How do people make friends online?

I play a lot of competitive multiplayer games and it seems like alot of people have a friend group they hang out with and play shit with

I have friends irl and I'm not really a sperg so what gives

Use your mic and skills to try and join another group. I've also challenged people that if I beat them at something they HAVE to join my clan. I've not done that a lot but the people said yes every time.

I just add interesting people and if they accept great. If they invite me then I'll join in on the fun. Sometimes to return favour I'll invite them. Thats how you make friends online basically.
