What even is the point of the Asuka v Iyo match at backlash? I suppose there is still the getting revenge aspect for Asuka's character, but so little of this makes kayfabe sense. The fight was over Iyo becoming Rhea's little lesbian bait toy, but Rhea has been taken out of this feud, and tossed in hamfistedly into Charles, and Alexa's rivalry against the literal whos. The other half was the story about Asuka being abusive to Kairi, but that just disappeared into the aether. At this point the match is just "Japanese chicks fighting because of the honoru" and nobody gives a shit.
Unless they are going to do a surprise Kairi return. which I'm not holding my breath for.

They have tried to reframe it as Asuka "teaching Iyo a lesson" but it obviously makes no sense. This was never a teacher being surpassed by her student story, this was an insecure Asuka who can't succeed on her own controlling her "family" to help prop herself up. Then when Iyo got alured by goth pussy, she went overboard on making an example and keeping Kairi hers.

There is no real story now, just a shallow motive for a single match where where Iyo will win and move on and Asuka will either leave the company or just keep on doing her thing solo and move on as if nothing has happened. This story will have no consequences and it will be treated as if it never happened, despite Iyo v Asuka supposedly being a dream match.

It WAS a dream match and while they'll perform well, the bullshit surrounding it has killed my hype for it and many others. This will likely be the last time I watch wrestling for a long while, maybe ever.

It's a story that just ignores months of TV, if they tried to tell this story from the start I wouldn't have a problem with it. They could have never brought Kairi back from injury or fired her before Asuka returned. Then Asuka comes back, tried to bitch out Iyo and say she's going to take her title on that Smackdown in saudi, then she loses the QotR and does the same stuff getting close to Iyo and trying to become her mentor (Despite Iyo being champ and beating Rhea all the time which Asuka never has). Then when Iyo breaks off, it's actually framed right and there's no emotional beats of Asuakabuse to Kairi and Iyo feeling guilty.

I've used the example before but it's like if in season 4 of breaking bad, Walter White's family just disappears. He got a divorce off screen and they moved out of state, so now he's going to go up against Gus and make all the meth money because of his ego and greed.
Ego was a main motivation throughout, but no fucking way would any show just remove main characters that have been the emotional core and impetus for so much of the story, way into that story, then give a throwaway line and pretend that the story was never about that to begin with.

Don't suck up to WWE and pretend like this is ok. it's against Asuka's teachings

No one puts their money where their mouth is, no one puts their neck on the line. They're all so selfish.

Even though both Iyo and Asuka can do promos in Enlgish, their potential can be only unleashed in a full Japanese promo battle and since these things are taped, it means the people in WWE have time to translate everything with subtitles. I'm pretty sure they will kill it.
