Based BALCS proponent. You also have to use soft armor with a lot of plates, including military SAPIs, ESAPIs, XSAPIs, for them to reach full protection. You get a slight performance upgrade with standalone plates as well, but it's not much. Primarily BFD reduction and a slight v50 increase.

Also, are there lower picatinny prism options than Absolute (1.42")?

I could, the rifle I posted I could buy tonight though
The primary issue I'm facing is a state law one, they tried to pass a bunch of jackass restrictions that fortunately stalled out this legislative session and I would like to get a rifle before they try again so I can get grandfathered in if worst comes to worst and they do pass something

For me it's easier to super impose the dot if you cover the front of the optic, so you don't get an odd double image through the magnification.
Almost worth getting a front lens cover for the ACOG over it.

I'd try and get a stacked dot but its not the worst using 4x as a dot in a pinch.
Trijicon has all of their ACOG covers and flash killers on Amazon $80 for the whole kit.
You need the flash killer for the front cover I believe.
Putting the front cover down over an optic for room clearing or whatever is an old school kind of thing I hear.
Id probably just stack a dot on top though unless you don't like it.

Hell yeah, soft armor with plates is the goated move. I kinda regret getting a jpc 2 just because it’s damn near impossible to fit soft armor in with the plates. I should be able to get soft armor cumberbunds and a groin pad though so I should still be gtg. I might consider upgrading in the future though because I don’t imagine it lasting too long if I start training more

We learned that adding an extra 1.2" of barrel solved reliability and lethality issues brought up by simple things like running unsuppressed or shooting people further than 40 yards
>are carbine length 14.5”s really that much worse
Nah but mid-length is the modern gassing for 14.5" barrels and the original question didn't specify so I picked the best gas system length.

Carriers can be wonky with thicker armor packages. My Tasmanian Tiger TT vest is able to fit IIIA behind 1.2" thick Protech 2230s, but I REALLY gotta work them in there.
The plates can handle .30-06 M2AP by themselves over 3,510ft/s (Level IV spec is 2,910ft/s max), so this is just future-proofing for hybrid case chicanery down the road.

I'm considering a KAC CRS-3 since it checks off all the boxes for me
>lighter and shorter than RC2 and velos
>quieter than the original PRT
>low back pressure
>incredible flash reduction
>can use a shroud that integrates into the mount to reduce glowing
>uses a mount with a proper locking system
>fixed the issue of excessive baffle errosion with 3 prongs by reinforcing the areas where jetting occurs
I should do it bros. I still want to shoot with out the can so I want a flash hider instead of a brake. My only hold up is something better coming out in a month.

What he's trying to say is that UHMWPE plates lose to M855 very easily. Some people run these because they make full Level III spec and weigh under 3lb, some even 2lb. However, M855 needs velocity to pen Level III PE plates reliably and you aren't getting that out of a 10.3".
Everyone in /gq/, A2 included, still recommends against PE plates because no manufacturer advertises standoff requirement against M855 (many won't even test) and so it has to be assumed they would lose to M855 all the time. You ideally want minimum M855A1 + M80A1 protection and PE plates fall SUPER short of that.

What’s the top selections for t2 mounts?
On a separate note, are there better options than the t2 these days?
Seems like so many years have passed and t2s are still as expensive as ever. Has anything more reasonably priced that’s 90% as good come out?

What gun cleaner/solvent do you guys use on your ars?
I pretty much just use ballistol and coom oil; and every once in a while using an actual solvent like mpro-7 gun cleaner. Seems to be a fine routine.
Was thinking about trying slip-2000 gun cleaner when I run out of Mpro-7.
>>
>>64891996
>what's the actual difference
I have both and my URGI is my "main" right now. The URGI uses two set screws to even itself out against the receiver. The super duty uses a puzzle piece in the rail that it slots into. The puzzle piece is supposed to be better. The URGI is supposed to have a DD barrel while the Super Duty has a Geissele barrel. These are the two biggest differences that I've seen. I also accidentally made a proper URGI but it's soon going to be replaced with a Geissele barrel and the DD tossed into something else.

They'll kill me for saying this but I don't think the barrel profile between the two makes enough of a difference. Also less convinced of the virtues of a heavy barrel profile for the larp use cases of carbines as I read more and more.
In a fireteam setting it would seem the most common point of contact to require magdumps that would necessitate heavier profiles is when you're trying to *break* contact with full auto. I have never been on a battlefield.

does it matter is epstien and the other elites were eating kids or not? of course it matters for the people effected and it makes these freaks infinity more repugnant and evil but i mean on a societal level. Do you think normies would be more willing to rise against the mossad/cia built order if it was true than they are right now? i dont think so, i think if youre nor willing to do something at the baseline understanding that basically every politician and rich scumbag on the planet was buying child sex slaves from some hook nose merchant that youll never be willing to do shit. I think the only reason people care is because they would rather get sucked into a rabbit hole and consoom this tragedy like its content instead of participate against it politically, its easier and more fun to say "this is only the tip of the iceberg"
>>
>>
>>
>>64892441
Is that a gen 1 DD MFR?
To your post desu there's been a shift. Even more moderate normies have become somewhat "radicalized" which is why you now see those memes of "work and family" being the only thing preventing great violence. Also the fact that it's unconcentrated. Realistically it shouldn't matter who the president is because this has been going on for several administrations and long overdue, but because of the current prez half the population has been rendered inert. The same can be said when a Dem takes office but the inverse. Such is the result

absolutely correct regarding admins, either party winning is to make half the population docile while the other half wastes time trying to elect different pedos, and yes as long as people believe they have more to lose than to gain nothing will happen fundamentally, like lobsters in a pot coming slowly to a boil, its crazy that people look at their shitty ass lives and think "yeah this is worth a few murdered and raped children", i know its more subconscious than that but its the underlying attitude

I meant in the sense of correctly holding and aiming the weapon.

Because I want to pull the trigger without activating it. Like, "bang, bang-bang-bang-bang" except they're clicks. If you turn off the safety, you get one crisp "click", and then nothing until you run the charger.

That's just completely wrong.
Centrists will vote to have the government take your guns, and cops/feds will enforce the edicts.

>>64892528
>The plate carrier probably does cover the organs it’s meant to, he’s just so fat it looks tiny.
I don't understand plates. I get that most bullets (if fired using American "Center-of-Mass" doctrine) will land on the covered region, but the head, major arteries, outer lungs, obliques, and the intestines are usually left exposed.
I could never confidently stand out the way many of these do and act like I'm protected.
>>
>>
>>64892537
I mean they’re meant to cover the most vital organs, ideally used in conjunction with like soft armor and a helmet to cover most of the areas you listed. Sure the soft armor won’t stop most bullets but shit like shrapnel from arty explosives drones etc will be covered, which are most casualties in a conflict. Oh and chest wounds are hard to treat so that’s another good reason to carry some
>>
>>64892502
People like you don't even believe in the 2a anymore, since you don't want to arm your enemies. What makes you different from leftists in that sense? You're just as unhinged, you also want to selectively restrict guns to a select few, so maybe you should kill yourself

>"I used to be a sheepdog like you. Then I took a 5.56 to the thigh."
Useful, but not the confidence booster you'd expect, given how eagerly people dress up with them.
I guess if neither side understands terminal ballistics and they're both religiously told to aim for the CoM from 200+ yards, you can minimize casualties, but it feels like that African "bulletproof charm" thing, where just getting guys to run into gunfire was the point.

You know in a position where there would actually be a need for a "militia" i think the hospitals would be closed and you might be better off just dying if you get shot.
Also I'm just justifying not owning a plate carrier or plates to myself.
>>
>>
>>64892576
Well it’s one of those things where there’s no reason not to. It won’t make you invincible and yeah what it does cover is limited, but if you’re ever in a situation where you will get shots fired back at you, why wouldn’t you run armor? Just seems stupid not to
>>64892577
I probably will sell it privately, but in general I just don’t want a horde of guns. I’m not much of a collector yk?
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>64892595
I just assume the plates are more for extending someone's life until they can make it to proper medical care, and if there isn't good medical I'd want my enemies shooting to kill.
So save some weight on the armor for things like more food, water, survival supplies etc.
But if the plates can catch a few rounds its probably worth just dealing with it.
In SHTF I'd be grabbing a concealable pistol because I think long guns would make you a target.
Maybe I'm just looking at it wrong though?

Plates have their uses, specifically if there’s a chance of someone shooting at you or any sorts of explosives. But if you’re just doing like recon or scavenging a pretty safe area or whatever larp scenario, you could do without

So as an AR-15 thought experiment, instead of theorizing about how we would totally survive the collapse of a society designed to sustain 8 billion hunter gatherers, let's create the minimal functioning AR-15 parts build that will cycle with a full magazine inserted, leaving out the following:
>muzzle device
>handguard (just use a stripped GI barrel nut)
>forward assist
>charging handle (pull bolt back with flathead screwdriver)
>ejection port cover and hardware
>takedown pins, detents, springs (use 1/4-20 machine screws and nuts)
>safety, safety detent and spring
>castle nut, receiver end plate (use rifle receiver extension)
>pistol grip and screw
>stock
>buffer retainer and spring
I count like a 16 part AR (right?), anything else you think you could leave out?

I don't think that's the direction one should take though, you're forgetting the FCG, a trunion or nut to hold the barrel in place, plus all of this requires a ton of fabrication where using off the shelf parts is much simpler and nobody cares about the form factor. I actually think you would wind up with more parts to assemble a "sten" AR.
I think later on tonight I might whip something up as a proof of concept.

>>

>>64893665
downstream turbo, build a manifold to tie it into the gas tube.
Other than that you can't magically add more gas to the system but there are some options.
Drill out gas port
Lighter buffer weight
Lighter BCG; "semi auto" profile for an easy option. Lightened profile or exotic materials are an option but of dubious reliability outside of a competition setting.

A few years before my e-pal died, we had been discussing the peculiarity of the MG3. Keeping it in service as a mounted or crew served machinegun makes sense both mechanically and economically [converting them from MG-42's is almost trivial] but the Germans bucked the trend by never adopting a SAW chambered in 5.56 NATO. The Belgians changed the game with their Minimi [sorry but the Stoner 63 was not suitable for infantry use] and LMG's have only been getting lighter to the point it's not uncommon to see combat video of a gunner without his assistant yet the MG3 persists! The cyclic rate has been reduced with heavier rollers but 950 RPM is still much too high even for a belt fed. We had arrived to the conclusion of systemic doctrine: MG3 crews don't train to advance on enemy position, they train to defend infrastructure from invaders including the ammunition depo up the road that will be supplying them the whole time

The original selling point was replacing the m60 and adding a LMG by way of using 855 to get 7.62 performance at distance. When that fell short, the 240 was pushed out. Eurotard militaries kept their mag58s for the same role. MG3 is considered both a LMG and HMG in german doctrine with the deciding factor being the presence of a tripod rather than caliber.
