I spent 5 days in jail for attempted burglary back when I was 20. It was a plea deal for trespassing. I'm 40 now. Is there a silver lining to this?

It's probably wiped off any kind of record that doesn't need a deep background check to dredge up. 10-15 years most places.
Why you worried about it?

If you learned from it and resolved to keep your nose clean from then on, yes.

A weird feeling of regret and nostalgia.

>deep background check
This was in Virginia. You think I can just say no to that question on an application to Walmart?

Have you tried petitioning to get the charges sealed? If its been 20 years and you've been relatively troubled free, they should at least consider it
>>

That's not usually the sort of thing employers get turned off by unless you lied

Nostalgia? For what?
>>

Virginia doesn't do that. Your record remains open for everyone.

That was a period of time I wish I could go back to.

Pre incident? I'm guessing not the period you were locked up?

Well, I mean, that whole decade minus the event in question. It was actually a really great time in my life. I used to have much more optimism and hope, and I used to enjoy things more.

But as time went on, those things faded away. My life is miserable now, but I'm fighting to get back what I once had and complete my life goals that I promised myself I would achieve.

When you're pushing 40 and still haven't achieved these things, things just start to get really dark.

So much of my life now is just fear of dying alone and living a life of nothingness.

Yeah, it's just a lot of fear. The fear I have now compared to back then, has basically multiplied tenfold.

How bad was it?

Do you have work?
>>

so why are you asking about trying to improve your life instead of waking up everyday and actively applying and trying to improve your life? you wasted a decade already, stop trying to think through everything and act

I went to jail for 7 months for shit I regret. I'm irreversibly damaged from the entire experience. Life is hell now

Long story short, don't get taken to jail alive.
