Where is a good place to find sets in decent condition? I've been burned twice on Facebook marketplace by taking TVs home and servicing them to find that the tubes are close to dead.
One seller was selling a good sony Wega model for 50 bucks. She said the "picture is bit dim" so I asked her a bunch more questions then drove an hour and a half to pick it up. I plug it in there and the video doesn't even fucking turn on. Dumb bitch
I'm willing to pay retard prices now if I can garuntee the set wasn't used for 40000 hours and doesn't have irepperable problems

Go to great neighborhoods at the start of spring. I got two excellent CRTs that way, one a 19" the other a 13"-both with zero burn-in because they apparently belonged to some old lady.
That was a good day. Perfect condition too on the both of them. Not even scratches.

Drive around the evening before garbage day. You can probably find the garbage schedule on your cities website.

Go somewhere with houses 30+ years old, then find the nearest dump and ask. Everytime I drive past they have multiple CRTs shoved in giant metal bins, including widescreen Trinitrons and other rare stuff. They used to let me take them but then new management banned and threatened me.
