behind transactions
the creature designs could be better though
like the other anon said, there are enough generic blobs already, i hope they make more varied monster designs

if these people want the ip to become a behemoth like pokemon, they need to focus on merchandise
just analyze which ones are fan favorite mons, shit out endless plushies of them, shit out trading cards and watch them make bank off it
while an anime series would also help, merchandise is easier to produce and way more profitable

tencent will rape nintendo's ass if they try it
besides, tencent already handles pokemon unite, so it'll be quite funny to see how things turn out between the two
>rip off pokemon
that's exactly why it's one of the few good pokemon competitors
soon developers will realize pokemon is a good franchise in theory, just nintendo and lamefreak are clowns who handle it with little care in practice
