>I want to learn the game, where do I begin?
Download PTCGL at https://tcg.pokemon.com/en-us/tcgl
The game has a quick tutorial and a bunch of decent decks to get you started against other beginners or against the AI. Some of those decks are very close to meta too. You can also go to your local game store and see if people are playing Pokémon.
>I know how to play, how do I make my own deck?
You have a decent beginner's guide at https://www.justinbasil.com/guide
There's also the old /tcg/ guide at https://imgur.com/a/W4NkOu6
After that, look up meta decks and try to reverse engineer them to see how things work.
>Where to find meta decks?
For big irl events, go to https://limitlesstcg.com/decks
For online events, go to https://play.limitlesstcg.com/decks?game=PTCG
For japanese events, go to https://pokecabook.com/archives/1417

I don't know what comes in the battle deck, but for post-rotation you want a maximum belt ace spec and a lillie's clefairy ex.

I thought Garchomp would rise up over Lucario to be honest, but maybe Garchomp's struggle to push 2 energy in a pinch is too much at the moment.

Yeah that's why I'm practicing my post rotation list. Zekrom did a lot for the deck and Zoroark's heavy drawing is really good in the wake of rotation taking a bunch of good supporters. Shaymin is easily the roughest card to play against but second to that the deck I'm playing can be a bit bricky so I've been wanting to make it a little more consistent somehow.

I don't see why they can't tech in a dark energy and a crispin/counter gain. But it will never be meta if it can be hard countered by zoroark placing a single damage counter on itself with pecharunt poison.

Is not that bad of a deck. The rookie mistake is trying to use Mewtwo to attack, but if you focus on using the Spidops, this deck performs nice.
It can also tech a Lillie's Clefairy to make the Dragapult matches more consistent.
The main weakness post rotation are Marnie's Grimmsnarl and Mega Kangaskhan because the bench is very fragile.

The problem with Live is those random crashes.
I almost lost this one because the game stopped out of nowhere, giving my opponent a free turn.
The idea was using Hilda to get a Rocket energy here.

Wobbuffet is useless in that deck because every single meta deck can and will one shot Mewtwo.
Because most of this deck can't one shot the non dragon, fighting and dark mons, is better to have a Sneasel or another Brave Bangle instead of Wobbuffet.
Wobbuffet only works if you have the clunky Orbeetle line and you are facing against the Froslass Munki decks or you let the opponent Dragapult to spread damage everywhere and that's adding like 3 to 6 extra cards in the deck which is totally not worth it.
>>
>>59002594
Would a Kyogre work here?
Greninja uses ability, retreat it with another Greninja to use the ability again, then attack by discarding a water energy.
That's 4 energy used in a single turn.
On the other hand, I don't think a match with megas involved will last more than 5 turns.

That is a completely different format to G-on. I didn't follow the replies back far enough to see that "tier C" is not referring to these images >>59001155 which are post-rotation.
Rocket's mewtwo is currently shit. Rocket's honchkrow has some decent matchups.
>>
>>59005983
This one is still using G format while the other one is post G.
That makes a big difference because Rocket team is extremely vulnerable to Gardevoir, Gholdengo and Iono.
In the post G, Rocket team should be a bit safer, but it's still very weak against the Froslass + Munki decks (mostly the Marnie's Grimmsnarl), the Kangaskhan tank decks and Arboliva decks, however those are not as rampant as Gardevoir and you can still play against them with some luck on your side.

Rocket Spidops too because top decks are Dragapult (tera and dragon), Alakazam (Articuno, lol), Raging Bolt (dragon) and N's Zoroark (Dark).
Honchkrow is more stable since it hits big damage against everyone as long as you don't get bricked.

Got into the TGC recently by playing Live.
Be honest: Is the Greninja EX deck viable? I've done alright with it so far, after some adjustments obviously, but I do find myself struggling to deal with the insanely fast Dragapult decks sometimes. Unless I have my combos down by turn 2-3 I just get blown off the field.

Zoroark hard loses vs Spidops and the Venusaur variant of Grassbox unless they brick super hard. No Venusaur Grassbox is a volatile matchup that hinges on you getting prizes first because you can't utilize Darmanitan's strength of sniping basics because they don't keep them in play either because you'll snipe them or because they play forest and evolve it immediately. You can't even snipe the Meganium because it has 160 and you reach at best 130 with mochi to a frontliner with Flamebody Cannon and they can always skew your prizes and/or force boss by swinging with Meganium since Max Rod can just get it back for free which also puts you in an unfavorable position.

I finally got a win with this entirely because of Ogerpon but that's kind of the gimmick I guess. More times than not they have a secret mouseketool but 90 damage is incredibly bad. Shame because I have a playset of the nice arts

What a pain in the ass to defeat deck.
Unless you can hit 480 or 380 with a jamming tower, the only way to deal with this deck is by bench sniping the Ogerpon.
I guess Dragapult using 2 Dusknoir and the Munki will be able to take the Mega Venusaur once.

Perfect order prerelease is like 2 weeks away and you will be able to play it as it would already exist in a legal set. Of course we still don't have confirmation that it will be printed in perfect order, that anon might be too optimistic but otherwise just wait 2 weeks.

Pretty much. I've preached this forever. You need a good stage1 mon if you want to make it as a stage2. Being a rare candy only user is pure cope.
They really gotta print a supporter version of rare candy, pulling the stage2 from the deck gives it a benefit over just the item version
>>
>>59013066
>They really gotta print a supporter version of rare candy, pulling the stage2 from the deck gives it a benefit over just the item version
I think that would have to wait until after next rotation, just so that grand tree isn't powercrept and decks don't have an instant dusknoir option.

You must play 2 Book of Change at once (only apply the effect once).
Choose 1 of your Basic Pokémon in play. Search your deck for a Basic Pokémon and switch it with that Pokémon. (Any attached cards, damage counters, Special Conditions, turns in play, and any other effects remain on the new Pokémon.) Shuffle the first Pokémon into your deck.

From the discard pile, not deck.
To replace a pokémon you don't want to use (like a Lillie's Clefairy when you were forced to start with it but the opponent is not a dragon) or a pokémon with a lot of energies with something that hits hard.
Honestly, it looks like an useless card. It would be serviceable if it can be used alone.
