What's the reputation of framework (as a product and as a company)?
It costs more that I need to pay for my usecase, but if I can service and upgrade it myself and get "2 laptops worth" out of it, then I can justify it as fair-price. But if it has usability or serviceability problems or the company is hard to deal with, etc., then I'll pass on it.
(Yes, laptop. It's assembled from components like a pc build so it's on topic.)
>>

Is a 9950x3d worth it or would i be better off going with an ultra 9? Planning on building a new PC, I just bought a MSI 5090 just unclear what CPU to pair it with. I primarily game, but i also do some 3D modeling and other stuff here & there. My last set up was a 9800x3d & a 4090, but the 9800x3d sorta sucked ass & felt dog shit when i was doing other tasks.

Yeah that’s all i really needed to see lol, thank you. I sold my desktop for 4500, I live not too far from a Microcenter where I can snag a 270k bundle for 650. I paid 2400 for a brand new unopened gaming trio 5090

how does their new laptop apu compare to amd?
is it available in mini-PCs?
or is that a bad investment since intel is about to turn over all their graphics to nvidia.

I bought two old (?) Cooler Master fans. They have the regular 3 pin connectors for power, but they also have LEDs that don't light up from plugging in just that. The fans also have this connector for powering the LEDs, but what do I connect it to? Can I just take the +5 and ground from a molex, or do I have to connect a resistor and/or use a custom LED controller?

I wanted to go ITX because I'm frankly starving for space. My current build is AM4 though (5900X) and my GPU is a fairly wide 9070xt (Powercolor Hellhound). I also have a 360 AIO (Corsair Titan).
Should I just upgrade my motherboard and case (mobo would need 4 RAM slots though)? It feels kind of stupid to buy an AM4 board in this day and age but from what I've seen RAM still hasn't fully dropped in price (it's still around 350€ for 32GB) and if I'm going to upgrade everything I would want a better CPU anyways than what I have (I also considered Intel).

The only reasonable option for DDR3 VRM wise seems to be the MSI B760 Gaming Plus Wifi but that would cap me to a 13600K which is still a good chip if no issues from what I can see, though the I/O is hilariously poverty tier compared to my X470 board

If you're on AM4, I don't think it's worth switching to LGA1700 if you're not going to manually tune the CPU & memory.
Skip the 12th gen, 13600K or the 14600K is a decent stopping point if you're not comfortable changing the CPU voltage.
13600K or 14600K doesn't request enough voltage at stock settings to be at danger of degrading.
You should set a maximum voltage limit of around 1.35~1.45V if you plan to get a 13/14th gen i7/i9, but there isn't much reason to get these at current prices.
>I never looked at switching to LGA 1700 from Zen 2 because everywhere I looked said it was slow with DDR4 versus Zen 3.
Maybe if you have trash memory kits, and the X3D chips will obviously be faster at certain games.
Pic compares a 14700K OC vs 5800X OC done by someone who knows what they're doing.

If you are on DDR4, people have been recommending Raptor Lake if you missed out on a 5800/5700X3D. I mean just look at the single core results for it versus Zen 3. Though there are tradeoffs I am sure.
I could get a 13600K and a B760 DDR4 board good enough to run it at full power for $450 right now if you are on Zen 2 or something.

Imagine shamelessly shilling this worthless trash. Sure these craptel cinebench cpus are fine on UE5 GPU bottlenecked games. But the second you play an actually cpu demanding multiplayer game like Tarkov, CS2, or BF6 it's fucking over. If you aren't a 50 year old man and play competitive multiplayer games there is no other choice but X3D. Cope.
>>
>>108573382
Okay, but we don't have X3D since 2 years now. Source games especially will prefer 96MB of L3 over 24MB I imagine especially on DDR4 but there really isn't much choice left other than Raptor Lake. That is the reality presently.

Zen 7 is coming to AM5 in 2029-2030 with 12 core ccds and will be much faster than current Zen 5 X3D. The value from getting to upgrade to that without changing your mobo or anything will more than make up for the higher cost of ram. Really the solution is to just stop being such a gigantic poorfag or just find a used DDR5 kit for a decent price.
>>
>>108573527

mobos cost nothing compared to ram right now, yes let's spend so much more to save $200 later

The performance of some thermal paste improves after a few weeks of heat cycles.
And maybe the ambient/case temperature was different from three weeks ago.
Run Cinebench r23, the multicore test score should be above 24.5K if the chip isn't thermal/power throttling (assuming your OS & background process isn't bloated).

This is coming from someone who had to buy a used DDR5 memory kit because he waitfagged for the nonexistent 2025 Black Friday memory sales.

And new memory kits & new motherboards will get the most out of those CPUs, especially considering the rumors of improved IMC & faster memory speed sweet spot.

Can't believe I'm agreeing with this anon but yeah the moment there is a 1% performance increase from faster RAM on newer Zen the script is suddenly going to flip from just buy into AM5/DDR5 now to enjoy the new CPUs later to suddenly needing a new kit to enjoy the new CPUs

The wire might be 17 amps rated but it's improbable the pins could be. You can't reasonably increase the surface area of the pins themselves.
Best you can do is just eliminate any variance until you get to the pins. Thicker wire gauge and joining all the positive conductors at each end would help.

I did figure it out btw and currently am stable with 6200mhz and some stuff tightened down to 70.5 ns of latency from 78.5 in aida 64, cinebench also went up a few hundrend points. Not finished yet tuning everything yet but I expect sub 70 once I'm done.

All this talk about buying and keeping a DDR5 kit is going to just completely fly out the window the moment a faster kit is any faster no matter how small.
It wouldn't surprise me if new kits where bought just because some intern from AMD announced a new "sweet spot" even before the benches arrive.

The concept of the Ummah (the collective community of Islamic peoples) is central to Islamic identity and theology. It transcends geographical, linguistic, and ethnic boundaries to create a global sense of belonging.
Here are the top five reasons why the Ummah is significant:
1. Spiritual Unity and Equality
The Ummah is built on the foundation of Tawhid (the oneness of God). In this framework, all believers are considered spiritually equal regardless of their social status or race. This unity is best exemplified during the Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca), where millions of people from different backgrounds perform the same rituals in identical clothing, symbolizing a shared identity before God.
2. Social Solidarity and Mutual Support
A core principle of the Ummah is the idea that the community is like a single body; when one part suffers, the whole body feels the pain. This translates into a strong emphasis on Zakat (almsgiving) and Sadaqah (voluntary charity). The Ummah creates a global network of social responsibility, aiming to support those facing poverty, conflict, or natural disasters.
3. Preservation of Shared Values
The Ummah acts as a guardian of Islamic tradition, ethics, and law. By maintaining a collective identity, the community ensures that core values—such as modesty, hospitality, and justice—are passed down through generations. This shared moral compass provides a sense of stability and continuity in an ever-changing world.
4. Transnational Identity
Unlike modern nation-states defined by borders, the Ummah offers a supranational identity. For many, this provides a profound sense of "home" anywhere in the world. Whether a person is in Indonesia, Morocco, or the United Kingdom, they can find common ground with others through shared prayers, dietary laws (Halal), and the Arabic language used in worship.

a PC with legacy bios and no UEFI cant boot from drives larger than 2TB and has trouble detecting drives larger than 2.2TB, correct?
i was wondering if i could set up some of my old large hard drives on an old PC to use as NAS but it seems that this will be a limiting factor
also how hard is it to set up RAID? i have a bunch of old PCs and even older IDE drives around, and some PCI cards for IDE raid modes
Do i need specific hardware support for raid or can it work through software?

>But could they not just price gouge like everyone else?
That will reduce demand & revenue for Framework laptops.
They need enough sales to retain favorable volume contracts for the other components.
Even if you choose the bring your own memory/storage option, I doubt the overall value is better than a Lenovo or something else.
>>
>>
>>108575785
For legacy BIOS, you must have an MBR booting partition (max 2.2 TB).
You can then use GPT initialized +4TB secondary drives/partitions for that PC on OS that support GPT data disks.
This is possible because the OS takes over drive management after booting.
>also how hard is it to set up RAID?
It's arguably the easiest time to learn how to set up RAID or make other PC tweaks.
Software RAID is easy to set up, all modern OS supports it.

Steam Machine is going to be very weak, I think if the 2TB + controller version comes in at over $700 it will be doa.
Linux and SteamOS are going to be doing the heavy lifting here.
any higher than $700 and you might as well just buy an AMD APU mini-PC that will use half the power and have the same/better performance.
not like this thing is upgradeable either. the cpu and gpu are soldered in.
