Well not really, the camo still works, it’s not like you can really see the yellow armband at a distance. It’s literally just for friendlies to identify you with optics or Binos or real quick up close where camo doesn’t matter anyway

Placed order with McMaster for the wavespring and #5-40 set screws for the custom WAR adjustable gas upper receiver valve assemblies. Will be nice to be able to swap valves without removing the rail, and more importantly, will be cool to try to tune the gas aperture in the valve for custom application.
Going to sell almost all of my suppressors also. Dated tech. Hopefully don't get too shafted but we'll see. Fresh Cerakote C series. Cleaned the accessible chambers pretty thoroughly.

Most new gen cans start at ~$700-$800. That is where they start. Plenty are $900-$1300 or so, whether it be KAC, SF, PTR, CAT etc.
Cans I'm selling have current listed prices of $600-$750 or so. My LGS consistently sells used cans for $100-$200 less than new price depending on shape. That puts these cans in the $400-$550 range which is honestly really valuable for the shop because like I said, the vast majority of new cans are starting at $700-$900. Otter creek bullshit in stainless doesn't count. I appreciate you generously considering the possibility that I shoot so much I've clapped these cans out, but they're honestly all in pretty good shape. Other than the B&T PrintX Mini 556K, they all have nearly pristine blast chambers. The MG7k and the SMK both have less than 4000-5000rnds each (SMK had a new baffle stack done under warranty a couple years back), and the Omega is looking decent as well. I'm going to try to carefully remove the copper slag from the PrintX Mini 556K, but if I can just get $100-$150 less than what they're going to sell for, so $300-400 per can, I'll honestly be happy.

Ballistics question… overspin. Myth? Ie a 20” 1:12 will group better with M193 than a 20” 1:7 with M193. If I remember correctly the difference was negligible within 300yd but noticeable beyond. Does this track, is it fuddlore, am I retarded?

This will be my annual post in this general before avoiding the halfwit tripfags and losers in it for another year.
It's not a myth but for 20in with M193 it's not particularly relevant at any realistic range. Overspin from an otherwise fairly accurate rifle will only matter well after the point where the trajectory begins to deviate significantly from the tangent of the barrel. An overspun bullet has excessive gyroscopic stability, so the nose won't point downwards to follow its trajectory and it will experience more drag than it otherwise would. The accuracy implication is that the bullet will become transonic sooner and the accuracy penalty is otherwise like that for any transonic bullet. A less than fair rifle might get extra drag sooner (almost at the muzzle) if the bullets it fires have excessive yaw, since severely excessive spin in those circumstances might never allow the bullet to point where it is going at all, but a rifle that's doing that wouldn't be a good shooter even if it had a lower twist rate anyway.
There are practical limitations on 5.56, and especially light 5.56 like M193, accuracy and effectiveness at range from wind and retained energy that will probably matter more in any reasonable application more than overspin.

Depends entirely on the type of ammo and what youre trying to do with it
5.56 generally going to be faster
>>
>>
>>64900599
>>64900600
In this case, it’s Fiocchi range dynamics.
Both have identical specs: 55 grain at 3240 fps.
>>
>>
>>64900618
What and why should I stock other grain weights?
Is the idea that stocked ammo should be the highest performing in case I ever actually need it? Something that I would grab just for pure insurance/reliability’s sake even if there’s nothing really wrong with the cheap 55 grain ammo?
If it has to do with terminal performance, I’ve never been one to worry about that. Any engagement I could see myself in would be under 100 yards, maybe 200 in a really messed up boog situation.

>What
Ideally 70-77gr bonded jacketed softpoints
If I was going to have a pile of shit beyond that it would be 855
>Why (Bonded JSP)
Drastically superior terminal performance out of all barrel lengths at all distances.Improved barrier performance (autoglass, drywall, wood, light sheet metal, etc) against common materials that make up conus. Improved external ballistics at range ensuring the bullet actually gets there.
>Why (855)
If you live somewhere with a lot of very thick brush, 193 will clip a decent sized log and keyhole beyond that creating a yuge dispersion. Even at shorter distances brush fucks up 55gr pretty heavily and you likely dont have the volume of fire to chew through it. 885 performs much better at penetrating barriers and continuing on its course. Comes at the expense of terminal ballistics but : any hit > a miss. 855 also fantastic against concrete masonry units and thicker types of cover present conus.
Stock enough 55gr to get you through a year or two of practical rifle training, keep that stock rotating and deepstock some good ammo.

>>
>>64900685
Rounded inconel teeth vs sharp stainless steel teeth. Also it’s an inconel muzzle device as well and it’s all one piece construction unlike the AAC. They’ve tested it to over 3000 mounts and removals with no issues and anyways the taper surface is the primary mounting system the teeth are just the extra insurance.

>Has anyone here ever worn out parts on their ar?
Yes
Barrels, hammer springs, gas tubes, charging handles, bolts, gas rings, gas key screws, buffer springs, buffer roll pins, takedown pins, bolt catches and optics
>How many rounds in
Id say your "AR spares kit" should have a complete spare bcg, complete spare lpk and a spare tubbs flatwire spring. Beyond that you can start stocking small parts but 99% of failures will be covered there. Gas tube would be another cheap add as well. I wouldnt worry about spare barrel nuts, handguards, as most of the time a broken one of those will deadline the whole rifle.
>What constitutes a barrel being “shot out”, as in what moa does it become too shit generally and what round count (assuming one isn’t just mag dumping a lot).
Personal preference tbqh
Ive shot out a couple CHF CL barrels now until they started keyholing with 55gr. You will notice them open up, eventually some yaw on paper and then whoosh overnight almost the bullets coming out sideways

ALG defense = basic bitch mil-spec AR "patrol rifle." There's literally nothing wrong with it, but they try to oversell it as something other than what it is. Plus they come with the best AR handguard ever conceived with the exception of the URX (I promise you I am overlooking nothing and not accepting arguments at this time).
Geissele = mil-spec+ with modifications more inline with modern service rifles, mostly dictated by contracts, who provides the majority of their business.

Hmm that doesn't make sense though. The single scratch that is there isn't symmetric or geometrically aligned to the suppressor in any way. It was clearly an accident, and that makes sense because what happened was that my right hand was tired of holding the dremel (elbow grease work) and as I was removing the bit from inside the blast chamber with the dremel still running, I accidentally ran the bit across the outside surface of the suppressor scratching the brand new cerakote. It sorta looks like a weird C shape? You can see it in the picture. Anyway the point is that you couldn't just intentionally apply another scratch to "even it out". First of all it would be very hard to create the exact same "curve" of the scratch, and secondly like I said, there isn't any spot on the can where just replicating the scratch would produce some sort of "even" symmetric geometry. I guess I could try to produce a chiral mirror of the scratch and put it 180 degrees over on the other side of the can? Ah wait yeah I forget technically you can't actually create truly non-superimposeable chiral pairs of geometries in a 2D space unless you restrict transformation functions to that 2D space, which is sort of trivial. In any case even if we did go with a chiral mirror of the scratch on the other side of the can, I truly don't think that would actually somehow make the can look better or help it sell for more. The goal here is to have the can be in the best shape it can be so that it can be resold by the LGS for as close to new price as possible, sorta the difference between used vs demo model.

Incorporate it into a larger work of art, perhaps a ducks unlimited master class engraving across the entire suppressor featuring dogs engaged in the traditional pastoral waterfowl hunt of yesteryear. Elements of the hunt juxtaposed with elements of the field a tasteful crowding of work with a simple engravers mark hidden within it.

Yes. Give it a proper snug up and then stake it.
A good armorers wrench will have a square drive hole for a torque wrench for this very reason. I just give it a proper leaning into it. Less than a lug nut, more than a nalgene lid.

elcan with piggybacked dot
Elcan red dot set to daylight visible
top dot set to passive aim
PVS14 on non dominant eye
The top dot on nv/passive aim setting can be seen with non dominant eye by canting the rifle over to non dominant eye with PVS14.
Likewise, the IR laser can also be seen by non dominant eye.
Dominant eye absent of NVD allows for elcan 1x use with WML albeit with some scope shadow as head position won’t be optimal, at least for me, as I have to move the stock all the way out to avoid bumping on the elcan which if moved further forward on the gun wouldn’t be optimal for daytime use,
Overall I just like a regular red dot better and I don’t think I really need to be able to switch between visible dot and IR all that much but at this point I’m kind of just messing around with stuff / trying to justify the elcan at all. /blogpost

BB only told me about that technique how did you find out... delta ring should bother me more, as should the flat slip ring I have on an A2 upper, but I simply can't bothered to remove the barrels and FSP's to swap them.

How tight should mlok accessories be?
I simply hand tightened one with an Allen wrench and it started crushing the rail.
Now i stop right when i start feeling some real resistance which psychologically makes me feel like my stuff is kind of loose.

Very common issue with the competition rifles. 35-40 in lbs or basically hand tight plus .5-1 full turns past. Don’t forget to use blue locktite. It’s basically glue that holds competition rifles together. When you start deviating from the original design you’re bound to hit these issues
>>
>>
>>64905601
No its competition rifle itd be race if they ran fast but theres the buffer retainer which can shear the pivot pin can sieze and like we saw even the handguard can seize and bend so they dont run there so your not correct but where they are is their deviating from the original design so cause for the many issues sometimes even the safety spring can wear leading to the gun firing which is why rack safe is done in the military with these rifles
>>
>>64905457
You just need to pay attention when you tighten mlok, make sure the backing tabs are 90 degrees perpendicular, use a flashlight if you have to look into the rail to verify their positioning. The only time they really fuck up your rail is when you get one diagonal and is slipping into the slot when you crank it down.

I should get a brake for my 10.3.
Thinking about https://www.stonercnc.com/product-page/hollywood-compensator-gen-2 but will take recommendations for anything more likely to cause TBI to everyone at the indoor range

I still don't know what to do with this lower. Maybe a 10.3 build with a hypebeast hand guard like Fear Tomorrow or Squid if they ever come out

>>
>>64906711
4" is plenty for AR's, they are basically barbie polly pocket snap together so you don't really need much besides a solid flat surface (for driving pins in/out and mounting the vise), reaction rod, and vise for holding reaction rod.
If you do any other DIY stuff I'd opt for the bigger vise though

You're guaranteed to fuck so basically you're starting at 100 and every fuck up will detract from that. If she's kinda slutty once you go below 30 it's ogre. What do you guys talk about in a casual setting like a bar/gym? You said you wanted to fuck her so both intentions are very clear.

I think I have the one you're referring to it. It was ok, the mlok mount was a little bit weird where it didn't lock up without me having to torque it down A LOT. I swapped mine out because I wanted a completely different mount though.
