KNOWN ALLEGATIONS AGAINST WRITEFAGS

Pofag is the CEO of HUMILIATION RITUAL and KEKOLDRY. Possible Sabrina torturer
Spicefag Gordy's BITVCH and has a Phd in Cuckoldry (also excellent in monsterfucking).
IMOfag is a disgusting creature of lesbomancy and femdom known as a woman. Also into snuff and vague posts about torturing Sabrina.
PokeNormal/Crystal Light fag makes everyone job to his OC villain.
CCfag I haven't read. (Maybe fucks mentally ill retards?)
Penfriendsfag HASN'T FUCKed HIS POKEMON YET.
Saulfag has a bachelor's degree in Humiliation Ritual and makes PIDGEY-SAMA job.
Mahoganyfag is into fvcking dragons and is a COWARD who REFUSES to fuck POKEMON

AT LARGE! A writefag who scoops out Sabrina's eyeballs for shits and giggles.

>PokeNormal/Crystal Light fag makes everyone job to his OC villain.
How is that a bad thing tho? Canon Pokémon villains are retarded and not even villains but dindu noffings, yes, I will never let that go.

Well in Crystal the MC refused to fight as far as I remember, it's been age since I last read it
>>
>>Thread question:
>When it comes to terminology, do you prefer to read or write using the original or the localized version?

You mean like, original terms vs fan terms? Let's just say you wouldn't catch me using Pseudo-Legendary in a fic. Though since Starter is somewhat acknowledged I run with it.
>>
>>59130272
That reminds me, Prince of Po Town uses the term Partner Pokemon, but only twice.

Shifter Saga Chapter 4. I kinda had to think of a proper ending for this chapter, had other ideas but went with this one.

Since I don't intend to name Chapters, I gotta ask - should I name them based on Arc or nah? Like [Arc Name Here] Part 1 or whatever?
>>
>>59130209
I like to think perfected versions of moves like Fake Out actually create hands made of type-energy when attacking

>>59130218
>OC villain
Laughing out loud. Rolling on the floor laughing, even. There is 1 OC across Crystal Light and PokeNormal so far. And it isn't the main villain.
>>
>>59130388
MissingNo is essentially an OC villain, even if they're real identity is AmberTwo or someone else's ghost.

My cat bit me the otherbday. Had to er that shit cause cats are evidently poison types and cause rapid infection. Was surprised by how deep the hole in my skin went. My dog accidently tripped my wife, and my cat attacked him because he thought he was attacking her. So I got bit while breaking them up. Which is the second time I've been bit breaking up a fight but first time an animal has bit me.

Personally, I like when arcs are noted in the chapter title if I'm catching up with a fic. Gives me an idea of good exit points when reading and reentry points if I drop it and need to catch up later.

> Spinel was a scientist for Team Rocket. who proposed the idea for Strong Sphere using substance called Rakulium to boost pokemon. but Giovanni rejected and mock him.
> Feeling humiliated, Spinel decides to join Exceed to manipulate them for his Strong Sphere project to get back at Giovanni
> Strong Sphere started flopping after people realize its downside of making pokemon unable to hear command and go crazy mid-fights to hurt themselves.which gets even worse by Iono who purposefully fights trainer with strong sphere livestream to show Strong Sphere's downside and counter method.
> Within a week , there is a huge fall in sales with people demanding their money back.
> That's when Amethio's father take the opportunity come forward and expose Spinel's illegal activities and experiments on pokemon while revealing the legendary heroes to be under his care with Paldea League Chairman Geeta and Blueberry Academy professor Briar vouching for him.
> With so many reliable source, people turns on Spinel. .
> Spinel seething and angry, start to realize he is not the smart mastermind that he imagined himself to be which is the worst thing that can happen to an narcissist.
> Spinel decides to release all the Rakulium on the atmosphere to drive every pokemon crazy as a petty revenge.
> Even other Explorers turns on him.
> Final fight ensures to stop this madman.
> Spinel loses and tries to run away with last remaining Rakulium.
> Spinel encounter Giovanni who calls him an incompetent overconfident fool.
> Giovanni use a new device that has the same effect as Strong Sphere.as he reveal that the effects of Rakulium can be replicated by chemicals found in Scovillain that they uses for Spicy Extract.
> Team Rocket already had their experiment and realized it to be ineffective
> Spinel tries to fight only for Giovanni to curbstomp him, punch him in the face, destroy last viral of Rakulium before leaving him for the police.

if a 10 year old can become champion and the fairy type can go undiscovered until the modern era then I'm pretty fucking sure the average chud would btfo any field they specialize in EXCEPT technology
>>
I played a romhack recently (Pokémon Gaia) that explained the hyper competent 10 year old who's always in the same room as champions and professors question. It was a very simple explanation too, story was not a focus of this game. Essentially the professor gives you a key item that's an official researcher card alongside your "Here's a Pokédex, fill it up" request and every scientist and archaeologist you encounter on your journey takes note of this card and invites you for some exposition and quest giving because this is a trusted recommendation from the professor and not some litwho Samaritan that beat up a grunt with two Zubats

I wonder why nobody has their MC discover aura transfer like Fate's mana transfer to make their teams stronger, you would expect furryfuckers to do it since that would give them a way to justify it
>>
>>59132478
Probably because affection mechanics already exist. If you want loving pokemon to translate to power it already does that. You don't need to crib from Fate. Not that furries really need an excuse.

The aura professor, of course
>>
>According to Lucario's Pokédex entry in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, aura was named by Professor Laventon.
>Legends: Arceus
>A most gallant-looking creature. It emits energy waves and controls them with precision, using them to sense even faraway beings. I have given the name “aura” to this power.
>The Pokédex entries in Pokémon Legends: Arceus are written by Laventon. Incidentally, he coined the term "scalchop" for Oshawott's signature seashell and the term "aura" for Lucario's signature energy wave control power. Laventon also observed that Unown resemble human writing from other lands, though no one takes him seriously

Did someone say Aura Professor?
>>
Do you think when the MCs come to a new city and meet new people who will be important to helping them that introductions should be given? Or do you think they should be skipped over since it would be information the readers already know about the characters?

There's a lot of set up I need to go through before I can blow the lid off this Bioshock-Jurassic Park-1984 city I've just thrown them into, and I'm trying not to exposition dump and let them stumble into it naturally.
>>
>>59132599
>Furthermore, the Pokédex entry for Mr. Mime in Pokémon Silver also mentions "Aura," stating that Mr. Mime can create walls by solidifying the air with waves emitted from its fingertips.
So that's where Ash got his aura from...
>>
>>59132609
So aura is just psychic powers? I think some anon posted MasterSex Riley feeling aura but it was just Sabrina's psychic powers
>>
>>59132618
Aura is energy vibration, aka waves. Heal Pulse, Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse, Origin Pulse are all aura moves, they all have "hadou" in their jp names.
I wouldn't trust mastersex, especially not if you're relying on localization. https://wiki.pokemonwiki.com/wiki/%E6%B3%A2%E5%B0%8E
>>
>>59132608
Probably one or two sentences of introduction or inner thoughts
>>
>>59132639
>While "波動" originally refers to the physical phenomenon of a wave pattern spreading in space, in science fiction and the occult it is often treated as a concept of powerful energy or force

>It refers to the inherent vibrations of all matter, commonly known as qi or aura. Alternatively, it refers to the technique of manipulating these vibrations

>In the main series, Water Pulse, which appeared in the third generation, was the first instance of a wave as a move, and the description included terms like "ultrasonic waves" and "vibrations," indicating that it was based on the former, a physical mechanism.

>Furthermore, the Pokédex entry for Mr. Mime in Pokémon Silver also mentions "Aura," stating that Mr. Mime can create walls by solidifying the air with waves emitted from its fingertips.

>In Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness , and Explorers of Sky, you will input your own energy vibrations into the screen at the beginning of your adventure. Depending on the vibrations you input, you can also obtain items that allow you to feel your own energy vibrations, such as energy ribbons

>Everything is done through vibrations

You mean to tell me all this time aurafags where actually broken as fuck and the best they can come up with is to punch harder?
>>
>>59132717
punch harder *and talk to pokemon.
Also plebian how they pretty much never use the other aura moves as inspiration. Like oh, you're punching harder? Are you doing it by infusing your fists with the malice of a Dark Pulse? Maybe drawing on the aura of the environment for a Terrain Pulse punch that matches the environment's type? No, you're just punching harder with aura? Oh, okay.

What things do you (usually) despise in fics (story elements, author insertion into the fic itself like politics, certain discriptions)? And were there times where a fic actually turned it into a good thing?
>>
>>59130209
>When it comes to terminology, do you prefer to read or write using the original or the localized version?
The only time you should use non-english localized is when writing english is if a character is being different for some reason. Johto trainer using japenese translations instead of localizations is fair.
I think I've seen Koga in one fic use the term shadow clones instead of double team, or something along those lines.
Using confusing terms just makes reading a chore for no reason.
>>
>>59132963
Not exactly "turned into a good thing", but PoPT managed Ian revealing his meta knowledge in a way that didn't make me want to drop the fic.
>>
>>59132963
I disliked edgy realistic, but as long as it's not overbearing like hundreds of children dying each league season to weedle stings, then it can add good depth to the worldbuilding. Regular pokemon is actually kind of lame and having a trainer fret over damage to their team and not just "don't worry Lee Henson, pokemon are tough!" as he sobs like a bitch over nothing. That said permanent injuries from casual battling is kind of immersion breaking, and killing a pokemon should take effort and intention otherwise the worldbuilding would need to be significantly adapted to it which normal pokemon just isn't.
>>
>>59132955
>my lucario senses a strong wave
>>59132959
>has the wave changed?
>it looks like they're trying to change the tide.
>>
>>59132963
Here's another question for readers:
Is there a pokemon fanfiction you would want to self insert into?
Assume no matter what you'll find success because of Arceus SI blessing or else obviously no one would pick a difficult one.

The Most Evil Trainer sounds like it would be enjoyable and hilarious to insert into. All it takes is using the move Counter to piss everyone off, and the pokemon don't appear to be very sentient like they are in other fics. That and you get a free mansion after it's all said and done from the government for becoming a noble.
On the contrary, Borne of Caution feels too bland and safe.

I wish it was only an auraslop problem. Like, take a look at gravityslop. Spend a few months gravity training and for some reason their ice beams also get stronger??? Their leg and core muscles be freakishly ahead of the rest of their growth as a result of this specific training regimen. But instead it's treated as free powerleveling to punch harder.
And why is it always only gravity training? Where's the pokemon with Pressure, Spite, or debuffs moves?

Nutritionslop is mostly the same. Not a single one of them yields interesting results or uses special things like crystals.
>>
>>59132996
A post further up mentioned Macho Braces and it made me laugh imagining this DBZ metagamer jumping through hoops to "gravity train" when a normal ace trainer just buys a macho brace and it's the exact same thing, nothing is being invented

I despise real world political commentary crammed into Pokemon fiction, especially changes made to the Pokemon world just for the sake of stroking the author's pet political cause of the day.
>healthcare in Pokemon is suddenly ruinously expensive
>character starts spouting political talking points out of nowhere
Genuinely a disgusting and fic-ruining experience. I don't need to read that garbage in my fiction when I'm already living it, and especially not from some dumbshit kid living with superpowered companions.

Grimdark is pretty boring, too. Maybe I'm just tired of all the kids making Pokemon edgier and darker and then pretending what they're doing is novel or different from everyone else, but Pokemon as a world is a wonderful place, and it's retarded to get so caught up in the imperfections of life that you forget you are living in a beautiful world.

There's a fic where all the ghost types are starving to death and to survive they have to eat people's memories, but the Pokemon League requires trainers to only train one kind of Pokemon. So every year there are trainers doomed to ego death and suicide in this fic's world. It's a misery fic with worldbuilding explicitly focused on making the place a shithole, and I don't have time for that. Slow pacing and misery is all it has.

>>59132996
How to avoid the gravityslop/nutritionslop trap? It feels like anytime someone comes up with a fairly original idea it becomes "slop." What are some ideas you have for getting around a novel training method that somehow the rest of the world hasn't figured out? Crystals you mention, debuffs, etc.?

It only really becomes slop once all the unimaginative copycats come out of the woodwork. First time's free because you're the innovator, but no one after you has any excuse.
>>
>>59133016
>How to avoid the gravityslop/nutritionslop trap?
You gotta make it make sense and be original
>nutritionslop
It doesn't make a lot of sense, pokemon is not set into the middle ages, they very likely have a good idea of nutrition because it's just that important for training.
>gravityslop
It's just dbz. I don't really see a problem with that, but i can imagine how others can see that as unoriginal
>>
>>59133034
>killing ground-type humans
That's different though. That's based.

>>59132963
whenever an author thinks edginess equals mature writing
>>
>>59133048
>You gotta make it make sense and be original
I believe I have found the problem. Shit.

Gravityslop is so one-note as a training method and no one talks about how their mons would be shorter as their spines get compressed.

>>59133036
Wasn't nutritionmann the guy who came up with it first? Or went in on it? And he's called nutritionslop. I'm not sure just being first works, as >>59133048 pointed out.

>>59133034
There's gotta be more to it than that, I think. Just having a religious government getting BTFO'd probably isn't political unless you're writing something like the Handmaid's Tale with extra modern political references. Is there oil in this custom region?
>>
>>59133070
Eh, everyone has their own definition of slop. Nutritionman's been ongoing for a while now, and not innovating on your own concept is itself a kind of slop. Plus it's ongoing while all the copycats are also ongoing, so it's the same slop in a sea of same slop.
>>
Every time someone tries to make the government or elites needlessly edgy or unrealistic it ends up being true. At this point we should all embrace that specifically.
>>
Official stuff always tries to skirt around the idea of a whole planet of new Pokemon. So what if a thing where people and Pokemon went to space resulted in Pokemon gaining new Regional Variants? You know, like Newtype bullshit?
>>
>>59133156
Like Space-type?
>>
>>59133217
I imagine actual material will assign a variety of types for a variety of reasons, like "oh, it's adapted to the COLD abyss of Space! Ice-type" or they get Fairy or Psychic because those are the Space types. Lotta directions.
>>

>>
>>59133016
>Slow pacing and misery is all it has.
Steelheart, right?
I usually don't like grimdark stuff because people who market their fic as that don't know the difference between "life sucks" and needlessly torturing every character. But in that fic, things are steadily getting better for the protagonist despite being a retard and going 'maybe I should feed my ghosts a portion of my regenerating life essence instead of also giving them brain damage from malnutrition'. Even if the slope is incredibly fucking gradual and we'll never see the eventual payoff.
>>

Crystal Lights romance is pretty important for the emotional stakes of the story but the plot would (and has since its a crossover retelling) remain similar.

PokeNormal has some romance in it, but not between the MCs. Tobio and Josalyn aren't into each other, and a part of me worries that people are going to see romantic tension between them when I didn't intend it.

People talking about Arceus like it’s common fucking knowledge. Or Giratina. Realistically the weather trio should also be in this category, but I’m unsure of how well information propagates after thousands of years. Or if the Draconids are insular. Also, nutrition knowledge somehow being not well known. You would think a society where battling is a common and loved hobby would have in-depth research and insight on how to train the best.

Nerds love giving shit wacky names.
>>
>>59134472
You say that like people in the real world don't name their research projects off obscure old gods and mythological figures all the time. Doesn't mean they're going around saying "Oh my Artemis."
>>
>>59134233
>Realistically the weather trio should also be in this category
Actually touch on this in PokeNormal. The Weather Trio are household names because when three kaiju show up and cause region wide chaos the world pays attention. Especially when it ends up being the start of a trend of legendary pokemon showing every few years all over the world.
>>
>>59134500
Yeah, but it's proof that Arceus's name exists enough in modern culture for a major company to name a major project after while designing it's capabilities to mimic said legends.
>>
>Hey guys, wanna see my Ditto? His name is Loki."
>"Zeus use thunder punch!!!"
"Hathor, disarming voice!"
>>
>>59134500
Also, there are people who say 'oh my Odin' and shit both ironically and unironically.
>>
>>59134561
Yeah but everybody hates those people.
>>59134545
It being known to scholars is already something that's established by Cynthia doing research into its legends. People know there were legends of an Arceus, but it's not in the everyday public consciousness, and people don't necessarily know what it IS.
>>
>>59134500
why not?
>>
>>59134568
I don't. I think cringy people are good for the economy.
>>
>>59133356
Humans just use "God", "The devil", "Heaven", "Hell", ect.
Pokemon use their actual names.
Both parties are referring to the same places/beings.
>>
>>59134394
That quote implies it's either named differently or has an unknown name. Either way, that means people shouldn't be naming Arceus.
>>59134472
SM is set like a decade or so after DPPT. That's plenty time for Arceus to be more well known if Ash's adventures were canon in the fic.
>>
>>59134615
Goh actually freaked out when meeting Arceus in the Hisui special
>>
We know what the orbs do, but what are they and why are they separated from their associated pokemon? Seems kind of dumb for the frauds to let their power up items not be in their possession at all times.
>>
>>59135063
I assume because they just want to chill out sometimes. So you put some of your power in an Orb(tm) so you aren't having to walk around all Superman world of cardboard. Plus, you can give them to those humans that you like so that they can call you if you ever need to release your full power to help them out. It's not like they can harness the power without you, and there is no way they could ever capture you. Hmmm? What's that? Look, the kid in Hisui was a fluke. Getting the blessings of all three Lake Guardians? Nobody is ever going to do that again, and its not like somebody could ever capture them against their will. Its full proof.
>>
>>59135063
The true legendary pokemon exist only in the prime realm, other universes have knockoff versions of their true forms. The gems are a weak attempt to help those fraud legends exhibit a bit more of their true power.
This is why sometimes legendary pokemon appear small enough to ride, and other times tower above the landscape like mountains.
>>
I like how you can download stories in AO3

>>59134472
Isn’t this a meta reference? Arceus shows up in legends as “the original one” doesn’t it?

There's still people that practice Hellenism and other pagan religions. It's quite odd but what do I know? My God was nailed to a cross and came back to life on this day.

in TLTD most everyone swears by "The Skies", because Fug's Wild Ride was pretty recent and he's the closest thing to a god they've seen in a long long time

>>

To be fair, peak deoxys had the advantage of hiding in a world-ending meteor to force Fugg to exhaust itself energy before the fight.
Of course anime fugg is a different story who couldn't hurt a fly, no point talking about that loser.
>>
>>59135748
Yeah well instead of worshiping the skies wouldn't it be logical to worship the thing that's literally above them? Space>Skies Stars>Clouds

When are politics (if they're even present) not garbage in (pokemon)fics? Are there certain tips or tricks in making it's presence bearable?
>>
>>59135843
when the main POV only deals with it kinetically

occasional side POVs to establish that YES, POLITICS ARE HAPPENING IN THE BACKGROUND are fine
the trick is to rope in NPCs to politic for you, because, alas, your main character is a child

Alright, returning with some tea(I am not lying. I hve never lied in my life.)
FF1fags Wol cucks his best friend and sends him to the shadow realm. Now he's trying to find him again so he can fvck him too.
Also his PokeNormal deals with sexy Erikas, a fuckable rat, submissive women and a memoryholing/mindraping villain, aka, BASEDvillain.
Saulfag has Troy getting assraped by Jenny during questioning with a strapon. (He is into hvmiliation ritval. Pidgey-Sama had to watch before dying.)
CCfag is into raping mentally ill retards, mindrape, snuff and necrophillia.
Pofag is not just putting Ian into a HUMILIATION RITUAL by cheating, he will turn Ian into the HUMILIATION RITUAL. (Cheats on Mina with Hyde, Plumeria, Tyrunt, Sawsbuck, Sabrina, MIna. Wailords too.)
IMOfag is the fag/nigger/jew of gender and puts Kuzey through incest, femdom with multiple bitches going for his dick and anus, also a cat autist wanting to fuck him too. (almost snuff. Do it IMOfag. DO IT.)
Spicefag takes place in South East Asia, aka, trannies, aka ladyboys galore (ALL Pokemon btw that fvck the fox while billiam watches.)
Penfriendsfag is a shitalian who's in the edging to little foxes phase at the moment (FVCK HER ALREADY YOU DAVINCI MF).
Mahoganyfag only fvcks bratty dragons into submission and not the better options. (Fvck Sneasel rn you dumb bitch.)

>>

It's both, "everyone posts, nobody (outside of like 5 guys max) read or write"

>>59137981
For the last two weeks I've been so busy with work and the new Life is Strange I haven't been able to get much writing done, and I'm the kind of scatterbrain that can't read when I've got writing I want to get done. It's all kind of ground to a halt until this morning when I finally got another 2k words cranked out.
>>
Guess I'll write my regionfic that I'm too scatterbrained to make a proper fan game for then.
>>
>>59137981
I wouldn’t say that’s a completely fair assessment (although that depends on the individuals). The problem with Pokemon fanfiction as a whole is it has some broad genres that dont mix well. There’s the whole “battling, improving, journey” part which is the dominant part of the fandom, and even that is segmented between more anime vibes and the games’ vibes. Then you have the Mystery Dungeon crowd and the varying levels of lewdness there (not even mentioning lewdness in the rest of things). I’m not usually interested in Mystery Dungeon content, and I dislike the content of the Pokemon-anime vibe fics, so I’m pretty limited in what I read.

Most of my spare time goes into my WIP, but I try to check out other threadfics when writing isn’t an option. I’ve been pumping out a chapter at least every weeks for almost a year now so I’m pretty consumed by that, but I've managed to read through a good chunk of threadfics in the meantime (although one can never read enough). Not every story in here is gonna be up everyone’s particular autistic alley. I really do appreciate the anons who do check out my work and shitpost about PoPT in here, especially since there’s so much of it to read it can be overwhelming when someone’s busy.
>>
>>59138050

>>59138047
Go for it anon! This time last year my passion project that’s brought so much fulfillment to my day to day life was still just a detailed outline in my head I didn’t think I’d be able to get to writing at any point in the foreseeable future.
>>
>>59137981
More or less.
And shitposting the same five topics 24/7 too.
Genuinely depressing threads. Beyond repetitive. I honestly don't know why I keep coming here sometimes. Habits die hard, I suppose.

>>59138050
That's irrelevant. This is the fanfiction thread. Not the "journeyfic thread".
People could and should talk about any fic no matter the topic or theme here. I would never in my life read a mystery dungeon fic, zero interest on pokefucking or becoming a pokemon, but people here are still well within their right to like them, write them and talk about them, and who knows, maybe someone will shill a fic so well it may make someone like be willing to give it a try.
>>
>>59138098
Why are you doomposting, and then accusing an anon of saying the opposite of what he said? Makes it look like you're just trying to stir shit.
>>
>>59137981
I can tell you that some people actually read because shortly after i linked my fic in this thread i got an amazing anon who read what i wrote so far and helped correct many errors i didn't notice.
That made me very happy.
There was also a sizeable bump in all the reading numbers.
>>
>>59138098
>People could and should talk about any fic no matter the topic or theme here.
Yeah, isn't that what he meant? As in, there are many types of (poke)fics so not everyone may read this or that. I mean, I too find Mystery Dungeon shit to just be faggot tier (No offense CCfag and the anon that posted Million Miles and the other anon with the Vaporeon knight or whatever.)
But no one ever, including the anon you're strawmanning, claims that this is some specific general.
Gtfo fag.

>>
>>59138189
Jessie's also had the hots for at least one guy before.
Only people with an agenda try to push the idea that James and Jessie are gay or trans.
>>
What comment on a fic (whether it’s yours or another writer’s) made you laugh out loud?

CCanon getting mad at Ian being dumb and making a slur of his old last name “Derry” takes the cake for me.
>>
>>59138189
>anybody who likes James enough to put him in a fic having problem with gay

>>
>>59138222
CCanon's inane levels on enthusiastic insanity and lack of common knowledge on english social cues juxtaposed against his well thought out literary commentary confuses and humbles me. I respect his passion, but I also fear that he could end up using his power for evil.
>>
>>59138284
>Using his powers for evil
I don’t care that I’m likely a hemisphere away, but if he were to turn to the dark side I’m sure I’d still hear about it IRL.

>>59137981
I only recently came to these threads, and I'm reading as much as I can. There's a lot of fics to catch up on, especially when I have other hobbies on the side. I will try to post meaningful feedback whenever I catch up with a fic. I hope other anons do the same for me when I finally start posting my own.
>>
Is your MC high on spigarito kneading aroma?

He has unique takes on plot and reads very well into character themeing, he's always a treat to hear from. Though he might save himself from some heartache if he'd check Bulbapedia to see what glup shittos I'm referring to.
>>
>>59138211
I honestly don't believe in any specific thing Jessy and James are other than that they are freaks and there is no way they are full straight. Cross dressing once is a gag. Cross dressing twice is odd. Cross dressing so many times that its considered a character trait means is gay as hell.
>>
>>59138305
Speaking from personal experience, when a semi-regular commenter posts a fic I make it a point of emphasis to read what they’ve got, the other writebros in this thread do check out each other’s work in between working on our own so it’s not always consistent. Clearly this guest gave enough of a shit to comment.

But honestly if being reborn as a kid then wooing girls your age counts as pedophilia, does that mean that confessing your love to the one you agreed to marry in your past love is not incest when you two are reborn as brother and sister? These rules aren't adding up. And you know what, I have decided not to give a single shit about them in the context of writing my own shit. But if I am obligated to pick a side, then I believe it is the current life that should be taken into account, even if one has past memories.

After all, if reincarnation is a thing, who is to say others are not just reincarnations who drank the Meng Po soup?

In the most CYNICAL of these philosophies, you have parents screaming and hollering at their kids just because their baby boy remembered their past life like "YOU WERE A GROWN ASS MAN THIS ENTIRE TIME" like they completely forgot about the concept of parental love holy shit like he loved you and you loved him and he was never a stranger, like at least hestitate or be conflicted. Damn.
>>
>>59137981
A few people in this thread have recommended me stories that I’ve ended up binge reading desu
>>
So I started reading a story and this:

>"Before you go, I used to not add this part, but after a while, it's surprising how many people forget."

>What?

>"The people you see, the people you meet, and the people you share experiences with, are all real human beings."

>"They aren't fiction, they aren't 2D things you saw through a book or a screen or maybe even a fanfic. They're all humans in which they share the same feelings as you do."

>"So no matter how much you may place some weird expectations, or even try to predict their motivations just because you have prior knowledge, everything will change."

>"Just remember this."

>"You are just as unusual as the 'fictional' characters you may see or meet."

>"You aren't superior just because you saw me."

>"You... are Human."

>"Same as everyone you will meet."

Sums up my main problem with SI stuff, everything stays the same because in a way they didn't make the world feel "alive" if that makes sense, like in Silver Eyes were the trainer's age in the anime went to 12 there and still canon happened exactly the same beyond Leaf and Jasmine wanting everyone to be an asshole

The only thing that matters is having something to hold over another. These people know that defending something represented as 'pedophilic' isn't socially acceptable, and thus use it as a weapon. Nothing more than that at all. They're the one's who would call you racist, or transphobe, or whatever. It's just an angle they work to try to have power over other people around them.

The rules don't add up because it was never about the rules. Most women don't age past 14 or 15 mentally either except to become bitter that their young looks are disappearing. Ironic isn't it.

That's also why mushoku tensei is based. Someone had a lot of courage to make it.

Time travel or not, that kind of lazy writing undermines a main appeal of regression and isekai unless it's a tragedy.
>>
>>59139343
Its less lazy writing and more a solution to a specific kind of problem that comes up in some time travel stories, controlling the Butterfly Effect. You shouldn't always actively acknowledge it in the story, but its pretty much an unspoken rule that some things have to happen the same for time travel to even be possible. Personally I like it when it's used more as a loose thing than a very strict thing. Like that the same people are going to be born so that you can see how they exist in this alternate timeline regardless of how different it is.

Yeah loose corrections as the best, like Fry literally grandfathering himself in Futurama because that was the only way for the timeline to adjust. What's even the point of the time travel then, to drop a filler arc?

for bootstraps paradoxes, like in Pokemon 4ever when young Oak got the idea to invent the Pokedex after he saw Ash's own

As annoying as it is I've found that I have to like stare at the screen and kinda force myself to write a little until like maybe 30 min - 1 hour into it I suddenly start flowing more or less
I don't always have it so bad and it depends on the part I am writing but I've noticed this across a bunch of my stories

Do people really have trouble getting in a writing mood or is it that they can't come up with where to take the story? Sounds like a patreonfag issue to me because the only time I have trouble writing is if I'm confusing myself with my own plot and need to take a step back to make sure everything's making sense.
>>
>>59141841
Sometimes my brain is just tired of spending time in the story or I'm concerned with delivery and second guessing everything I come up with. It's rough.
>>
>>59141841
Sometimes I'll get really tripped up trying to come up with the right wording of a sentence, like I just can't put what I want in the right way, so I'll be stuck on a single line for like 10-15 min before it clicks and I'm blasting ahead.
>>
>>59141850
This is the sort of thing that happens to me, except I don't really get a chance to blast ahead because it happens again a few paragraphs later.

Like a bolt from the blue, it's time for another Threadfic Review.
Today's subject is Spice and Fox. I assume the name is a reference to Spice and Wolf, because otherwise I don't have a fucking clue what spice has to do with anything. Also, I've never read Spice and Wolf.
Premise is basically just your regular-ass journeyfic with a slightly older protagonist, which I'm not exactly opposed to. Execution is what matters and S&F is pretty good in that regard.
Braxien’s characterisation between her Echo chapters and how she interacts with Will in the main story felt almost like two different characters, which is probably my biggest critique of the fic. Otherwise, characterisation of the main pokémon is excellent. Shroomish is absolutely my favourite character, especially because she sticks by Will after everything goes to shit, but isn't willing to compromise on her own morals about hurting people. Just the most dependable little puffball. I love her so much. The Magikarp bits are also pretty consistently entertaining and I get the impression there's a lot more going on behind that blank stare than Will is giving him credit for. Braxien is very entertaining and plays off Will and Shroomish well.
The human characters are also great. Soren is a particular standout, for being an asshole who seems to actually both be a good person and mostly correct for pretty much all his page time so far. The current party dynamic where everybody kinda feels like they hate each other but are all working together anyway is pretty unique.
Prose is occasionally artistic, mostly functional. No major issues. I’m going to /beat/ the fuck out of Spicefag if he never uses a different word for a short stretch of time though. Also, a pair of slashes is not a substitute for actual italics.

I really like Hokubu as an original region. As a game world, it would probably be ass for pretty much the same reasons as mentioned in the fic, but it makes for great wilderness exploration in a story. The kind of small government, uncontrolled and mildly dangerous society is great fodder for stories with high personal stakes without stepping on generally utopian vibes of the Pokémon world. I want to write a chapter where my own characters visit for an ill-conceived holiday.
Enjoyed the cozy vibe of the early chapters and think they make for a great contrast to the more recent ones. Can't speak too much to the plot as of yet, since it hasn't really unfolded, but there's a lot of good threads in place to pull on.
Overall: Made me feel bad about my own writing/10
Though you may forget the Threadfic Review, rest assured it remembers you.
Tata for now.

Typically I know where I’m going with a chapter, I’m just not sure how everything I want to cover is going to come together, so I’ll be stumped on the individual scenes. Some chapters I already know most of the details and can just motor through things in 2-3 days and edit/revise things for a quick posting, while other chapters I’ll know what needs to be done but have to piece together how it’s all done, what characters I can/should include, etc. it’s a fun process because often a lot of things that are done in these scenes help inspire future plot developments or opportunities for good scene you hadn’t thought of yet.

This amuses me considerably.

Honestly if I ever rewrote the first several chapters of Spice and Fox it would be with a better game plan. The first several chapters I didn't have an outline or plans really, and was just vibe writing, which contributed to Fennekin feeling as varied as she was. I tried to handwave this somewhat later on in her just being intentionally on good behavior with Will early on and then slowly losing the drive to act and defaulting to her high maintenance, jealous self. That massive fucking 5 year hiatius gap in time between writing chapter five and six didn't help any. That's around when I actually sat down and outlined the entire thing.

Hokubu actually began as a OC game region, and I was autistically setting up a scratch-built Unity engine mostly text-based game in the region. I futzed with established mechanic (Pokemon using physical-based bites and hits and such between official rounds), flying Pokemon actually being somewhat hard to hit, reducing 4x effective moves to like 3x or 3.5x (I forget), and generally mucking with the system. Never amounted to anything, but early on I'd use it to simulate battles when I wanted to feel out how-many-hits-to-KO and similar. Now just use the usual Damage Calculator to estimate how things might go. Point is, the full region + gym leaders + champion team were one of the first things I hashed out, before even writing anything.

Soren and Carolyn are very fun to write. The two were in my head since around chapter 5, and I had to wait until 16 to introduce both of them during the Pokemon Center shenanigans. Soren in particular has grown on me the more I've actually worked on backstory. Otherwise, really struggling with writer's block and 22 but I appreciate the feedback greatly.

Here, have some AI art.

>>
>>59146977
I'm trying not to reuse any given species too much.
Indeedee (both male and female) played an administrative role in an earlier part of the story.
Kirlia also had a role in a Ghostbusters situation.
Tyrantrum is already in the park next door (three guesses how that will work out for the city).
Most of the street pokemon are too busy looking at the latest and greatest tech to have come out of the lab: the Rotom phone (since the technology is technically haunted, one of the MC's will never trust it because of the Ghostbusters situation).
Meowstic (male and female) are characters I started developing for another purpose who pointed them in the direction of the lab.
Electivire and Voltorb have a role to play later on at the power plant.

Chatot really does feel like the best option.
