stop the soulseek shill, it's gone to shit and it's full of transcoded "flac" files that are actually mp3s. Unless you know a reliable user that has everything you want and you know he/she has the true formats, then it's not worth using it, you're better off streaming or just torrenting from rutracker or some other shit.
>>
>>
>>108919849
That's...unfortunate. Looks like a manufacturing defect.
>>108919815
I was considering this as an "endgame" IEM for my WM1Z but I was worried about the pairing considering they are both considering very warm and bass centric.
>>
>>108919942
I typically search for individual songs/albums that contain a log file and I always download the logfile and check it via RED's logchecker. A lot of the times the 100 / 100 scored logfiles are the exact same as the ones uploaded to RED.

it's not perfect I know it's about how you use it. I'm sure at least once I blindly downloaded a random “24-bit FLAC” sourced from mp3. funniest part is that a lot of the same people screaming about “transcoded FLACs” are listening to clipped masters where the shitty mixes dwarf codec artifacts anyway

per latest string of sharur videos i have purchased the samsung AKG EO-IG955 ($13.35) and the Spinfit W1 eartips ($11.99) and EQ'd to the peqdb diamond curve. i can independently confirm that this is in fact absolutely decimates significantly more expensive audio equipment. even dolby atmos through apple music sounds fantastic. there is no reason to waste any more money than this on audio equipment and all of the shifi waifu shit is a complete waste of time.

I'm looking for a mid-tier desktop headphone DAC/amp that has a preamp bypass which allows one to use the DAC at line level. Also a good solid state headphone amp... capable of driving planars. The goal is to own a solid state amp that'll drive planars which can have its DAC piped to a tube amp (pre&power, input at line level) for driving dynamic phones.
The only pseudo example of this I've found so far is the Fosi ZD3, which is a DAC/preamp with a preamp bypass switch. It doesn't have a headphone out, so uses the preamp only for volume control on external gear. If the Schiit Magni Unity had a preamp bypass switch like the ZD3 does, for example, it'd be perfect.
Maybe this product doesn't exist. Big opportunity, if so.

Thanks anon. I've seen someone else have these as their "endgame" IEM paired with the WM1Z but they apparently sold it a year later so I was wondering if it had something to do with the overall synergy between them IEM and source.

so, uhhh, the aegis.
tamer low end but the bc is still very present and rumbly, much better mids on choobes. still thumpy but not forehead scrunchingly so. i actually really like it.
from two threads ago, yeah, it is a bit close sounding but not claustrophobic or "intimate" (imo anyway). imaging's there but not 'holographic'. i mean, that low end really muddles it up but not particularly in a bad way, it's hard to explain.
anyway, it's staying out of the box. im quite enjoying my time with it. now to determine which of the other dailies gets boxed.

>real vinyl rips
I never search specifically for vinyl rips anyhow. I have some, but only because they were seemingly the only available format of what I was looking for.
>scratch pop bullshit with one channel louder than the other
this unironically. I have my own vinyl collection I just listen to on bookshelf speakers. Never felt the need to rip my vinyl collection or anything, they're just for the mood.

>>108926147
You don't search for them specifically, you search flac and there's a high chance it's a vinyl rip which will sound worse than 128kbps mp3.
>>
>>108922003
If you want comfort and have tiny ears like me, you want the smallest and lightest IEMs you can find.
For that I recommend you the Letshuoer S08s. They're tiny, lightweight, sound good, they've planar drivers (respond excellently to EQ), they're pretty inexpensive.
But If you want to explore other options, check out Audio Amigo on youtube, the guy does fit tests on his wife's ears for every IEM he reviews.
After you get whatever IEM you want, test every ear tip size to see which one fits you best. Then, buy a pair of liquid silicone ear tips in that size. My recommendations for comfort are: Divinus Prism, AZLA Sednafit Origin or HE sonic Galaxy.
Ear tips make a huge difference in comfort.
If you tend to feel sore or like the IEMs just had sex with your ears, you're probably using an ear tip size too large for you
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>108926177
>you search flac
you're assuming too much about my intent and I don't specifically go for flac. I should have clarified that when I mentioned I never seek vinyl rips previously.
anyhow, the lowest bitrate mp3 I have is like 112kbps and its bumpin, even for an electronic track.
I have a question for you though. What's your opinion of DSD vinyl rips?
>>
>>
>>
>>108926425
for me, my library amounts to basically a single genre. I just wanted everything remotely related to my favorite artists. all the shit they've released.. and the labels they're on, all those artists and their entire discographies too, all of it.

I'm in Japan, which wireless IEM should I buy thanks to the low JPY and tax free? Might as well make it a local brand while I'm at it. I really like Final Audio signature out of their wired offering (currently using Final Audi Make4, but I liked what I heard out of the E3000/E4000, didn't have the chance to try E5000).
What wireless model would be gud for my ears, ideally available at Bic Camera/Sofmap?

With a budget of $1000, are there any good PMPs that are 100% physical controls, and play flac off of an SD card? Preferably with a metal body, and not running android or whatever.

you guys are using soulseek wrong and so are most people on soulseek, which is why its hard to find good rips.
you're supposed to go on discogs and find the catalog id for the exact pressing you want then search that. and you're supposed to tag your own rips with their catalog id's.
only maybe 10% of soulseek users properly categorize their music and a lot of the ones with the good collections are the niggers who make you dm them and suck them off to get access to their library. sometimes you will have to wishlist albums to find the one guy who has it properly tagged online. for more obscure music you might have to download multiple untagged copies and use the powers of deduction to figure out which pressing it is and tag it yourself, luckily obscure music tends to only have a few reissues.
the more people that start using soulseek correctly and tagging their albums correctly, the easier it is for everyone to get good rips.
>>
>>
>>
the other thing that's stupid about anti-soulseek shill's argument is: what's the alternative?
spotify and tidal? unless you're only listening to current music, you're almost always going to get a shitty sounding loudness wars era repress on there. all older music is going to be a remaster. they just use whatever pressing is cheapest and easiest to get the digital rights to, not the best sounding one.
buying and hoarding physical media off of discogs?
>>
>>
>>108926425
320k and equivalent sounds fine if there aren't hi hats or if the hi hats are sampled. you can hear the effect of compression the easiest in hi hat decay, its like of like the ai generated music swoosh swoosh sound that lets your brain instantly identify music as ai generated, but not as bad and not as noticeable. but once you hear it you can never unhear it.
i keep all the best bands in a genre and the genres i listen to most in lossless and i'm fine with compressing the more 'archival' side of my library.
>>
>>
hello /hpg/, friend tried some porta pros and thinks they're too bassy and muffled. what are some cheap treble ear rape on-ear headphones? iems don't work, and around-ears don't work, has to be on-ear. is there really anything out there for on-ears these days?

I had to wear an on-ear for 3 months a long time ago and I hated every moment of it. Never again. I don't understand how people enjoy wearing them. As for suggestions I think most of the Grados fit the bill. SR60X and Hemp etc.

>>108929740
Regardless of catalogue ID, do you think it's a solid practice to search for the album name with "log" added to the search term? I've done this for several albums I was looking for and I was actually able to find FLAC rips with log files that are 1:1 the same as RED rips.

kinda shallow compared to my edc pro and waner. also less comfy than both. its the huge nozzles and the angular shape i guess. maybe tip rolling can help with that so im planning to get some dunu ss tips.
sound wise...whoa, its totally different than any usual kz slop and harman pos. as they say, its a warm-neutral or tilted JM-1. my initial thought: theres a little bit of mud (or, """""warmth""""), but also at the same time, instrument seperation is pretty good on busy tracks compared to the edc pro.

oh i also bought a KZ T8 tuning cable. and waow...im surprised it actually works well. i was expecting just a slight difference, but it is definitely noticable at the max setting on either bass or treble. setting the bass switch at the lowest (DDUU) totally removes all the mud and warmth. i dont have a coupler to measure or a Hexa to compare but i'd imagine it would sound similar to a stock Hexa. the sweet spot for me one notch down (DUUU), it cuts down on mud a little bit while still sounding pleasantly warm.
>>
>>
>>108931920
I don't care for bass as I listen to instrumental music like orchestral or jazz fusion prog shit so I'll be fine with that. I care about it being slightly warm, towards neutral, nothing too complicated.

I have a single pair of IEMs that sounds better, but the comfort and convenience makes it just not worth reaching for.
My previous pair of TWS was mediocre so I didn't see the hype but I get it now.
>>
>>108935353
I mean, the grade of comfort and convenience sacrificed isn't that big, at least for me. I just plug the IEMs in the DAP and I'm good to go. It's understandable if you have a phone -> DAC -> IEMs kind of thing going on, it doesn't look pretty at all.

quick impression post for the archive
>Linear Tube Audio Z10E + Totaldac d1-biunity
Very smooth, grain-free listen. Unlike other summitfi tube amps, there is no loss in bass dynamics. Analog neutral with a tinge of sweetness, albeit not as sweet as the La Scala or Viva 2A3. Staging is middling, but the smoothest treble presentation yet. I speculate that Totaldac is doing the heavy lifting here. Some tube amps have that characteristic "tube sparkle", but this stack is just mildly darker than the M27Ti in the treble region.
Because of impedance mismatch, Tet is quite bassy on the Z10E. No issues with Storm.

Unless you're buying a standalone DAC with line outputs only the DAC chip doesn't mean anything. If you aren't the entire product must be tested. And there are caveats even if the product was tested. No test will tell you something enters power saving mode when there's no sound and destroys your notification sounds. Only reviews.

Nostalgia XWB - its a medium-bore with inner groves to boost lower treble. Its the best of both worlds because you get the bass response of a medium-bore and the treble air of a wide-bore. It's just unfortunate that the tip has a loose-fitting stem so it falls off some IEMs. That's why I'm using Tangzu Brass on my Storm instead.
Divinus Velvets/Wide-bore are also classic staples but they are stiff hardshell tips so I can't deepfit my IEMs when using them.
For metal tips I like Tangzu Brass and Azla Mythril - just the right amount of treble coloration without sounding too metallic like the Shanling SE100 or Pentaconn Coriers.
Azla Crystals and Spiral Dot FX12 are also staples. I rarely use generic medium-bore tips like AET07 because I find that they cause the midrange to sound congested and muddy.

I'm friends with some people in the industry, and insiders love gossiping. Not sure about price yet, but word on the street is that its 7,000~10,000 RMB, personally I think it's horseshit considering I paid 6.7k USD for the dap but we'll see. From picrel it looks small enough to be a daily carry but that's just me.

Twin that's like 1.5k American foreskins and this isn't as cool as the DUNU one. The track select buttons alone make it better. I'm looking to pay 300-400 tops lmao. It's just a CD player after all. Zero benefits over a dekstop system or a phone/dap. I just got my lil Maxell cassette player to play my lil cassettes every now and then and what a cool lil CD player to spin my CDs every now and then and be performative when I go to the cafe.

To summarize there's a bunch of really trash ones. Then there's fi*o and they're grounded from receiving my money. Then there's the two Shanling ones, which are pretty lit, BUT allegedly have high output impedance, which isn't good for IEMs, and also the one with the tubes has a tube in it, and is quite frankly a bit overpriced I'd say. Waiting for more info on the new Shanling EC Play one. Surprised there aren't already reviews on it, unless maybe it's out in China and they're China exclusive. That one's kinda not that high spec though, although I might get it. I do want a carrying strap for it though, and I don't see any being advertised.
Basically I have a few autistic wants that aren't satisfied by any current model.

Shanling EC Zero AKM looks right up your alley imo
>$319 msrp
>0.6/0.8 ohms output impedance
>pu case+carrying strap (see picrel)
Fuck the one with the tube, considering how poorly the Fiio DM15 measured I have zero expectations for cheap chinese R2R CD players
>>
>>108951290
This is the one I have as my backup option while I wait a few more months for something else to come out. Just not impressed by the DAC it it. It's just standard. I was interesting in having an R2R meme just for variety in my "collection", but I feel like you're right about cheap R2R.

Help me out IEM bros. I cannot find the right IEMs no matter what it seems.
I'm trying to find something that it's not too treble or bass heavy but not neutral and boring sounding either.
I tried both the Tanchjim Zero & One and I didn't like either of them. Tried Etymotic but the deep insertion was absolutely not for me so I ended up selling them.
I really like the sound of the Grado SR80e if that's of any help.
It seems maybe the Moondrop Chu would potentially suit my tastes but I'm after bullet style IEMs specifically.
Detachable cable is a must. Bonus if the cable has a volume control but preferably without a microphone.

>>108955101
>bullet with replaceable cable
This alone filters like 99% of options. Grado is mid-centric. You should probably check out flatheads. Or just EQ your jims. Imagine paying for sound in the big 26.

okay then your choices are:
- zero ultima - very comfy, but this has bad channel imbalance
- tin hifi c0 elf - this has better channel balance but you need to tape the back with micropore tape to get any level of bass back, but it is not comfortable as a bullet, thankfully it can be used as a traditional IEM as well.
Between the two I prefer the comfort of the zero ultima, but I prefer the sound of the elf with the back taped, it's just uncomfy to wear bullet style.

As in the sliders becoming loose or the sliders literally falling off/otherwise breaking irreparably?
>>108954482
It's kind of stretching the budget.

Is an amp required for those? I'd prefer something I could use with a phone.

Maybe the wrong place to ask but I'm looking for a pair of headphones that are good sound quality but a bit more comfortable to wear for extended periods of time than the koss porta pro. I also don't want to spend 300 dollars on headphones, anyone got some recommendations? Ty

Does anybody know if i can get some earbuds in this formfactor but wired? We're not allowed phones or bluetooth at work and i need something that wont fall out of my ears, i cant get regular flat heads or silicone tips to stay in my ear while moving :(

I camt be the only guy with a large outer ear? I have seen nobody mention that the truthear gates dont fit well on big ears. I tried all the different tips to no avail. It is the shape of the thing that just fits bad. It leaves a hole in my ear because its too small. On both ears its the same. A shame because i liked the sound. Did i fall for some shitty meme?

i used to have a panasoni, sonh and sennheiser flatbud with a hook. the sennheiser one i think is one of those adidas collabs that's waterproof or someshit. you could probs search for wired sports earbuds.
or if you dont mind completely open/pseudo bone coduction, you could get one of these avantree resolves

Why are these still in the OP? They feel like they're made out of paper. Sound like garbage. The noise of the cable rubbing on your clothes is really loud. There are so many better options. Fuck these things.

What's a decent IEM in the $100 ~ $300 range to listen to Kessoku Band (Bocchi the Rock!) songs?
I want to hear the bass really well without fucking up the rest of the sound.

Hexa or Pure?
I'm gonna pull the trigger on the Xenns Top Pro and i want something to fulfill the position in the middle of my Zero Red's and the Top Pro's. I would appreciate any other suggestions around this price range too.

is this the thread to get recommendations for earbuds? I hate wearing headsets but I'm fine with sticking earbuds in.
I need something for my desktop. I only have speakers right now (Vanatoo T0) and a webcam that I also use as a microphone, so it's very low quality. I want some earbuds for when I have to be quiet. they'll mostly be used for gaming, sometimes directional audio matters and I can still get that from my speakers so I'd hope earbuds could do the same.
any recommendations? are they all USB now? if they use the 3.5 or 2.5 mm jack is it fine to plug-in to the front of my PC, or do I need to route it to the back? or do I need to also get some kind of DAC to plug things into?
I would prefer earbuds with a microphone but it's not mandatory if the quality of sound is really good. my phone doesn't have a headphone jack anymore, but it does have usb-c, and my computer has usb-c too.
thanks broskis.

Pure should have better mids and slightly tamer treble. Hexa only if you prefer extra treble and "air" in general.
Crin's DayBreak looks very similar to Top Pro ngl and is substantially cheaper. I'd rather get cheaper shit, different shit or wait-chad it out tbdesu. Just my 2c

Judging by the graphs alone, the Pure doesn't seem to have those weird peaks in the upper the treble, unlike the Hexa. Probably gonna choose the Pure over the Hexa.
Now that you had mentioned the Daybreak, i noticed that the Top Pro have some weird peaks, mainly the 7khz one and those around 10 to 15khz, unlike the Daybreak. I'm wondering if they make the hi-hays and cymbals too harsh and peaky..

What did you buy on aliexpress/hifigo ect summers sale?
For me it was only 2pin cable with metal plugs, less than 30USD, not much but i dont really need anything new. I wanted crinear reference but already have pair of neutral full size headphones and somewhat midrange oriented iems so fuck that consumer shit.
I have on my list pair of ZMF Caldera pads but fuck that price, in EU they are like 150USD per pair, i think cheap 20USD aliexpress knockoffs will get me 90% way there.
Is there anything excited in this hobby or everything has already been done?
