2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros), LoseIt (great for both), or Waistline (FOSS).

Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.

Yesterday I hit my first major milestone, 40lbs down and sub 200lbs in 2 months with fasting. I've settled into 96 hour fasts now and it's not really that bad, just boring. Also changed my diet to healthier and more nutritious items, mostly eggs, potatoes, black/pinto beans, lentils, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, vegetables, various meats and occasionally a freebie (pizza, doughnut, whatever.) On the day I do eat I aim for ~3000 calories, intentionally going over for nutrition reasons.
Pretty incredible. I went from not being to fit into a belt anymore to three notches, I'm not bursting out of my clothes anymore, I have a lot more energy, constant headaches are gone, and I don't get out of breath walking. I lose ~2.5lbs every 5 days.
Still got like 60-80lbs to go, though...about 5 months left of this approach.

I did my first 72 hour fast of the year last week. It had a pretty bad rebound effect where I stuffed my face once I ended the fast. Something about dopamine seeking according to Gemini. I would quite like to lose 40 lbs in 2 months, but based on the result of the 3-day fast it's probably not all that feasible. I'm also worried about losing muscle mass with extended fasting.
Still, kudos to you.

Anon who lost 90lbs (290 -> 200) here over the course of 1.5 years. (Lost 60lbs in the first 7 months.) The best way is to make sure you run *every day* when you start. Make yourself run for 1 hour, no matter the pace, and you will see the lbs melt off. If you start as a fat fuck (I started at 290) then you will see massive weight loss in the first month which will motivate you even more. Nothing more heartening than watching the numbers on the scale go down day-by-day.
>>

>I did my first 72 hour fast of the year last week. It had a pretty bad rebound effect where I stuffed my face once I ended the fast.
This happened to me once in January with a giga-7000 calorie binge, which is what made me swap from the shitty foods I was eating before to the more nutritious stuff I listed. I realized I couldn't have the other stuff around and that I just needed to get control of myself, so the next couple fasts I put serious effort into reducing what I ate on my eating days. It eventually stuck but it was REALLY not fun initially. I guess you could say the "getting started" curve with 96 hour fasting is a cliff face but you eventually get over it, at least in my case.
Beans are a nice answer to this binging problem because you can eat a literal pound of them and only be at 1300 calories for the day, it satisfies my desire to eat a lot of volume.
>I'm also worried about losing muscle mass with extended fasting.
I don't doubt this is happening to me but I'm just going to tank the damage and fix it later. I do get a ton of protein on my eating day but I don't know how much that will offset any muscle loss.
Thanks anon and good luck to you too.
>>
>>77119556
>I don't doubt this is happening to me but I'm just going to tank the damage and fix it later
Congratulations, you will transform from fattie to a cursed skinnyfat jeet physique and have to do this whole song & dance all over again. I don't understand why you retards keep misusing fasting as way to dodge the lifting when you can build muscle while cutting and get ahead of the curve by working out. Even in your best case scenario you would STILL need to work out after "making it" anyway so delaying it accomplishes nothing of value since you nuke both muscle and fat if you fast without lifting
>>
>>77119556
Man, you wanna talk about something you can eat a lot of for basically no calories. Kangaroo meat.
I've lost about 35kg in the last 8 months by making kangaroo meat the core of my diet. Mainly in the form of meatballs. You can eat about 1kg for 1000 calories, about 220g of protein.
I'll probably forgo the fasting and just return to my OKOKMAD diet.
I found last time I made the meatballs, if I add one egg to 1kg of kangaroo mince, and a handful of parmesan it really elevates the meatballs. It does bump the fat content up a little, but barely anything really.
>>
>>77119592
That sounds tasty and cool but I'm not Australian and it's probably expensive, but glad you have something that works.
>>77119590
You know what annoying bitch anon, you're right. Just for you I'll get back on the lifting train, I'll go back to my heavy sandbag stuff and strongman lifts since I had fun with that. Already made one sweeping change this year, why not two?
>>
>>77119606
Being Australian does have its perks.
For a meat that's about 2% fat, it actually tastes pretty good. Way, way, way better than the extra lean heart smart beef mince that's about 5% fat. And a fair bit cheaper than the extra lean heart smart beef mince too.
I've had a few people comment on my weight loss so far, and I've really talked up the qualities of the noble kangaroo, but I find it odd how many people have told me they've never seen it at the local grocery store when all my local grocery stores carry it.

I either take 4 walks a week on the days I'm not lifting, or I walk 5 days a week (with overlap on lifting days) and then have two days of just sitting on my ass
sitting on my ass for 2 days is pretty nice but walking and lifting on the same day generates more laundry because I shower twice

theres SO many
it's so easy to make
so cheap
so yummy
go full on soup mode
just watch the salt
last time I made potato + mushroom soup
you make an onion + flour base -> dice an onion, fry it a bit and then add like two spoons of flour, keep stirring it for one minute so it doesn't get burned and then add in water
then just add in mushrooms, cut up potatoes with carrot and maybe some other root veggies
,spices, herbs and shit and let it barely boil until the veggies are as soft as you like them to be
then go ahead and eat the whole fucking pot in one day if you want and you're basically still just eating potatoes and 0 kcal root veggies
try being hungry now with 3 pounds of vegetables in your stomach and half a gallon of water

I’m losing roughly 1.7 lbs a week eating 1500 calories a day at 250 lbs, how the hell do less fat people keep this up?
I know my TDEE is gonna decrease as I lose weight, I can’t imagine what I’ll have to do to keep this pace when I get to 200 lbs or so
>>

10k steps is about 500 burned kcal.
If you're an untrained sedentary fuck then you'll actually burn maybe even only half of the fat as someone who is at least somewhat active.
Active bodies burn way more fat over other substrate compared to bodies of people who are sedentary.
So, if you keep it up, it'll actually get easier and easier to lower your weight or maintain it.
Also of course you'll get used to it even mentally.
And the change in TDEE isn't that huge. it's what, like 300 kcal? Go for a 15 mile walk and then you can have a 1500 kcal pig out session and it'll still still cancel out. And if you're used to it a 15 mile walk is fucking nothing so you can easily do more.
Just keep at it, it actually gets easier and easier.

Shit’s getting really demoralising I’m not gonna lie, I just calculated my average weight of each month and my February average is only 6 lbs down from January, and I’m actually only 3 lbs lower at the end of Feb than I was at the start. I know any weight loss is good but I feel like I’ve been putting in good effort and as fat a fuck as I am now it feels like it should be more. I’m just coping by telling myself it’s retention from starting creatine and working out a lot more than I was, I read that ramping up exercise can keep your weight the same for 6 weeks even

>I’m just coping by telling myself it’s retention from starting creatine and working out a lot more than I was, I read that ramping up exercise can keep your weight the same for 6 weeks even
that's a pretty good cope. both of those cause weight stalling.
if you've never lifted heavy before, you'll stall for a couple of months at least.
but 6 lbs per month is a pretty good rate.
>>
I was thinking about getting a standing desk and a walking pad. Anyone have any experience with them? Like how realistic is it to play vidya while waking basically all day, roughly how many calories would that burn if instead of waking up sitting on my ass and playing games for 16 hours straight I spent that entire time walking.
>>
>>77119807
Thanks anon, out of interest what happens at the end of the stall? Do you get a lot of weight dropped at once or does it just start decreasing steadily?
Or is it a case-by-case basis?
I’d love it if I could step on the scale and suddenly be 10 lbs lighter
>>
>>
>>
>>77119818
calories? maybe
but out of the X burned calories, the fat portion of what was burned will be much smaller
untrained will burn way more carbs than fat
and the total kcal burned also doesn't have to be so one sided
if a fit person and a lazy fat fuck both walk the same 10 miles, the fat fuck will burn more calories, yes
but the fit person can do more miles in less time, and they can do it more often, etc. etc, (all the while burning way more grams of fat per each mile over the untrained person due to their)
for example
the unactive person will burn 600 kcal, but out of that only 30% is fat.
the active person will burn only 500 kcal, but out of that 75% is fat.
also again, the active person finishes the same walk/run/whatever sooner, with less breaks, and then can go for more, etc.
>>

Reminder that it is not this hard to not be fat or keep fat off in countries that are not the USA/UK/Canada/France. In those countries (France less so, but more and more since Jewvid) they are literally poisoning you with cattle hormones, vegetable oils, corn syrup and ground up babies. If you live for one month in a country with real food, like Italy, you will magically lose 10 lbs in the first month even with zero exercise, guaranteed.
>>
>>
>>77119812
They're both pretty solid investments if you're at a desk a lot. Or even if you're playing games/watching stuff on your tv a lot the walking pad is worth the investment. It takes some getting use to but if you're just lightly walking it's very easy to do controller gaming or typing. I wouldn't expect to be able to do anything that requires precision like drawing or FPS gaming with KBM though. That might be a given but in my case I was thinking walking and tablet drawing might be feasible. It's not really.
Only recommendations I have is don't cheap out, get high quality stuff, not just whatever is the cheapest with the best reviews on Amazon. A lot of those highly reviewed cheap standing desks are flimsy and small, and the walking pads are slow/lacking in features. I'd definitely get one that has an adjustable incline. And walk with shoes on.

as in they're on a keto diet for some time and their glycogen stores are depleted?
they'll probably feel more tired than usual and there's gonna be more catabolism happening
your body can burn only so much fat at a time to turn into energy. if it hits the limit (is already burning fat as fast as it can) yet still needs energy it'll start eating muscle or you'll just simply start feeling like shit, be exhausted and stop moving/ go way slower than usual
the trained person might not have this problem as their body can burn much more fat in the same time, thus being able to fuel itself mostly solely just off of fat and preventing that crash from happening

How can it get seriously worse? The uric acid is from being released from stored fat when weight is lost too quickly. It's not like I'm actually consooming my TDEE in beef liver every day. There's only so much uric acid to go around, and I won't be losing weight forever.
>>

>>77120452
Alright, if you want real solutions without moving (don't move, America is the greatest country in the world), you unironically have to sign up for food co-ops. Get as fresh ingredients as you can. If you can't do that, then unironically go to whole foods and pay more for fresher food. Cook every day. Even with an improved diet, you *need* to become active. I suggest starting to job 5-6 times a week, at least 45 minutes-1 hours each time. You don't have to go fast, you can literally basically just be walking, but jogging really slowly. If you do this (which is what I did), the fat will melt off.

Hi guys.
I've gone a long way in my weight loss journey: to reach a healthy body weight, or in any case to get very close to one, I had to lose 33 kg (72,8 pounds). A few days ago I reached past the halfway point: I've lost about 17 kg, and I need to lose about 16 kg (35 pounds).
The issue is that in the last few days I've been having a lot more issues with sticking to my diet and with doing my regular exercise, and I'm scared of giving up: I've tried to lost weight many times already, and for some reason or another I always failed around this time of the year: from December to March. I've lost more weight that I ever had before, and have not lost the motivation, but the fact that recently I've eaten much worse makes me really worried: I can't stand being fat anymore, I can't stand being so repulsive, and I can't stand the fact that all my friends have girlfriends or have had them while I'm still a virgin, and I can tell that it's mostly because of the way I look. I hate being insecure about my body whenever I find myself in a social setting, and I hate sticking out like a sore thumb wherever I go.
I want to and I have to reach my goal, whatever it takes to do so, but I'm really afraid that I'm gonna give up. From a rational standpoint, even the simple fact that I'm writing these things should reassure me that I still have the motivation to go on and that I will finish what I started, but I'm still afraid.

it's good to be afraid because yes you are correct, motivation is temporary. there will come a day where you want to go back to old eating habits.
and that's why you should concoct a diet and exercise plan that you feel okay with doing for the rest of your life. there's no shortcut.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>77120512
Keep it up anon.
You'll get to a point next year, or even later this year and one of two things will happen:
1) you'll look back and say, holy shit I'm glad I kept on with my journey
or
2) you'll look back and say, man, if only I'd kept on I'd be at my target weight now.
I've been #2 many, many times (41 years old now) and it fucking sucks.1 year of your life is tiny in the big picture.
You can do it. Also, try to shift your mindset away from "target weight" and more to "converting to a healthy lifestyle" if you can. Target weights are sometimes bad news because people can see it as a finish line that, when they cross it, they go back to how things were. Change your lifestyle permanently, and you don't run that risk (as much - nothings a guarantee).
I hope you keep on with it anon.

Hey man, I'm here from the other side, and I want you to know that the dream does come true. Spent all of my adolescence alone, and only made it out of college not a virgin because I caved when a friend of a friend asked if she could set me up with her desperate butterface roommate. I was pretty worthless looking until my early 20s, when I up and decided to get fit. Around about 20% BF, plus I made a small effort on my wardrobe that basically added up to shirts that have buttons instead of not, girls started looking my way.
All of my friends were more attractive than me up to that point, and I spent years being completely ignored by girls somewhat because of that. In retrospect, I needed uglier friends. But I'll never forget the first time a decent looking chick had walked up to us and singled me out to hit on. Amazing.
Now I'm years down that road, married out my league. A little advice:
>all the legends are true - the gays will come after you first
>don't marry the first chick that gives you the time of day - you'll have plenty of chances to enjoy yourself, and you'll regret getting locked down to a woman with a higher body count than yours
>practice on a disposable fatty or butterface or two, but do not impregnate - continue your ascension and move on
You're going to make it, Broseph. It's worth the struggle, and I know you can do it.

How much fat loss am I leaving on the table by not walking?
Monday thru Friday I wake up at 7am to get ready for work then sit at a desk in an office until 5pm. I come home, eat, get ready for the gym. Go to the gym at 7pm to do strength training. Get home at 9pm and relax until I go to bed at 12am. I'm really struggling to find time to walk, not unless I start going to bed earlier to wake up and walk before work.
Right now I rest on Saturdays and Sundays, but maybe I'll start going for 10k steps a day on the weekends.
This is all with a -1k calorie deficit. I'm still losing weight but it's not very consistent. Some weeks I'm dropping 2lbs, others <1lb. Wondering if I'm not doing enough since I'm not getting much walking in.

>>

Absolutely. I'm that same height and have dropped 16lbs since the first couple of weeks of January. You drop a lot of water weight at the start then slow down a little but 50lbs is easily achievable by then.

math time. I should make this a copypasta because there's always someone asking this
>you are 5'10, 308lbs
>you want to lose 50lbs
>your TDEE (assuming you are male, 30 years old, and are generally sedentary) is ~ 2,800 calories a day to maintain your current weight
>this is the link for the TDEE calc: https://tdeecalculator.net/
plug your stats into the calculator to get a better estimate
>a pound of fat is roughly equal to 3500 calories
>3500 * 50 = 175000 calories to burn
if you eat at a 500 calorie deficit (2300 calories a day)...
>175000 / 500 = 350
...it would take you 350 days to lose 50lbs
if you eat at a 1000 calorie deficit (1800 calories a day)...
>175000 / 1000 = 175
...it would take you 175 days to lose 50lbs
so, the answer is YES it's very possible to lose 50lbs by Christmas, which is in 298 days

Typical overcomplicated but intelligent sounding explanation based in the fact that open and closed systems behave differently. No shit they do, but that doesn't mean the laws that govern them apply differently
Also insinuates that hormones trump thermodynamics and can prevent fat loss while eating at a deficit, which is a condition I don't think has ever been observed in human history
It's completely pants-on-head retarded. Dont read this, its basically rage bait

My man i started 7 1/2 weeks ago and im down from 280 to 251 lbs at 6'3". You have a lot more bodyfat relative to how I started, so losing is going to be way easier for you. Just go figure out your tdee, start actually exercising and put together a diet plan you can stick too. At your weight if you tried hard enough and can stick to it you could be down 100 pounds by then.

Don’t know what to do here. She needs to lose about 10 kg, knows it, but refuses to almost as if to spite me. I think she eats in secret too.
Feels so unfair that I make a big effort with my appearance, but if I gently encourage her to do the same I’m an asshole.

She will see you getting in better shape and she will either get on board of her own accord or she wont. Do not try to convince her or argue about it, this is not a rational scenario.
Decide on an ammount of time it would take to be prepared to split up and if she isnt doing better by then just leave.
I know its harsh, but if she gains weight go spite you then staying with her will make her lose respect for you and if you force her to change with an ultimatum I cant see that ending well.

by how much are you increasing? i hope youre not

Lentil stew is my rock, you can add whatever seasoning you like and lentil soup's taste profile is very malleable, you can change it up a lot, just 100 grams is over 20 grams protein and a lot of fiber, ~300 calories and filling enough to easily work into TMAD

Ignore it, seasonings are fine. Actually more than fine, I'd say critical to actually enjoying food. Just be aware that depending on the seasoning and how much you're using, they are not necessarily 0 calorie add-ins.

Genuinely asking.
On Friday I have my first ever psychologist appointment (a woman, so I get to see if the memes are true), and over the course of the following appointments she will almost certainly offer to prescribe me SSRI's.
How bad do cravings and shit get on it? Any depressed fatties here on it? I don't trust them in the first place, and the supposed weight gain you get on them certainly doesn't help. I fluctuate between normal and fat, never obese, but mind altering shit like that spooks me so Idk.
Thing is, I probably do need them, or at least they would probably make things easier.

I was depressed when I was a vegan, until I found out that higher carb intake correlates with higher risk of depresion, anxiety, etc. Not saying keto will change your life, but at least try to remove all processed bullshit, and then everything with weat and rice and stick to that for a couple weeks. Other than that, Vitamin D (fish oil / cod liver oil) and good sleep. If that doesn't work, THEN try SSRI

SSRI experiences are highly anecdotal as they seem to work slightly differently for everyone, for what it's worth I never experienced significant weight gain while on any of them. Some lowered my libido a bit but it fully returns once you get off the drug, if that's a concern for you.
>Thing is, I probably do need them, or at least they would probably make things easier.
If you really want to get better you ought to at least be open to trying medication (which you seem to be), especially ones that aren't just regular SSRIs (if those turn out not to work for you) like venlafaxine or buproprion

I weigh myself daily but know full well the numbers average out over time. My scale has a Bluetooth app and all kinds of bullshit features that I don't really believe work right, but one thing it does is show a graph over time. So long as the graph line is pointed down, blips don't matter.

It has been 119 days since I started this.
I have lost exactly 74 pounds as of this morning.
I've gone a few days where the scale didn't really move, but math wise, that means I was losing about .6lbs every day.
Since I started at 424lbs, I know that eventually it will slow down, but when?
Will it slowing down be something I need to start planning for now? Or would it really not be much of an issue until I'm working at the weight under 300?

>when?
try checking your TDEE and put in your current weight, and then 300lbs, and check the difference. try other weight values too to see what the TDEE will be at what weight
https://tdeecalculator.net/
if the difference is significant enough, then you can make a plan to handle it

Standing burns roughly 88-186 calories per hour, only slightly more than sitting, while moderate walking (approx. 2.5-3 mph) burns significantly more, ranging from 210 to over 300 calories per hour. Standing is a low-impact NEAT activity (Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis), while walking provides double or triple the calorie burn and cardiovascular benefits.

For the first time in literal ages I actually just feel fantastic. I have energy, nothing's hurting, I feel super awake and I just want to jump around and stuff. And it's not anything doing it to me either, I haven't even eaten today and I haven't had any coffee or anything either.
Guess the weight loss and better diet is catching up to me in a good way. If this is how I feel as a 45-pounds-down fatass I can't wait to see what happens with more weight loss.

Man your like the exact kind of person ozempic was made for. You have such an unhealthy food relationship that its killing you mentally and physically. Go hop on a GLP-1 for Christ's sakes, at this point its time for the nuclear option for whatever the fucks going on in your head thats got you like this. Go seek a therapist as well, the shot should help clear up the symptoms/uncontrollable eating urges and the therapy might help you figure shit out so you dont eat like that again.

Current TDEE: 2,831
TDEE at 300: 2490
Alright, so it's going to go down by almost 400 calories in the next 50 pounds. Things will definitely start slowing down unless I move my intake from 1800 to 1500 by then.
Along the way, it looks like it will be...
>340lbs -> 2,763
>330lbs -> 2,694
>320lbs -> 2,626
>310lbs -> 2,558
So maybe I should start adjusting down from 1800 now since I just made it to 350.

If your clothes are all fresh and your wearing deodorant and showered it might be your dirty clothes are transferring a little hint of stank to your fresh ones, make sure your dirty hamper is completely separate and that your room itself doesnt smell a bit. Might also be its time to give your washing machine a cleaning, you could have a buildup of shit in it thats giving that musty/sweaty smell.

Could you just walk in place to emulate walking at a standing desk and burn significantly more calories? I can't have a under desk treadmill at work but I do have a standing desk. Might be leaving some extra calories to burn on the table...
>>
>>77121731
could be a good idea, especially if the 1000 calorie deficit is working for you
if you exercised more too, you'd definitely have more leeway. I'm 5'7, 184lbs and my TDEE is about 2700
also, gz on the progress. 74lbs is nothing to shake a stick at

Ask about wellbutrin. No weight gain symptoms. No sexual distinction. Better concentration if you have ADHD. Smoking cessation. Also works quicker. Took SSRIs for a long time and never felt like they did anything but do feel like Wellbutrin helps.
