While I normally would be inclined to agree with your points, you gotta look at who's funding this. The people up top very obviously have a transhumanist agenda going on and I wouldn't be shocked if they had teams producing designer drugs that haven't been publicly studied or released. If people break records here (which they will, unless the olympics is a sham and full of dopers), then more people will be willing to accept drug abuse and even body modification in the name of pushing limits and becoming famous.
