it doesnt matter if its MIA or MIM, i got a luthier to fix it anyways, if i dont feel like refretting it myself(worst case).

NAM is the way to go for basically anyone. Tone3000 has a million different models available for it. Interface doesn't really matter much especially if it's just for practice; get anything that'll let you get the guitar signal into the computer.

I have no reason to buy another instrument until Evertune releaes its bass bridge and production models show up using it. Everything else just feels like a waste of money, bass wise, and the 8 string gives me enough sonic range because it's a work horse, not a "muh feel, muh soul" boomer stick.

It's literally made for soulless "Modern Metal" 2020s youtube shill garbage. Fuck I hate that shit.
Djent was a mistake as well but that's besides the point.
>>
>>129965117
Why?
>>129965135
They sound great and are reliable, that's all you need when you realise most of your tone is the amp, speakers and EQ, anyway.
>>129965136
I've had some guitars with Floyds and Kahlers, and desu, they're even more retarded to set up. No reason for them unless you absolutely NEED to flutter and divebomb.
>I want a giant hunk of metal and springs in my guitar that is NOT the one that's bad and evil because the bad and evil one's metal and springs kills the instrument that the good one magically doesn't
>>
>>
>>129965176
>they're even more retarded to set up.
You literally just need two hex wrenches the first time then only one for changing strings after it's set up. They're not bad at all. And the point isn't about the set up it's about playing the damn instrument.
>>
>>129965148
Djent has merit. This is one of the greatest songs ever written imo. Fight me.

The point is that floating bridges are an even bigger nuisance to get going the way you want them to, considering one Anon mentioned how stupid setting up an Evertune is, which it isn't. Floating bridges are also hunks of muh metal with muh springs that kills muh sustain, muh attack, muh feel, muh soul.

They're a little heavier than most basses at most. Everything else just comes down to spatial awareness and taking care of your instrument. Mine are over 10 years old and don't have damage beyond the kinda ding you get in the paintjob with any other instrument. If you give someone a BC Rich and they bang it up, they have failed the 'cares about instruments' litmus test.
They also have the bonus of being completely impossible to slide around when you're sitting down to record with how they wedge against your legs, provided you play in classical position.

I’m not sure, I think it’s because how basslines are constructed and its role within a song suit me better than guitar. I have never been the person to seek attention and I’ve never enjoyed taking solos on bass. I just really like grooving and enjoying the music.

Practice making the fingering, applying pressure, then releasing pressure, so the fingers are still making the chord shape but muting/gently touching the strings. Repeat. Do that for both of two chords individually. Then make note which, if any, fingers need to move to a different string to form the 2nd of the two chords. Sometimes a finger can stay where it is in the transition between two chords so you should identify which fingers those are and be mindful not to move them when making the new chord shape. If a chord shape requires all 4 fingers, practice fretting with just 2 of the fingers in various combinations/permutations. For example, just fret the notes that require fingers 1 and 3, then release those and fret the notes of the chord that require fingers 2 and 4. Alternate back and forth. Take one of the chord shapes and move it up to the 12th fret and play it, then move it down a fret and play it Continue moving it down until you can go no further. Then work it back up again.

just reached into the coin pocket of my jeans and found a green tortex (.88 mm)
I put it between my thumb and index finger and raked it across my strings (Ernie Ball 9 through 42) on an E chord
Sounds pretty good.

i dunno, that's what the singer does. we get together and hum melodies until something clicks. once you have a line of a chorus or a theme it gets easier to work backwards from that
if i'm lucky he gets inspired and does 80% of it and then we just edit away at it.
if anything, i just get a vague theme from the music

That was basically my rationale. 90% of songs aren't so complicated or demanding that they demand you to change your tuning so that you can keep up, so this thing lets me play almost everything without thinking twice. I kinda want to meme out and get something like picrel just for the fuck of it. Would block the trem, though.

I had one a few years ago. After a few months, the output started to bleed into the input, meaning you could hear the click track on a newly recorded guitar DI like you were using tape machines from way back when. They were dicks about replacing it as well. I got my hands on a Behringer UMC404HD and it sounds a lot better, and it never gave me any issues, either.

the most useful thing you can do in this respect is learn the modal associations with every interval in the diatonic scale pattern. for example, learn where all the ionian notes are the phrygian notes the lydian notes etc

They used to be. They're practically a non-existent company at this point. A homeless brand that gets used for overseas guitars - with the exception of the highest end, which are done by private luthiers. Same goes for Washburn.
>>
>>129968037
To add, a lot of guitars are from overseas, of course..but I mean they have the most minimal operation even for US based contacts and HQ. Someone just owns the names and designs and contracts them all out.

Technically yes but I’m talking about a guitar style humbucker. Similar to Billy Sheehan bass. I played one of those older attitude basses and the neck pickup was too boomy. I tune down so I wanted a different sound. I put it slightly lower than he does.
>>129968306
Make a partscaster. Seriously. You’ll save a hell of a lot of money. At the factory they’re just slapping them together anyways. I’ve seen same model, same year basses with obviously different specs.

There are some things that might make it worth it. Some of the pickup options, or some autistic wiring or radius you insist on.
Wouldn't be me, but I can see it.

>>129968757
>>129968782
I’ve been a DIY guy for too long. If you ever consider the partscaster you’ll need to have some skills in fitting everything together. You can find great used parts and pickups for next to nothing. Every time I upgrade a Fender bass I sell the stock parts I replaced for next to nothing.

Starting to learn the electric guitar really highlights how much of a clueless retard I am when it comes to music. Give yourself a break. It takes time. Practice. Have fun. There is alot of nonsense on the internet (and here.) Find a beginner YouTube channel. when you start getting the hang of it find easy songs you can play. Playing something gives your brain the proof you can do it. People joke about it but the Smoke on the Water riff will show you that you can do it. Everyone starts at zero.

Been gone for a while. Not banned or anything, just… elsewhere.
Came back and it’s weird same threads, different usernames, same arguments just slightly retuned. Nobody fixed the reverb problem either, which is interesting.
I’ve mostly just been reading. There’s a lot of confident wrongness floating around. Some of it familiar, some of it new. Saw someone bring up ukuleles. Not gonna get into that, but I felt it. Been working on something. Not exactly music, not exactly not music either. Learned a few things in the process most of them inconvenient. Some of you got better. Some of you really doubled down. Respect where it’s due.Not here to argue. Just checking the temperature. It’s colder than I remember. We’ll see. Guitar Center’s still standing. For now.

That's cool, I got an old Peavey guitar that I wish I could play more. Frets are just too gone and the tuners suck so it'd take some money to make it playable. Hopefully sometime in the future. Good luck with yours.

Sure, you might need to route the body a little but it's doable.

no, your mom is good at it.
I was hoping there was someone with musical skills here. I originally wasn't looking for replys or abuse. I was simply showing the poster of those chords he could do something different with them other than arpeggios. but when the abuse started coming I was hoping to be artfully bullied. Nope. /mu/ has little skills and the humor capabilities of pre pubescent fart jokes.
