So its looking like Konami will finally be done rarity raping TCG, these lower rarity overframes are 1 per box. And they straight up look better than the serialized versions with the ugly ass border. While I dont play pokemon tcg, I will probably go back to playing ygo as barrier to entry will be on par with pokemon tcg(if konami doesnt magically change the hit rates for us)

Anons what 9" graded card should i buy? i worked hard and want an expensive "kind of grail" card
All three of these choices cost kind of the same.

Honestly i was just 151 starters VS Phantasmal Flames charizard. But my guts tell me to buy 25 Celebration Charizard before it will be too late. I feel like 30th set will make this one unobtainable.

Today I went to my first card expo and frankly the experience was miserable. Every single card was 2x to 10x what I find online. Everyone talked like they were the wolf of wall street.

I've never cared about the rarities because I don't collect or pull cards. I just play the game so cards being usable is the first priority, and then after that if there's an artwork I like I'll just get it if I'm going to be using the card enough to warrant it. In any case, the special psychic energy and the Clefable are also playable, though the latter is probably going to settle into being rogue territory.

Only art rares/AR, special art rares/SAR, and gold cards matter for modern "collecting"/Investing. If you really care about collecting, you should look for the art you like and buy them as singles, but your most expensive card is the mouse/Dedenne at around $5.

Here's mine from two pokemon center etbs, 22 packs + promo cards, which cost me $120 and have a sealed market value of ~$600. I got back ~$300 of raw cards. The Psyduck is the most expensive due to being english, $60, instead of jap, $12.

Then you have art rares which are special illustrations of common cards, most collectors chasing good artworks will go for these.
Then you have full arts, another tier of slop where the pokemon is just a full frame render with thick outline and no background. Rarer than AR but generally people don't like them too much.
Then you have special art rares, the big chases, art rares of the ex category. They have texture compared to the regular AR, and the reason no one can have fun anymore is because of this tier of cards.
Then you have other seasonal gimmicks such as gold, rainbow, etc., which are the rarest with ridiculously low pull rates, they fetch good money the first month after release due to scarcity, but then they drop hard because no one really likes them.

This is a good thing, when Shaymin EX was the best card in format it was $40 for one copy, now the equivalent is around $5. SIRs are kind of the compromise, as they are still really hard to pull and have better art than most cards in the set.

You could scoop I guess but I'd rather grab a prize or two early while trying to stop them from attacking or getting set up with boss/budew and see what my options are in 2 turns instead of scooping immediately.

At every target, walmart, costco, or bestbuy restock, there are 10-30 people camping there, waiting for the restocker to arrive. Whenever there is a "surprise" restock discovered, there is at least one person who complains about getting a ticket for going 80 trying to get there in time.

I know all this because they've created a discord for the express purpose of catching restocks. Everybody is trying to get one over on each other. Most shit is bought and sold the next week at card shows for double msrp. Recently, someone made a post in the discord trying to dupe collectors out of their pokepads, playing it off as a goofy collecting challenge they're having with a friend, as if any collector gives a shit about pokepads aside from their sale value. Girl said she wanted to fill a binder faster than a friend, a binder of $9 pokepads. Yea, right.

It's not. The attack you care about takes 5 energy which is obviously a lot but it does OHKO anything you hit if you have some damage on you. The problem is getting that damage on you on your own terms on top of the ridiculous energy cost. The deck with the most potential for water right now is probably Frosslass Munkidori but that's not exactly a deck that uses water types as much as it's one that conveniently has access to one and the only reason you would put it in the active is if you're swinging with Mega Frosslass for some reason or you're just using it as a pivot. We're also losing a bunch of water types that were previously playable in approximately 3 weeks so your remaining options are all not good so if you're still wanting to try then you'll probably have to play something rogue like Misty's deck, Palafin, Mega Abomasnow, Mega Feraligatr, Wugtrio (mill), or Greninja I guess but that is Tera Fighting so it's technically not water despite using water energy, but it's also getting a new Greninja to use with it in the near future.

If you're not sure what to play and don't care for the pokemon then pick something that has a playstyle you like (mill, aggressive decks, decks that are strong once you set up, decks that try to wall your opponent, whatever) and if you'd rather play something with a pokemon you like and gameplay is secondary since the game is relatively simple then here is an image of the JP standard format (minus a random deck that's not legal being misplaced here). There's a few playable decks missing and there will be a few decks coming up since the format is changing but among this list I would say Dragapult, Zoroark, Tera/Ogerpon toolbox, Raging Bolt, Rocket's Mewtwo, Lucario, Grimmsnarl Frosslass, or Grassbox are all fairly approachable for a new players with the first 3 being probably the most nuanced (means little to nothing in this game, for people that aren't retarded) in how you approach matches. Pick nothing with a red line because those are rotating out pretty much entirely as decks. As far as meta goes, Dragapult is going to be BDIF post rotation for a while and it's top 3 right now but the format is pretty healthy even if people are largely tired of Gardevoir and Gholdengo if you find people topping with it on Limitless it's probably going to be fine for you to steal.

Additionally, on Live if you enter PokemonDay2026 you should get a lot of currency and cards, but I don't know when the code expires.

The UK is particularly bad for this. For example, you're lucky if you find a supermarket equivalent to Walmart have more than a box of mini-tins. I tried to use it in a Charizard ex deck, since that can accelerate energies on being played, but it barely works as an early game attacker, once. Then slows you down for the late game. It's got the tools to be playable with Firebreather, Oricorio, Energy Recycler/Retrieval, but like with every Charizard variant it has trouble finding ways to refresh hands or find certain key cards like said retrievals with Arven rotating out and Dudunsparce isn't good or consistent enough to bridge that gap in the same way that Bibarel for example was. They'll undoubtedly print more support for it or support that inadvertently gets used for the deck because they love shilling the fuck out of Charizard, but you technically CAN play this (and Charizard Y) in the same deck but it's definitely not good enough to be competitive I would say.

The gimmick is cute I guess but it's not worth using an entire stage 2 line for that is still worth 2 prizes at the end of the day, and Gengar itself isn't strong enough to carry itself as the centerpiece of a deck because it only does, what, 230? For the same investment you could be playing something like Mega Sharpedo (another deck not in a great spot but at least it has a lot more going for it and is very playable) and be swinging for effectively 290-330 each turn.

Don't buy it! This specific product can be easily weighted. The coin has a very specific weight. There is 1 promo card + 2 packs and a blister.

For example tech-stickers can't be weighted because giant sticker messing up the weight.
