I have looked into the files in Civ 5 (vanilla, no major DLCs) to get a basic understanding of how warmongering works in this game (See GlobalDiplomacyAIDefines in Asset>Gameplay>XML through steamapps). I think I am able to grasp the concept now. The problem is that I want to edit and remove the warmongering penalty temporarily, conquer a civ, eliminate that civ, not gain any warmongering penalty from doing so, and then reinstate the original XML file with the original warmongering penalty from attacking and eliminating civs from the game.
I have been able to do most of these, except the latter. I don't know why, but once I reinstate the original XML file, I receive the warmongering penalty from eliminating a civ long after I had conquered that civ. I want to avoid a warmongering penalty for eliminating that civ at that moment, reinstate the original XML file, and accept that future eliminations will cause warmongering penalties. All that matters is that one moment.
Any idea on how to edit this file to make it more favorable for me? If you want, I could expand on this further to give you a basic idea of how warmongering works in vanilla, as I previously said. I think I know it works now, but not entirely.
