This fight is pretty much completely ripped off Kurama vs Kaito, only that was more of a mindgame than a real fight so the execution is way more awkward here and this fight ends in an asspull.

Of the seven jinchuriki introduced in shippuden only B is a character, Yugito gets one line before being offscreened and the rest dont even appear outside single panels before they get edo tenseied this arc, and that doesnt count either since they are personality-less zombies. In general I think Kishimoto fucked up by having the timeskip work the way it did. Following the Sasuke Retrieval he should've made an arc focusing on various missions for Konoha nin, during which the various jinchuriki would be introduced. Would've been a good way to really establish that the rest of the series would be concerning the entire ninja world and not just Konoha. Instead at the end of SR we got a one chapter timeskip, Naruto coming back from his training then immediately getting humiliated in the Tenchi Bridge arc. Its like Kishimoto couldnt handle the idea of not having the plot revolve around Naruto and Sasuke, but he could've still expanded the setting through their perspective (Narutos travels with Jiraya, Sasuke getting raped by Orochimaru in different hideouts). And even if he didnt want to do an arc of small missions, he could've at least had the decency to show *some* of the fights between the Akatsuki and the Jinchuriki. Thinking back to how much time was wasted on pointless shit like Sai (the team system should've been done away with following the Chunnin exams, SR showed that Kishimoto was open to the idea of ad hoc formations. Without the concrete teams, which were meant to be for training the Gennin anyways, there would be no need for shitass Sai to fill out team 7) and Sasukes shitty ass team while these nominally important Jinchuriki are all swept under the rug is infuriating
