Hey Thoosies,
My name is Alan Schilke, and I hate every single one of you. All of you are fat, retarded, no-lifes who spend every second of their day sitting on their ass at home instead of riding roller coasters. You are everything bad in the world. Honestly, have any of you ever ridden anything outside of Disney? I mean, I guess it's fun making fun of people because of your low credit count, but you all take to a whole new level. This is even worse than doomposting on r/RollercoasterCirclejerk.
Don't be a stranger. Just hit me with your best shot. I'm pretty much perfect. I was lead engineer at Arrow Dynamics, and now I'm a consultant for Rocky Mountain Construction. What CAD software do you use other than No Limits 2? All of my rides get rave reviews, I just opened a new ride today (So much airtime; shit was SO cash). You are all cringe thoosies who should just go ride rides instead of complaining. Thanks for listening.

Why does rollercoaster tycoon has a general and transport tycoon doesn't?
>>
I don't like trackitecture, it always just looks like random track pieces laying around
>>
>>12377548
Transport Tycoon discussion is fine here and not many people play it
>>
For me, its Los Pickle Hermanos (park)
>>
>>12377549
Certain applications don't look stupid, but you still have to do obtuse bullshit to place anything at all and it's a non-operational item in your rides list. So I don't do it regardless.
>>
>>12377549
Trackitecture is pretty great if taken to autistic levels.
>>
>>12377548
Transport Tycoon is a solved game but any anon can go and make an absolutely horrendous roller coaster
>>
>>12377640
Sorry, but RCT is a solved game as well.
>>
>>12377647
it's a solved game even without using his jewish tricks.
>>
>>12377556
>a non-operational item in your rides list.

not if you build a functional ride somewhere else using that same ride instance
>>
>>12377563
That is extremely autistic. I adore it.
>>
>>12377532
you know something struck me as odd. With all of my time in RCT (and other coaster builders) in my life, I might have designed more rollercoasters than some of the professionals employed by real-life manufacturers.

I didn't realize it had been 2 weeks so I picked the first thing I could think of, or as this anon said >>12381406 I'm an uncreative hack.
>>
>>12377640
Yeah I think part of what makes RCT so enduring is how funny it is to fuck up. It's also still pretty easy to fuck up even when you know what you're doing. There are a lot of sim/tycoon games where nothing ever happens if you know what you're doing.
>>
>>12381114
because it was funny probably. I appreciate all of the joke names you guys have been giving to the food stalls lately

That first loop is so funny. It's like they could only make loops one size, so they built a huge ramp up to a loop instead of just making a big loop.
>>
>>12396669
I expect that's not far off. With their manufacturing method they probably had a specific rig for making clothoid loops and would have to make another one for a different size.

I started up a shuttle for the map. I decided on the color scheme because I thought you fags might like it I was lazy and wanted to get it opened.
If it expands, one idea is a repeating three or four train color scheme (green-blue-purple-orange, repeat) if there ends up being like twenty trains. Questions for late.
>>
>>12401202
I like how it looks
>>
Messed with this idea for a bit but don't think i'll finish it because fucking around with all the cliff walls is a huge amount of work and the map is like 90% cliffs, it's also probably too big (400x400)
>>
>>12401352
I had an idea for something like this a long time ago and never got around to making it, it's cool to see it even being in a conceptual stage. It'd be cool if you do end up finishing it anon, but I understand if you decide not to.
>>
I also had that idea but figured it would be bordering on micro park so that it would be manageable both to create and to see what you're doing while playing. Even going larger you have to make a choice to keep it manageable. Don't make the terrain too elaborate, some steady slopes and mostly flat areas. Just have a little fillet at the edge of the cave floor into void and you don't have to deal with cliff walls.
>>
for it it's me pickle park
>>
What if it was 300x300 but you had way less buildable area? Too little buildable area?
>>
>>12402718
I love it actually
>>
>>12402718
I think the ideal is a main cavern area with a bunch of tunnels for "terrain" coasters.
>>
>>12402718
I like it but it definitely needs more open space near the entrance. Maybe flatten the spot directly ahead of the entrance?
>>
>>12402832
This sounds like a good idea, i'll try it out

>>

>>12407179
I gave a little thought to this for something I wanted to make. I like that except for the gap above the steep pieces. I wonder about using something else to to get that part of the support one unit lower and zero clearance the steep track.
>>
>>12407546
It's too bad that the extended woodie support CSOs only fill around that one vanilla piece and don't have underneath arch pieces. I end up just making a rectangular "building" as an arch.
>>
>>12407546
>>12407556
I was thinking about this the past hour and actually started toying with some solutions to this. Still unsure the best way of doing these wooden supports since a lot of RMCs have this staggered support structure that's a lot harder to do in RCT2. (Not that this is intended to be an RMC)

As an aside... Has anyone built a working swing launch?

>>12407856
There is a lot more that's needed, especially for big sweeping curves. Honestly the best way to handle it would be to make it easier to build the old-school custom woodie supports that involved using the landscaping tool to place a grid of sloped fences.
>>
>>12407871
Technically speaking couldn't you make a custom scenery object similar to the Pyramid being a multi-tile object that uses the same model style and then just place that within curves maybe as quarters? I could 3D model it well enough but implementation is another story. I tried and it sucked trying to get a single thing working. It's all Greek to me.

experimenting in a sandbox trying to figure out some ideas for future builds, came up with this but really not sure what to use it for
>>
Those new coaster pieces seem to fit in perfectly, i'm surprised no one is making sprites. I guess the guy hasn't publicised how he made the sprites. Maybe i'm just not paying attention. It can't be that hard to make the model, set the camera up and render it. I tried it ages ago but i could never get the colours right. Also if you look at how the coaster track is disassembled it's crazy complicated but you shouldn't have that problem with a prop that is 1 tile
>>
also on the same sandbox, just experimenting with some color schemes. mostly sunset or green-blue gradients.
