I'm in a college town state flagship as a graduate stem student. Basically hot-young-women: central. I know that theoretically I should be putting myself out there by going to events, clubs etc., if I want to meet women, or friends in general. But in the moment its hard to convince myself to do that versus just riding my motorcycle around, going to my MMA gym, going home and doing those things you listed, largely because I am fairly asocial and find trivial interactions really boring.
But obviously it's bad math. By doing that you're guaranteeing nothing ever happens. For example if for every event/club you go to you are expected to make 0.02 close-friends/partners, then after 50 times (~half a year?) you are expected to have 1 new close friend/partner. Versus exactly 0 doing the aforementioned.
What you need to meet people is regular forced exposure that forces low-stakes casual interactions that can eventually promotes familiarity and eventually cliques/partners. But without that forced interaction, I am just prone to being alone.

Yeah, 40 time is a meme in pretty much every context, and definitely so for CBs. You only have to have foot-race straight-line speed for a few nine routes a game at most. Look at a guy like Kelee Ringo. Elite special teams guy but he hasn't reached his "potential" at CB, because he can't move fluidly and isn't smart/crafty enough to make up for that. What you get out of a player like that is a lot of separation or a lot of holding/PI because they panic.
