My experience with nootropics
I tried several supplements in an attempt to support an optimal endicrone environment for vitality, fertility and hypertrophy, with terrible results.
My experience is that after a period of efficacy, my stress resistance is way less compared base levels, and I would say my base level stress resistance is on the low end of average, whereas after taking nootropics, in the cooldown period my stress resistance tanks to a point I actually become disfunctional.
I have experienced burnout on three occasions over the last five years putting me out of work for months. Currently I am coming out of a dip and I notice that after not taking nootripics for a while I am starting to get back to baseline stress resistance, building back confidence and agency.
This is of course all anecdotal and I can't for sure say if or how nootropics may have contributed to lowering and tanking stress resistance, or on the contrary whether they actually have been a factor in faster recovery and better resistance, in case the conditions for burnout were already present and triggered by other factors.
Either way, I feel better and more stable now without using them for the last couple of weeks.
I think using nootropics have caused me to perform at levels where I didn't notice or was able to ignore my physiological limits, only suffering the consequences after a hard crash.
Wanted to share my thoughts and was curious if other people have had similar experiences.
I can't say I'm definitely done taking them, but if I decide on continuing their usage, I need to manage intake better with longer cooldown periods to prevent a hard crash, while trying to prevent physical exhaustion because nootropics shut down the signals of when I am doing so.
I have tried primarily ashwaganda and shilajit.
On a side note, possibly influential factors, I have ADHD (and high functioning autism).
Share advice, tips, feedback, or drop a comment to tell me how retarded I am.

You should only use nootropics after you became efficient without mind-altering drugs due to better baseline brain architecture, otherwise you will go insane. It's the same way you should only use steroids after many years of natural lifting when you learn exercise technique and all your connective and neural tissue has time to adapt.

I was working out (and working) for years prior to taking these performance enhancing supplements. There was no lack of stable performance. I wasn't doing anything crazy, if their prescribed usage isn't considered crazy. I took them responsibly. I'm natty of course, so I was taking the route of I guess bio-hacking as it is called.
