Favorite fragrances atm? I picked up a bottle of Sadonaso recently after grabbing a Nasomatto sampler, and it’s quickly becoming one of my staples. I mostly got it because I wanted to try Fantomas, which kind of just smelled like an art museum in a vaguely mysterious way. Good for a formal thing, but not something I’d wear on the regular. Sadonaso on the other hand straight up smells like a dive bar bathroom until the drydown, but with an eroticism that borders on uncomfortable. It feels “wrong” to enjoy in a way that other fragrances with a similar intent, mostly some of the Etat Libre d’Orange stuff, never quite got for me. As time goes on it becomes more gourmand, which I’m usually strongly opposed to, but it’s a weird tobacco vanilla coffee thing with the violent musk from earlier toning down quite a bit into something almost reminiscent of incense. I could see it being fucking horrific on most people but it works surprisingly well for me. Definitely not something I’d put on during the day, but I’m mostly nocturnal anyways.
It’s taken the place of Zafaran Obscur, which smelled mostly of apples and duct tape. Can’t get ahold of it anymore, tho. God I miss having a bottle of that.
