Betty Edward's book on drawing on the right side of the brain and Loomis and Xiao Weichun.
I would recommend learning using the grid method and drawing bounding shapes from Krenz week 0 as it's basically just bargue drawing training but taught by a guy who speaks Chinese and draws animu

Does anyone have advice for getting clean lines while drawing with a pen tablet? I can't stop chicken scratching. I can't even draw a straight line let alone accurate contours. I've already tried putting a piece of paper over it and it barely helped. Are there any exercises that are good for practicing this? It's very frustrating.

I picked up Drawing on the Right Side of the brain, did a couple of the first exercises and started working digitally. Worked on this throughout the day on and off partially using a grid. I'm not looking for any particular critique, just sharing.

Reread the name after your question and apply his techniques in freehand while not obsessively reaching for perfection. Guess what? Mechs are all cubes, cylinders and spheres so you're shit out of luck, you'll have to actually go at it pencil in hand over building literal lego blocks until it clicks for you and you'll be able to guess where to put the marks on the paper without multiplication, division and mirroring.
Also watch some live streams of random good fuckwads doing mechs, you'll probably want to learn things like scale too if you didn't accidentally gleam it from Robertson already.

Try Nicolaides if Vilppu gesture didn't work for you. Gesture is one of those things that has a million different methods depending on who you ask, just keep trying different methods out until one clicks for you. As long as you're feeling/capturing the energy of the pose, it's gesture. Visual accuracy to the photograph and accuracy to the feeling/energy of the figure in the photograph aren't necessarily the same thing.

I had to search up the Dan old man or icantdraw artist because of the OP out of curiosity. This is something that i'll never understand until the day I die. When I compare these artists to myself they always get traffic on their first post. And it's always because it's #FGO related. I'm not directing my hate towards the artist but rather the subject material itself Fate. Much like Ebora, is there some kind of secret discord that kicks these people off. Because I've witnessed the dedicated fate bot that reposts certain keywords for fate. Just really frustrated that I took the internet's advice to draw consistently for 5 likes while others are obviously doing better than me in less the time. Because because of Fate crap and melty ass. It can't be that popular. I'm crashing out.
>>
>>
>>
>>7888995
I'm not that familiar with fate. I guess there's like 3 sabers but they're also king Arthur. I don't get it. That's the blonde girl with the fox ears? I'll draw that girl taking BBC while getting snuffed by my artist OC persona. Because it's time travel from the game right? Because captain Jack sparrow is in the game but it's not him. Do the tags work or should I use pixiv. My twitter is so fucked because my followers probably hate and report me for lolz.

You’re sort of fucked either way, only a small amount of people can finish a good piece really fast. I try to work like an hour or 2 to not burn myself out but the slows me down and it could take me days to finish which is why some spend like 5 hours or more.

hot anime grils UwU, i wish jannies weren't fags about furry art though. i'd love to share.
0.9 kilobytes of data has been added. i finished the officer lounge, the adjacent hallway, and the brig. deck 2 just needs its bridge and gravity lift generator room retrofitted, before i can move on to completing the remaining half of the main deck (deck 3). so far, i have been completing two rooms per session, and doing at least one session every other day. at this rate, it will take me a couple weeks to finish the ship (deck 3 has many mirrored rooms in the aft half). this is my very last covenant ship to retrofit before moving onto other projects.
i really want to get started on floor plans for my skaven gunboat, but i need adamkop to make me the template first.

and this image is my first covenant ship, but also the most recent one i've actually finished updating. you'll have to view it up close to see the detailing of the pixel art. i have everything scaled where 1 pixel is a 5x5 centimeter square, although for human-sized vessels i'm starting to us 4x4 instead. covenant ships are all scaled up about 40%

from the op. As tracing doesn't train accuracy, I'd say it's largely useless for a beg. Grinding boxes is also useless because there are no proper constraints in the 250 box challenge. You just eye ball random boxes without thought. I think he even recommends a "Y" shape generator to generate the orientation of boxes so that you can be more of a soulless golem

Could you be more specific on why tracing doesn't train accuracy?
Also, I believe the constraints for the 250 box challenges are the 3 different point perspectives you can use on a cube, for example, a cube on it's corner would have 3 vanishing points. And they seem like reasonable constraints.

nta Tracing should be moreso used to test out things like breaking images down into shapes. It'll help with placement sure but accuracy maybe not. But it also depends on what you mean by tracing I think.
Most "turbo begs" are pretty dumb/ignorant when ti comes to breaking things down into shapes, so if anything, they should be working on controlling strokes. If they're tracing images, they'lre likely not making any real notes in the process other than superficial things that would only apply to that image, rather than drawing as a whole.
I'm no professional, but this is what I've seen people tracing come away with. (and people in this thread, honestly)

How do one draw upside down/rotated or why does drawing upside down are rather complicated. Like your brain can't do forms unlike the usual forms. What's the tips to do through this
>>
>>
>>7890592
You kinda gradually learn to do it until there is no difference no matter what orientation you're drawing in. But I think you can't really force yourself to learn it. I made it a habit kinda accidentally. I started doing it back when I started drawing to avoid smearing my lines with my hand without even really thinking about it. Now I draw upside down and sideways more than normal orientation.
Not really sure how others go about learning to draw from every direction or how common doing this is

>>
>>7890559
You don't need to measure proportions if you trace so you don't develop the skill. At most you can memorize patterns and improve mark making.
With the box challenge you do aim to make the box make sense and then you check whether it converges correctly which is something but it's leaving a lot on the table and it's definitely not engaging. Simply low ROI, would not recommend. A more useful challenge would be to plot out a cityscape or maybe some box people fighting. Get you thinking of "ok I want to be looking up at this box, how do I do that?" or "ok this box I need to be rotated 45 degrees in relation to the last box, how do I do that?". At the end of the day "just draw" reigns supreme so pretty much anything will work but if you don't feel a particular pull to draw 250 arbitrary boxes, don't fret and know you'll be drawing countless boxes when actually drawing cool stuff anyway
>>
>>7890559
Cause you need to be understanding the WHY instead of just thinking of the image as a whole. When you trace you get the image spot on but gain little understanding of the forms and perspective that create the structure of the piece.
You can absolutely come to these conclusions via tracing but I think 90% of the people I see trace on here are just thinking “look at how perfectly I drew this anime girl,” which produces zero gains whatsoever.

I feel like when drawing there is a choice of either drawing what you feel or what you see and copy over lines, to draw what is being felt is like walking on a tightrope with your pencil but fundamentally captures that feeling of the scene which makes people say it's a good drawing, however technically copying is easier and gets easier and easier as you get confidence with your lines. In the end I think it's like riding a bycycle - everything in life seems like it, where you learn to feel and remember feeling - I think we only every remember feelings anyway.
There is also an aspect of getting a feeling like you're interacting with someone when you draw, as if giving form again to some soul who died and became a ghost after some bad deed, and you can ask for something in return to fulfill your perverse desires - perhaps something you can play out in Heaven as heaven might just be a realm where you can bring imagination to life instantly and play out scenarios.
Well I uses to post here and sometimes people would say this isn't BEG/ and sometimes people would say it's just object drawing, I did draw a few Loomis, but I want to treat it like riding a bycycle because how could you repeat what's not fun and how could you master what you don't practice.
Anyway I also think it's okay to draw your literal relative women nude, women who are supposed to be in place of daughters and sisters, as long as it's on paper - to be a pervert and wonder what their bodies look like, what the hair on their vagina might be like and so on...
As long it's all through art and not direct of course, and I would never tell of course,
It's hilarious how the nicest of person can be just as intense a pervert.
For this drawing, this bitch cheated and I think she will have to cheat with me again in whatever plane she has to pay be back in.
Don't know how that relates to the reference women of course which is Krewella Jahan,

George Bataille, French essayist, philosophical theorist, and novelist, often called the "metaphysician of evil." Bataille was interested in sex, death, degradation, and the power and potential of the obscene. He rejected traditional literature and considered that the ultimate aim of all intellectual, artistic, or religious activity should be the annihilation of the rational individual in a violent, transcendental act of communion

I'm genuinely happy I have a way lower libido than when I was younger, I don't have to be a dancing monkey for women anymore since I don't desire sex as intensily. Now looking back I fail to see how the average male tolerates women at all if it weren't for sex. They're objectively evil and narcissistic.
I should have just banged escorts when I was younger instead of sleeping with fat sluts at parties after facing loads of rejections

Art school is full of a lot of unhinged men so I don't really blame the women for reacting to you in that way. I had one follow me around trying to tell me about the intricacies of fucking anime tit animations in porn, and wouldn't leave no matter how I asked. Another followed me home. It's a nightmare location so don't get your hopes up.
