Years ago I saw an image that was black and white, woodcutting style vibe, and had a big circular "portal" and inside the portal was nothing but jet black. It was framed with various things including some skeletons, one skeleton looking in, but beyond that, the void was the centerpiece of the image.
Attached is the closest thing I can find so far, but it definitely wasn't this, even though interestingly this has one skeleton looking in just like the image I saw.
It's driving me nuts and I can't seem to find the right search terms.

Did you you find it from memory? Because when I tried searching for it I couldn't find anything.
Anyways, I also suspect that this may be what OP was looking for. It was an album artwork, like I suspected. There's actually a wikipedia page about it, which cites more information: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawless_Darkness#Artwork_and_packaging
Interestingly, there's other "variants" of the artwork as well from the artist:

Specifically, it seems that there are multiple parts of the cover art, and that there was a hole in the center of the outer cover let you look at the vortex in an inner part.

And here's a photo, to make it clearer what I mean in my previous post. I took the pic from here:
