Nice haunted thread
What’s the platinum medal you never expected to get? I didn’t even realize this WAS a medal until after I finished the research that involved the thing

I got the 99 raid pass for 5.4k coins box but I don't even know if I want to pick it up, I've still got 15 green passes left
How quickly do you guys burn through green passes? I kinda feel like my coins would be better spent on remotes
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>58948263
15 passes is genuinely nothing man.
>How quickly do you guys burn through green passes?
Probably like 1-2 hours tops during big events with the local community.
>I kinda feel like my coins would be better spent on remotes
They would definitely NOT be better spent there. However, this greatly depends on if there is a local community near you. If there is, get the green passes.
One thing to note is that the upcoming Tour is shaping up to be kinda ass if you already had good megas, so the 15 green passes might be good enough for this event.
>>
>>58948540
I get what you mean but like every recent raid day we've had gives the free raid passes, 6 (free) +7 with tickets (which I usually do buy)
Are the green passes better value than the ticket that gives you extra gym passes?
>>
>>58948574
>every recent raid day we've had gives the free raid passes, 6 (free) +7 with tickets
Btw, if you save the daily raid pass from the day prior to the event you can get an extra free raid there
>Are the green passes better value than the ticket that gives you extra gym passes?
They might, but the extra goodies you get from the paid raid day tickets outweigh the extra pass you might be getting. Also, buying coins is a slippery slope.
Adding to that, there are some must-tryhard raid days where you are almost guaranteed to need a lot of passes such as Mega Fug/Primals, Origin Dialga/Palkia, the Necrozma fusions or the Kyurem fusions (even more so if you wanna be able to level up your mons).

I last played nearly 5 years ago, and recently I felt like coming back, because I have a lot of free time and feel like a lazy bum.
But there's new things I'm confused about, and old things I've forgotten or which may have changed drastically. Checked the FAQ pastebin but it seems a bit outdated (no mention of max battles, routes), so I have a few questions:
>clearing out the Pokédex?
I'm at 2020/2075 pokemon, so I need to get rid of a lot of shit to resume catching. But I remember it being a problem knowing what to keep, and what could have niche uses in some niche PvP bracket.
Has anything changed, would I need to re-evaluate all my old shit, and would I use the same methods (IV scanning apps) as before?
>Max Battles
That's the question, basically the entire thing. Are they worth engaging with? It brings me back to the problem of getting more niche pokemon for niche uses.
>sizes
I remember hearing about this change, but little else. Are pokemon sizes relevant anywhere? Besides being more fucking things to tag and filter in the pokedex. All this metagaming shit is what made me stop playing last time.
>>
>>58949165
>storage, pvp
Probably the same. I don't do pvp myself but from what I know pokegenie is still the scanning tool you should use. Maybe look up a youtube video or something
>Max Battles
I do really like GMax - if you go to a local community ambassador meetup (download campfire) at exactly 2pm or 1:55pm on Gmax days you could probably join with a wooloo and still get the gmax pokemon, then you can build out a proper team
DMax legendaries are cringe though, so unless you know 3 people irl (or 1 other person and you both play on two phones=4 accounts total), don't bother unless you have all the pokemon
>sizes
xxl/xxs each have a platinum medal you can earn (You need platinum medals for one of the quests to level up between 70-80), though this is one of the harder ones to complete
XXL could be useful to keep for showcases if you want to win showcases, which can give stuff like lucky eggs, star pieces etc if you come first. But besides from showcases they don't have much purpose
BTW keep your oldest pokemon (2019 or older, maybe even 2020), go make a second account on an old phone and catch some stuff, then trade yourself. Take advantage of the guaranteed lucky trades for pokemon before 2020 (might be worth double checking the exact cutoff by searching online) and get some easy hundos or even shundos
Also get an autocatcher
>>
>>
>>58948263
i don't get autistic for ivs, backgrounds or shinies, so not very fast. only time i'll go on a spend spree though is if i REALLY need rare candies and the legendary in the pool gives a lot, OR there's a fusion energy pokemon in the pool
>>
>>58949165
>But I remember it being a problem knowing what to keep, and what could have niche uses in some niche PvP bracket.
go to dialgadex and just pick w/e s tier attackers for each type you want to pursue in regards to pve.
for pvp, just check rankings per league in pvppoke
>>
>>58949176
Thanks anon. Got the app, and have been comparing any that have good PvP IVs to the site (I figure that even if it has good stats, but it's rank #500+, I should probably still get rid of that shit). Made a good dent in the pokemon collection, but there's still 1500 or so to go through. Then I'll go through whatever I kept once again.
I'll probably end up deleting some things I should have kept (evolution fodder for medals for instance) but I just want this shit done man, I'm going nuclear
>>58949304
Thanks for the tip for PvE. I'll just keep whatever has especially high IVs, then check those mons against the rankings and see if any are worth keeping. I imagine my previous usual picks for raids are a bit dated (regular Mewtwo, Dragonite, a Magnezone, Gardevoir...).
>>
>>58949319
>dated (regular Mewtwo, Dragonite, a Magnezone, Gardevoir...).
>mewtwo
best psychic attacker in the game if shadow. if not, then yeah it's average.
>dragonite
it's alright if it's shadow
>magnezone
throw it in the trash once you get better electric attackers
>gardevoir
amongst the best fairy attackers in the game. probably the best fairy attacker if you mega evolve it
>>
>>
>>58949325
>>58949328
I wish my zacian had a fairy fast move, it's criminal
But yes both gardevoir(shadow, or mega, or even regular) is a solid fairy type and also psychic too

Max battles are a failed feature for a few reasons, most notably for not allowing your old catches to take part in them, therefore you won't find many people to participate. On the bright side, there's little reason to care. Most of the time there is nothing worthwhile to battle. Once in a while Toxtricity comes around if you don't want to farm 400 candies to evolve Toxel from eggs. Duraludon was kind of a max battle release but also available from field research during that event. Eternatus was trickier because it was in a special event battle pass, and you would score the most points by doing its gmax battles (which, unlike the rest, don't let you catch the boss). Technically it wasn't necessary to do as points were obtainable elsewhere, but that was the fastest way if you had access to a group of up to 100 players doing them. I spoofed myself for Eternatus and was done caring.
>>
>>
>>
>>58949459
>On the bright side, there's little reason to care.
That's a relief, and also the general vibe I got from a quick look online. I didn't really want to get a whole new set of pokemon for something else.
>less than 900 pokemon remaining (~1100 transferred so far)
Soon..
>>
>>58949459
max battles only happened because they are so stingy with raid passes outside of this battle pass event that gives two per spin so they made raid-lite to placate the playerbase that doesnt get to raid enough unless they bend over backwards. max battles are the fallout, not the failed feature. its the bandaid on a gaping wound of a game they refuse to bring in anyone with fresh ideas/views to fix.

I would at least suggest you partake in Gigantamax raids with your local community (found on the Campfire app). You will get a better than normal shiny boosted mon with a cool alternative form + a lot of dust and experience. Also, Max battles aren't that bad once you get the right mons, but getting those requires someone to trade them to you or for you to get them yourself (tedious).

>1700 Pokémon transferred
One final sweep and I can play the game... Not even going to try with the inventory, I'll just delete ~30% of my berries or something.
But one final question, it warns me when transferring XXL pokemon so I kept those. Are they actually relevant, should I bother keeping an array of them? Or is one one or two for showcases (I forget how they work) fine?
Also I lied, one other question:
Are little cup IV's ever worth considering? From what I can gather the last one of those leagues was 3 years ago?

I'm not a spoofer and I don't live in the middle of the sticks, but I don't think there's a massive, thriving Pokémon Go scene in my area in current year either. My local gym hasn't had activity in 5 days.
I don't want to meet up with the 5 local weirdos who still play tbqh, I just want to walk and catch pokemons.

I have never gotten a remote raid pass from a showcase though. Not saying you're lying, but it's gotta be extremely rare if they're a possible reward.

>Are we getting any extra free raid passes for the Kalos Tour?
Prolly not if past events are anything to go by
Every major release like primals, megafug, necrozma fusions, kyurem fusions and crowned dogs gave a whopping 0 extra free passes, those were reserved for ticket holders. Then a few months later they came back in form of raid days that gave extra 5

I might be trolling a bit but I'm not stupid and there's no way my lived experience of gmax being genuinely fun is unique to only my (rather small) city.
Do you guys just hate talking to people? If so then I completely understand why you would hate gmax, but then I would question why you're even playing a social pokemon game in the first place (do you have fun doing normal 5* or shadow raids with shitters that do no damage/don't use purify gems?)
Or is it just that gmax is too difficult and you're struggling to kill them even with your community? Like yeah, during the latest gmax day, by around 4:30pm (2.5hrs into the event) a bunch of people left already and gmax meowth actually took a few minutes to beat, but at the start of the event at 2pm it dies so quickly and everyone is chatting and having a good time and stuff

I only have ~4 remote raid passes for the whole week and I'm a gen wunner so I have the urge to spend them all today but I feel like that isn't the best choice especially seeing mega blastoise coming up (my partner pokemon)

Anon you ain't getting SHIT. You need to raid a mega at least twice to get enough energy to mega evolve it.

If you have no megas and you like KANTOOOO you might as well go for Mega Charizard (X o Y, it doesn't matter, they share the same energy) and a mega of your choosing (like Blastoise).
If you have premium raid passes/bought the Tour Ticket/Pass, it's 100% better to meet your local community and raid with them.

True, but I suggested that because it covers 3 types instead of the normal 2 (because it can be Fire/Flying or Fire/Dragon) for when you wanna farm candies of those types. If you don't like it you could go for whichever other man you like.

Came back after a long break (4 years).
I've spent a few hours looking into which pokemon are actually "good" now, and which I have, and I've narrowed down the apparent best of mine. Ignoring megas.
Here's everything that's apparently either A+ or A tier (I don't have anything that's S tier it seems)
So I guess what I wanted to ask is, are any of them are worth dumping rare candies and dust into? Would anything be an especially decent all-rounder to have?
Or should I wait for some future raid to give me something better? Everything in S-tier lists is so confusing, with fusions and megas and primals.
Also am I being dumb for caring about the IVs so much?
>>
>>
>>58956877
I don't have any mega energy, and as far as I can tell I cannot earn any
>Sources:
>Raids (none available for my pokemon from what I gather)
>Research (I have none)
>walking with a buddy IF they have previously Mega'd (they have not)
>event rewards (no relevant ongoing events)
What do you expect of me anon
>>
>>58956836
If we don't take IVs into account (which we should but won't for now), the best 100% meta Mons you got are:
>Rayquazs -> One of the best Flying type attackers + has Mega
>Lucario -> One of the best Fighting type attackers + has Mega
>Groudon -> One of the best Ground type attackers + has Primal
>Shadow Tyranitar -> One of the best Dark and Rock type attackers
Honorable mentions would be:
>Salamence -> Alright Dragon type attacker + has Mega
>Shadow Metagross -> Alright Psychic type attacker and Good Steel type attacker
>Shadow Moltres -> Good Fire type attacker
Now should you invest in them? Probably not (however if you were to invest in any mon, Groudon would be your best bet). The reason why answers your last question:
>Also am I being dumb for caring about the IVs so much?
You aren't. Despite what many (retarded) anons might say, IVs are very important if anything because investing in a Pokémon is pretty expensive and it's always best to invest in the best possible Mons you can get your hands on (not to say that you have to obsess over it though).
>should I wait for some future raid to give me something better?
If you have the passes/coins, you could have a go at Tomorrow's, Thursday's or Friday's raids. We're getting the Primals back tomorrow, Origin Dialga and Palkia on Thursday and the Kyurem fusions on Friday.
You need to raid the primals at least 4-5 to get enough energy to primal revert 1, so that's probably not the best investment; same with the Kyurem fusions, which require around 10 raids to get enough fusion energy. I recommend you try to raid Origin Dialga or Palkia (preferably Palkia).
Also also, we are getting a bunch of megas during the Tour, raiding the best ones (Gardevoir, Lucario, Blaziken, Tyranitar and Salamence) to mega evolve them ain't a bad idea.

Sincerely, thanks a lot for the thought out response anon. I've only briefly looked into primals / megas previously, because I didn't like the idea of trying to grind currencies for limited time gains, but from what I gather you only need to walk about 8km to get another mega Gardevoir (for example) up, after the initial one. I guess that's not too bad. And presumably similar for primals.
I don't raid (beyond tier 1 solos) very often so that's fine.
I've got enough coins + passes for ~9 raids, so I guess I'll have to try and figure out what to go for then. I have a 14/14/14 Gardevoir, so if that gets a mega raid that could be good to go for then.

>Super Mega Raids
Don't worry much about this, anon, it's just a new raiding system Niantic's adding. They are 8-10 player min raids against a Z-A mega (for now just Mega Victreebell, Malamar and Dragonite). They also added "Link Charges" which is a type of currency which can be used to enter Mega and Super Mega raids (costing 150 and 200 each respectively). There's also a fpurth Mega level called "Super Max Level", which gives you a higher CP boost, more candies but needs 5k mega energy to obtain (Primals are excluded from this for whatever reason).
We are getting these Link Charges in the "Road to Kalos" Pass (600 in total), which would equal 4 mega raids (or 3 super mega raids if you really want to raid those). You could use these to get your Gardevoir energy and for the other good mega mons I mentioned.
One last tip for obtaining mega energy after having already mega'd a mon is to use an app like DeFit, which uses adventure sync + Google fit to make it seem as though you are walking while your phone is stationary. I use it after I when I go to bed and it works pretty well.

>Sincerely, thanks a lot for the thought out response anon
Np anon, happy to help. Lmk if you have any other questions
>from what I gather you only need to walk about 8km to get another mega Gardevoir (for example) up, after the initial one
Somewhat, yeah. After mega evolving a mon for the first time (and spending the hefty ~200 mega energy), the subsequent mega evolutions will require less energy (and depending on the mega level, you can mega evolve for free after a certain amount of days). In Gardevoirs' case, yeah, walking around 8km should give you enough energy to mega evolve it again (because you get 25 energy every 5km).
>And presumably similar for primals.
In the case of the Primals or Mega Fug, you get 100 energy every 20km, so it's kinda even there too.
>I've got enough coins + passes for ~9 raids, so I guess I'll have to try and figure out what to go for then
That's incredible, anon. If you have that many and can find a your local community (using Campfire) or use a raiding app like Poke Genie, it might be a very good idea to use half of those passes to raid Primal Groudon tomorrow. The Primals are BEASTS and I credibly good in every piece of content they are allowed in. You could use the rest on Thursday for Origin Palkia or save them for the Tour.
>I have a 14/14/14 Gardevoir, so if that gets a mega raid that could be good to go for then.

They're basically Megas and need 400 Primal Energy to evolve.
They however don't get some bonuses Mega Pokemon do, like right now they don't get the 6 points worth of Mega Level bonus if you have the event Ticket all the other Megas get.

>just raid 1-2 times each, or cancer liek Kyurem energy?
It's an in-between but much closer to the former. You need 400 primal energy to primal revert Groudon/Kyogre and each raid gives like 80-100 energy, so it takes 4-5 raids. Primal Groudon raids are easier because of the 4x water weakness.
What the other reply said is right, for whatever reason Niantic is excluding Primals from the new Mega features they're bringing (so they won't get the Super Max level nor will they be able to break the Super Mega raid shield), but even without this, the Primals are pretty busted. They get 3 boosting types each (unlike the 2 normal Megas get) and in raids, they always boost the attack of the boosted type,, no matter if your primal is actively attacking, not out yet or dead.

Nah this game is getting enshittified at record pace. Dynamax spots last less than a day now making them unreliable candy generators. Raid distribution in rural areas is getting fucked over by ai. Link charges are like 10 or 20 for every 50 gifts opened. Everything is being pushed to a ridiculously tight saturday 2-5 window. They let people learn featured moves by using ordinary charged tm during the period once fairly recently and then decided it won't happen again. If you escaped this game, you really shouldn't have come back. Every iteration is just worse and more scumiantic.

Bros, if you wanna use Poke Genie to host the Primals, make sure to host around 8 mins before the current raid ends. This gives you plenty of time to wait in queue. If you hosted Croydon but Kyogre appeared, just wait until the current raid's remaining 8 mins and host again.
Also, if you wanna level up your Poke Genie hosting profile faster and don't mind wasting time, you can host hatmon Pikachu raids (which autofill immediately), leave when there's 5s left before the raid starts and rehost as many times as you can/want. I found I was able to host around 8 times per Pikachu raid.

is this the same as having three stars? or something different? I also wanna know if I shot myself in the foot by evolving mons with the highest CP instead of the highest appraisal. Now I have a Swampert with zero stars but like 2200 CP. Out of all of the Mudkips I transferred to get the candies to evolve a Swampert I figure there was a three star one amongst them probably. GG anon, that's an excellent Groudon. Getting it to Primal Revert for the first time is amazing.
>39 ranks away from it, and I think I can get 45 more worth of points before the event ends.
You absolutely will. The pass is hardlocked the week prior to these big events (to like 150 points daily), but it's unlocked during the actual event so it's much easier to level up.
>I think I started playing again at the perfect time
Oh yeah absolutely, Go Fests and Tours are a lot of fun and very good for new and returning players.
>I'll just wait for something else then, I don't think there's anything coming up that I'm too interested in
If you're not too sold on the megas available, I recommend you try to do a couple of Origin Palkia raids tomorrow. Origin Palkia is the 3rd best non-mega, non-shadow Dragon type attacker (shown in picrel) and if you're lucky it will know it's signature move Spacial Rend which allows you to widen the mon interaction area around your character for the cost of some candy and dust.
What kind of sucks about it is that it's not a guaranteed move and it's not possible to teach that move if it wasn't caught with it but it's an option to take into account.
>>
>>58960554
>is this the same as having three stars? or something different?
It's pretty much that, yeah. The stars show you a general view of the mon, the exact IVs are the bars that fill up below the stars.
>I also wanna know if I shot myself in the foot by evolving mons with the highest CP instead of the highest appraisal.
Not necessarily anon, fret not. Early game, it's best to keep and use the Pokémon with the highest CP, those will carry you a lot (just don't power ANY Pokémon up). IVs tend to come into play in the mid to end "game" when you have amassed a good amount of resources and high CP Mons so you can begin investing in some of them.
>Out of all of the Mudkips I transferred to get the candies to evolve a Swampert I figure there was a three star one amongst them probably
Happened to all of us. What's important is for you to keep both the highest CP Mons you can get your hands on (for now) and the highest IV mon of that species (just 1, the one with the bars as filled up as possible). Oh and some shines if you like them just don't hoard your mons. In the case of Pikachu, for example, it's gonna get a mega from ZA soon, and that will be the best Electric type attacker for a long time, so if one of your Pikas had high IVs it's be wise to save it for when said mega releases.
Something worth mentioning is that IVs aren't everything and you should necessarily obsess over them, but it's a pretty good metric to keep in mind when evaluating the "value" of your mons.
>>58960558
If it's just one, sure, but XXS showcases were never implemented, so they are inherently less valuable than XXL Mons.

Better late than never, anon. Just make sure not to do it for now, dust is pretty difficult to obtain early game.
Also, if possible, you should get into hosting raids. Download PokeGenie (hosting app) fill in your username, friend code, level and host away. This will allow you to obtain legendaries and get a good stream of items and experiences. Also, your level and Mons don't matter, the remote raiders will take care of the raid boss.
If you're still a bit unsure about it/never hosted and not convinced, you could host a hat Pikachu raid today and test the waters that way (they are autofilling pretty much, so it's almost instant).
The process goes like:
>Input the raid boss, your weather, the gym's color and if you have any other people there helping with the raid
>Then you are shown a queue (size and time depends on the amount of hosts and remote raiders)
>When it's your turn, 5 players will send friend requests, add them, enter the raid and invite the players
>Make sure to go back to the app and press the big green button that says "All invitations sent"
After that the remote raiders will join, you will all battle and you get the encounter.
You can add some other info in the app after the raid is over (such as if the raid ended successfully, how many people joined and if there was a problem with any of the raiders). There's also different host levels with some perks attached to them (hence why I posted this here >>58960287 in case anyone wanted to level up their profile).
At worst it's a free daily high CP mon and at best it's a meta moon that will carry you all the way to end game (like the primals or origin mons).

The new passes (link charges) work as an alternative to normal raid passes (needing 150 for normal mega raids and 200 for super mega raids). Doesn't seem that bad because you can allegedly get them by opening gifts and through the weekly challenge.

Groudon is better in a vacuum, and it's basically only competing with mega Garchomp for ground attackers. Even the other regular ground attackers (excadrill, rhyperior, mamoswine) can be hard to get enough candy for. Kyogre is great but water has three other megas and lots of good attackers, so being Kyogre being great is less impactful for the average raider unless you're literally starting a brand new account today
