I was dumb enough to eat a pizza before playing. rosewood fretboard smells awful. strings smell awful. clipped the strings off, cleaned the board with lighter fluid, still smells bad. did it again, smell is still there. is there any fix for this or is it ogre?

I did some digging online most people seem happy with them. america now it has to be 100% made and sourced in america to say “made in america” without the “sourced from global” or assembled bullshit tags. apparently in canada it only need to be greater than 50% canadian. apparently godin sources their electronics in korea

Replaced my pre amp tubes with Tung Sol's and rectifier tube with a JJ since it was kind of acting up a little bit already. Just realized the Princeton is fixed bias, so wondering if it's worth replacing the power tubes too while I'm at it. Are NOS (Sylvania, RCA etc) mostly just snake oil when it comes to power tubes or is there any merit to them over Groove Tubes or JJ/TS etc?

I’ve been burglarized and they took 6 guitars and almost all of my pedals and amps. The only guitar they didn’t take was a Dearmond that had a lot of stickers on it and a boss ds1. So I recommend covering your guitar in paint and stickers if you don’t want it stolen

I ended up blasting it with just about every relatively safe cleaning compound and got all the pizza smell out of it and the board just smells like stale piss, I looked that up and apparently that happens with some indonesian imports. so made sure its dry and put a layer of mineral oil on it.
my hands are just gonna smell like piss whenever I play I guess.

No idea. maybe they lather some cheap crap on the board maybe its just wood quality. I think it's the latter cause that chemical cocktail I hit it with can clean a gun barrel so I doubt anything they could put into it would survive that unless its particularly nasty.

Wanna buy a guitar with a floating trem but I know from experience what a pain in the ass they are so what is the easiest solution to deck the tremolo or tremolno that shit? I like divebombs and whammy vibrato but I don't want to deal with PITA string changes, string breaks de-tuning my whole instrument, and out of tune bends. It's gonna be a Gotoh 510 custom.

just be aware that floyd specials and the house brand "LICENSED BY FLOYD ROSE" models that aren't made by either schaller, gotoh (older ibanez edge trems) or kahler are pot metal garbage that will struggle to stay in tune with perfect setups. gotoh GE1996T is as good as a top of the line floyd for like $120 new in box

Thickness at the nut is basically the same as vintage Fender, but thickness at the 12th fret is like 49mm which is definitely thin. My thinnest Fender at the 12th fret is around 51mm so even thinner than that. It’s not that much of an adjustment coming from thinner vintage Fender style necks but jumping between it and like my LP is a pretty noticeable difference. The thin neck doesn’t bother me at all but I was nervous about it waiting for it to come in

flatwound have a lot more tension than same gauge roundwounds. those are the heaviest flats they make. the tension on the neck is enormous and cheap instruments will have too much relief even with the truss rod maxed out. I sold a vintera last year that couldn’t handle them, my mia v2 barely can run them

I don’t mind it at all, I kind of talked about the neck here >>129541543. It’s doesn’t taper from the nut to the body nearly as much as any other guitar. I personally prefer vintage size frets so this having small frets is a plus, and the lacquered board doesn’t feel any different than any better or worse than any of my non lacquered boards. I like the neck as a whole a lot more than I thought I would. I’d prefer it to be a smidge wider at the 12th fret but it’s by no means too narrow for me and isn’t a con against the guitar, just something they do differently. I can see why people wouldn’t like it but it’s right in line in the area of the necks I like
>>129542847
There’s a Rick 350 like her’s (but not her signature model, just a regular 350) about an hour away that I was kind of tempted by, but I don’t really care for the look of a full scale neck on the little John Lennon style 325 hollow body. It’s cool to see though and if it was cheaper I think it would be cool to fool around with

It doesn't really matter where you rest your thumb so much as where you attack the string. For me, it's most comfortable resting my thumb at the end of the neck. Looks retarded, but I'm much more precise there.

Getting my first guitar floating trem system but guitars that come with an FR Originial or even a 1000 cost more than a monthly house loan. I've only heard bad things about licensed Floyds and so far not too much negative about Ibanez's Edge Zero IIs. For guys who pay attention to higher end boutique guitar and amp builders, you ever notice that these companies have this long list of guitarists they sponsor that cannot write anything worth listening to? Think of companies like Two Rock or Collings that are making $8,000 dumble clones or fucking $9,000 acoustics. These companies have this long roster of artists that act as literally nothing else but vehicles to promote brands. Guys like Ariel Posen, Joey Landreth, Adam Miller. They all know how to play guitar and are technically skilled and have some sick licks, but they have never once written a single song that anyone would actually listen to on a regular basis. Complete soulless slop. The only artist somewhat worth listening to is Julian Lage, but its purely just music for music nerd dorkery.

Absolutely. I've known this for a long time, so I guess the contemporary example is Jacob Collier. To piss more people off, the same goes for Phish and The Grateful Dead (et al). There are notable exceptions (Zappa, Bartok, Bach family, GBV), so it seems like a personality defect or rubes identifying virtuosity with listenability.
>muh Victor Wooten
>muh Steve Bailey
If you look at a guitar ad and say, woooww, if I get this, I'll be this, you're already lost. You see these weekend warriors who buy the whole setup and have a viable jam space, but yeah, Jenn's gotta be up at 8, so if we can work on our acoustic set after 10pm, then okayyyyy...
I think the idea is that being profligate and competent actually makes your output depleted (like fucking a nymphomaniac bitch 5 times a day, gave me a fucking embolism on my dick). It's a qi thing, and I think if you focus your attention on any inanimate object, you can see it come to life.

How can you play guitar without washing your hands first? Are you an animal?
Also did anyone here do an arm cut on a tele? I plan on doing it to mine. Just not sure what to do with the exposed wood. I thought some kind of a graphic could be fun.

Any good exercises that involve moving between open chord shapes? I'm trying to think of something using pic related.

No that is Maryland USA. I took it from a low angle so you wouldn't see too much inside the houses next door to me.

Pick a strumming pattern, pick a bpm and just play random chords. It doesn't have to be pretty, just get your hands used to moving around and feeling the chord shapes
You could build a random chord generator with a metronome on python in about 20 minutes

ok fuckin maestro lets hear your rendition, I'm playing off the cuff thats the first time i listened to the backing track you can literally hear me locking in with the chord changes the longer it goes. All my roos are clicking the backing track and letting rip, no retakes, nothing written.

I marked all the ones that never ever get used ever and are basically useless.
