Yeah, I've always been a broke ass with nothing financially going for me, yet it never stopped me from dating several times in life since the age of 16. I genuinely do not know how it why other guys complain about gold diggers, I have never dated one in my entire life. They are so fucking obvious to spot before befriending and dating them so I don't know how other guys keep falling for vapid gold digging cunts only to act late and surprised that she was a gold digger as if it wasn't obvious.

The reason I was able to get plenty of women without money to offer is because I offered something else in it's place, and that was emotional security. I was not a self victimising 'poor little me' kinda guy. What I gave to women was laughter, understanding, humanising them, having a connection and being sincere about it. And for some women that shit is priceless.

But even then it doesn't matter how nice and down to earth the woman is, at some point the man does need to roll up his sleeves and go get busy. The guy I'm seeing is pretty broke and it doesn't bother me, but there are a few extra factors at play here. One, I will be finishing up grad school debt-free and likely making more than him once I do - I don't need or expect a man to provide for me financially, and I'd feel bad going 50/50 if our salaries would make that unfair. Two, we were good friends before we started dating; I already had a pretty good grasp on his character and understood the way he treated others, so there was nothing he needed to prove by shoving a steak in my face. I also know his money habits, which matter WAY more to me than the number you bring in. I'd feel so much more secure with a man who brings in 20k but saves 1/4 of it than I would with a 200k salary guy who spends everything as soon as he gets it. Pay your damn bills before you buy a new watch.
I'm not going to begrudge anyone for wanting to be with someone they see a future with, and unfortunately, finances are definitely something to consider there. But there are also plenty of people who just want someone who they really connect to and who makes them feel loved, and money has very little to do with that.
Excuse the rambling, but if you can live a good life - whatever that looks like to you - on your own, any woman worth her salt shouldn't give a shit about your income.

My ex was obsessed and worried over money, career salary and home ownership that it destroyed the relationship before finances even mattered. I helped them through their education, job prospects etc but when it was my turn to struggle with getting a career starting it obviously caused resentment, and finally cut me right after I finished graduating a degree I only did to fast track a career out of desperation. I got a job a month after being dumped. Almost a decade of building a natural, and dedicated relationship down the drain in exchange for a career, the one thing i couldnt get at the time.
