Play me in blood bowl for it, you'll likely win. Though question. I want to convert sisters of battles models to blood bowl.
Trying to figure out a good Linewoman, Blitzer, Runner, thrower and some sort of big guy. Any suggestions on which models might be best?
also any for chaos chosen? Was thinking of using night lords for the chosen
>>
File: IMG_7181.jpg (72.0 KB)
>>98100069
Best is choosing models that are less power armor and bolters. Sisters Novitiate Squad looks easy to convert.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>98100379
I don't know the better term for it since I'm still new to model games.
>>98100378
I was thinking of trying to use a few different models like maybe Repentia for linewomen, or novitiates for line and repentia for blitzers? maybe uhh seraphim for runners and a cannonness for the thrower?

>>98100069
>Trying to figure out a good Linewoman, Blitzer, Runner, thrower and some sort of big guy.
If you can findrecasts ofthe Sisters of Sigmar from Mordheim, many of the models are posed quite well for Blood Bowl. Novices 1/2 in particular

It's all the violence we want in football and then 3x more.
>>
>>98101529
The football theme is fun but the grid of the board combined with the progressive structure of league play together just make it an ideal skirmish wargame.
Oh! And the lack of terrain, it's the perfect middle ground between chess and every other wargame.
>>
>>98101461
you only need like 14ish dudes, maybe 20 at the most if you want to paint up a whole team and have sideline staff and star players and you don't need a ton of extra stuff and the games are only like 90 mins, even less on the computer
>>

I'm still relatively new to Blood Bowl, so maybe my assessment is off, but it seemed to me that Dauntless is cool sounding at first glance, being able to get yourself a 2dice block with one assist in most cases. But then I remember it's still a dice roll to trigger, and I'm back to thinking, eh I'd rather take something else that's more readily useful, instead of intentionally going for it
>>
>>98102184
it's situationally useful. there are a lot of skills that are nice to have but you wouldn't take them but they are ok if you get them for free and dauntless is fine if you get it for free on the bret blitzers or a troll slayer, but other than that I think only gutter runners and maybe underworld goblins intentionally take it so they can cage dive uphill blitz. the power four and wrestle are just so much better
plus for dauntless to be useful you need to be fighting a str 4 or 5 guy and half of the teams don't have those so you're paying for a skill that you aren't going to use vs elves or humans or dorfs
>>
>>
>>98102271
gutters like it as like a 3rd or 4th skill. it's not for fighting it's for cage diving. if a gutter has wrestle, stripball dauntless then once it gets into a cage it can knock the ball out on a 2+ 2+. Though it doesn't look super worth it, desu, maybe vs surehands. DAC says it's a 69.4% to knock the ball loose with or without dauntless and only a 94.5% with dauntless and a reroll vs a 90.6% with out dauntless and with a reroll.
it helps a lot vs sure hands. assuming the gutter is in the cage and needs a pow, pow push or both down a gutter with dauntless knocks the ball carrier down 41.6% of the time with no reroll and 70% of the time with one. vs a gutter without dauntless being 25% with no reroll and 43.7% with one
so it's like good vs teams that have surehands. though it might be less popular now with the retarded sprueball rat team that assumes you are cage diving with the storm vermin
>>
>>98102334
yeah with stripball blitzers it's kinda obvious who they want you throwing into the death cube. maybe with Break tackle to make them 2+ dodge in?
also how do you guys name your blood bowl tams? Doing magical girl amazons next and just struggling to pick a name.
>>
>>
>>
>>98102184
It's really good against Str4 players, anything but a one and it'll go off. Most of the time you want to use it after you've set up an assist anyway so even if it goes wrong it's still a straight 1 dice roll. You want a skill that's actually really good now, look at the current version of Break Tackle, and consider that on the Amazon Blockers, or a Vampire Thrower.
>>
>>98102271
Yeah, they didn't use to get that before this edition is the thing. In the old days you still wouldn't go dauntless but rather you'd get Horns as that always works. But now? Yeah, all you really need for your suicide cagebreaker is Two Heads now. Which all Gutter Runners should really be looking at after block and maybe sprint.
>>

>>98101290
Didnt thought about that. I was just thinking about Sororitas as base models.

>break tackle Amazon blocker
>75% chance to just walk into a cage and 2 dice the ball carrier
and somehow they aren't as good in NAF anymore. they are still good but they used to be the top race. Like all together Amazons are the 2nd best race in NAF but in bb2025 they are the 10th if you include slann
Dauntless also isn't great when you could just take block, dodge, guard, side step, ect over it.
Dauntless without block gives you the same results hitting a st4 with 1 assist as 1 dieing with block
>>98102587
idk if people are getting mutations on skaven since they are 40k tv. On underworld they are only 20k tv so they're better. oh and dauntless is kind of based on underworld since dauntless used to fire after horns but now it fires first so you can get a horns dauntless gobbo or gutter and they'll hit someone who doesn't have guard on a 2 die.
But the +8 spp and 20k for a double is expensive
>>
>>98104237
Amazons main issue is that they have AV8+ almost across the board and the AV9+ the blockers have isn't exactly great either. In league it's very difficult to keep any skilled up players as the Blue Shell analogy comes into play, where the more skills they pick up, the more likely to get fouled into a grave they are.
You can dodge away with your entire team to limit your exposure AND SHOULD, but ultimately somebody is going to get flattened every turn, and there's very little you can do to stop that.
>dauntless used to fire after horns but now it fires first so you can get a horns dauntless gobbo or gutter and they'll hit someone who doesn't have guard on a 2 die
I was wondering if GW had fucked that up in the new ruleset. Thanks for confirming.
>>
>>98104286
NAF is res, not league. not sure how zons are doing in black box. I'd have to find where garion gets his stats because last time I checked orcs had a win rate over 60% and humans were one of the best teams.
Dorfs also have a sub 25% win rate because one shitter has played half of all dorf games
>>
>>
>>
>>98104901
>>98105388
humans, undead and owa have pretty high use rates in NAF
>>
>>98105477
Well yeah, those teams aren't about as fun to play as doing your taxes. The difference really, is that you're more likely to encounter some Tackle, but it's not like before, where if you were playing Amazons and you pulled Dwarf's as your next game you might as well just forfeit and hand them the 2-1 victory then and there, and go and do some gardening or something worthwhile with the next two hours of your life instead.
>>
>>
>>98105499
humans can be fun with the catchers if you don't run into like lizards. Amazons used to also struggle with chorfs and Wood Elves and I don't think they were great vs lizardmen, but luckily lizardmen got nerfed hard and people generally aren't writing naf rule sets that encourage lizard play
black orcs were a great addition because black orcs fucking suck, but they have a similar play pattern to lizards so people just give black orcs all the toys so that way someone who wants to play with that kind of team can have all their toys without also being OP
>>

>So in the old rules,
you have a wrestle strip ball gutter. he dives into a normal x cage and the ball carrier doesn't have sure hands. that's a 38.6% o to put the ball on the floor with no reroll and a 50.4% with one
>new rules
you have a break tackle (or two heads) storm vermin. he dives into a normal x cage. the ball carrier doesn't have sure hands, but does have block
>22.2% with no rerolls
>44.4% with 1 reroll
>49.4% with 2 rerolls
(it's 27.7%, 50.9%, 54% of the ball carrier has neither block nor sure hands)
I think the big issue is now the Skaven can't afford guard since one of the SVs is now a ball sacker and they aren't AS explosive on the turn around counter score break away because only 2 gutters so like an SV or thrower has to be the pretend 3rd gutter on the break away.

Why can't you use a wrestle-strip gutter in 2020Bowl?
Did they do something to it? (I had to stop playing because no nearby friends anymore, I even stopped painting my models because of it)
I never liked guard on my stormvermin because they take so long to get SPP it's safer to just go tackle
I generally prefer my gutters to be able to do something on defence because they're SPP hogs and you don't need more than one with two heads and four arms, though I'm also someone who generally detests throwers and thinks they're expensive injury magnets

>>98109180
>Why can't you use a wrestle-strip gutter in 2020Bowl?
you can. the problem is GW decided for some retarded reason to limit positional on teams to be based on the sprues so skaven now only get 2 gutters and storm vermin come with ma8 and strip ball (you still need to buy the rat ogre and other big guys separate and goblin and halflings separate for orcs and humans)
>spp
the other retarded thing is that they made it pick 6 mvp again so it's super quick to skill your positional and the there's the redraft so they have all of these game features pushing you to only level the positional and have rookie lineos but then if a player gets an SI or MNG or something you can't hire a new player until the next week because you need to hire then fire. so positionals skill faster and are more important and you could end up playing a game with 1 gutter runner
>2 heads extra arm
they fucked up skill ups. I'm pretty sure a NAF res player wrote the skill up table because it makes sense for NAF/res but it's retarded for league
doubles, like skaven mutation access, requires 4 more spp and costs 20k more so 2 heads requires 10 spp and costs 40k. meanwhile +ag only costs 8 spp more and costs 30k so 14spp and 30k. So there's almost no reason to get a double outside of block on an active big guy/mummy

Not the teams mentioned.
FYI Blood Bowl didn't become a popular game internationally until AFTER gw abandoned it, it was Jervis and his community rules team that did that. There are over 120 different team rosters for Blood Bowl and you're the newest of faggots. GW is in the process of destroying the good name that the game earned OUTSIDE their management, the game you're playing now has not been playtested and will never be finishbed, by design, it's purpose is not to be fun or fair to play, it is to get you making indefinite repeat purchases.
The game that earned the good name under the work of it's creator and players however, was heavily playtested for both balance and fun and it is complete.

I have never once felt fomo around anything regarding Space Hulk much less the greater 40k universe of game products. Don’t really like using washes if I can help it but dry brushing the bone is good advice. First time painting bone so I kinda had to play around with a lot of different attempts before finding something that worked out okay and I never really went back to give it some finishing touches. I wanna get better at edge highlighting but feel like I don’t have the brushes/brush control for it
>>
>>98118396
>Don’t really like using washes
You ought to get over that, they're core to miniature painting for a reason.
It is possible to layer up from dark tones without them, but you haven't tried to do that, your cloth sections show it, both the orange and white.
Luckily with the tones you've chosen every single thing will look good with a brown wash, so you don't need to jump between brown/black or further white a color matched wash for each section.
They aren't like contrast paints either, washes were developed by the miniature painting community using inks and needing an acrylic equivalent, whereas no one was doing anything remotely like contrast painting or asking for something to do that.
If you are absolutely adamant on not using washes for whatever absurd reason then I suggest you study hard on the topic of glazing then start every paintjob with black primer and a white drybrush coat or white zenithal airbrushing. NOT slapchop, which is a contrast paint method for hacks.
>>
Ironic because washes are often the tool of hacks. They obviously have their place but just telling new painters to slap on some agrax or nuln after every paint job is going to set back their development as a painter dramatically. They need to be used with control and intention.

Good news. Novas were changed into a direct-fire weapon and carriers got a hard nerf (you can only have as many attack craft in space as you have launch bays in your fleet) in one of the earliest rules passes. YMMV news, they added much more restrictive fleet lists and a bunch of new factions. It's worth a shot playing a game or two with the 2007 or 2010 FAQs though.

Better than Warhammer Quest slops. The new book even let you make your own big dude character, while Slops Quest suffered from terminal characterphobia, as in they afraid to give you new characters. But they has been drip fed people with 3-4 new characters for Dark Water in their monthly White Dwarf, assuming you didn't fell into a coma playing Dark Water, it might worth checking out, the game components should be pretty cheap, while the full box is overpriced.

Maybe he did secretly measure it? That a direct hit gets you crippled that often is very rare. I heard some used their rulers while moving to know how far away the other ships are.
And Nova should always fire first before any other weapons. There is an aditional rule that Novas need reloading too.

No. It is one of the issue the "guess" weapon have. Some people are just really good at it, but it is a skill that most non retards can be develop. It is particularly more easy in the metric system though.

But hitting the hole of the token is very accurate. Best is that the ship gets one blastmarker.
>>
>>98120902
Is not hard to be accurate to the cm. Specially when BFG had huge bases 32mm and 60mm. After all you have a lot of know measurements before hand so making a proper estimate is easy. Like the size of board, deployment zones, center of the table, etc.
I know because just like anon there are still players today that are salty about how good some people are with Guess weapons.
>>
>>98119787
Armada brought most of the changes in. Nova Canons got changed into essentially 40k blast template weapons because it was pretty easy for people to cheese guessing the distance, and the fightercraft changes were because the original rules were blisteringly broken. Although if you want original rules back then Nids still use them that way.
We then later on get a community edition that: Tries to fix Orks (gives them more options but some stuff remains fundamentally sub-par) gives us expanded rules for Pirates, Rogue Trader fleets, a whole new Battlefleet for Imperial Navy, and Battlebarges for all the major Traitor Legions.
They also added a bit more tinkering to fighter rules, by enabling Fighters to supress a targets Turrets before the bombers attack, which is kind of cool. This probably started life as a buff just for Ork Fighter Bomma's but they decided to give to everyone.

Tips for dwarfs in Mordheim? Played my first game and got pretty much destroyed by Skaven (albeit the opponent rolling a lot of 6s didn't help) so I'm trying to improve based on that and would appreciate tips from people that played them back in the days.
>>
>>
>>
>>98122620
Mordheim is not a fair game, but it is a fun game. I think of the different factions in terms of difficulty. Playing Skaven is playing on easy mode. They are fast, cheap, and not even all that squishy, Then it goes undead, sisters of sigmar, witch hunters, possessed, and mercenaries at the bottom (dealing with just the core rulebook). I would say playing dwarfs is playing on hard mode. You are slow, expensive, but also tough. Keep a few sacrificial beardlings out in front, and keep your harder hitters back, preferably out of view, but in a position to where they can see the skaven if your beardlings get charged. Pray that your beardlings survive, and then get the counter charge, Your toughness is your biggest asset, and don't forget the Hard to Kill rule. Getting a few crossbows can help. A lucky shot before the melee breaks out can mean a whole lot. Try to keep the battle line small so you don't get overwhelmed or surrounded.

they got rid of 2 black orcs/big 'uns. They are more fun this way though and I'm going to be annoying if/when they get nerfed because they are a problem in blackbox and possibly league. like an over 60% win rate. they are very fun, it looks like most people do what I do and use the Bubs as the genetic attrition blitzers since they are MA5 and have mighty blow. The blitzers then get used as green elves. break tackle is such a good skill and now that the blitzers have it you can very easily insert guard anywhere, but you can also play defense like an elf where you can cage dive, dodge through tackle zones to hit the ball. Like my past 2 games had the other guy getting pissed off due to my "lucky dice" because orcs used to not do a 4+3+ to one die the ball but now it's like a 3+2+ (kind of you can only use break tackle once per turn) but they'll still leave the ball carrier open to like a 50/50 sack with a reroll and a 75% sack with 2 rerolls. the only thing the orcs don't have is like a fast player for offense and good recovery after you get the ball loose.
but yeah one guy straight up potatoed and the other guy let me get a 1 die hit on the ball like 3 turns in a row. The multi rerolls are also another big part of it. if I was playing league 3 rerolls plus a leader is honestly a decent choice due to the multi reroll bullshit

I’m trying to make a viable psycker maxed delaque list. The arbitrator is cool with my dudes having access to outcast wyrd powers on advances and the house rule that maintaining continuous spells is a free action. Thoughts?
>gang is tzeentch corrupted
>master of shadow, combat caster, spring up+terrible truths+fletchette pistol
>phantom, support caster (to become unbreakable will monkey), shotgun+penumbral mirror+psi-touched
>phantom, gun wizard, long rifle+infiltrate+perfect void
>spyker
>x3 psy-ghiests, stileto knife + autopistol with the powers cyclopean gaze, unrememberable utterance, suicidal embrace, existential barrage respectively
>x2 shadows with smoke grenades (for board control and extending power ranges)
>ghost specialist with lasgun
My game plan is to bunch up and play defensively. And to try to pick off stray fighters with my various tricks
>>

I picked up Hive War, do people bother magnetizing Necromunda models? If so, how hard is it?
Considering how often models can switch loadouts, it seems useful, but this also seems like the kind of game where people don't especially give a fuck about WYSIWYG
>>
>>98131123
No, it's a waste of time and the models would look like shit. Models follow archetype you planned for them since start so it's rare you even want to switch in the first place, you planned the 3 weapons that the models will have and then it's done.
There are time you will want to switch weapons, like when a ganger promoted to specialist (rare), you want to change "main weapon" (still same 3 weapons planned from the start, just aesthetic), you want some weird stuff from black market. In those cases 2 boxes of gang should give you plenty of extra bodies to made those models. That's enough for a beginner, just play the game, if you somehow still need more, then get more bodies.
>>
>>98130872
>The arbitrator is cool with my dudes having access to outcast wyrd powers
You can do that already, it's in the FAQ, you just won't get the special abilities from them, which are really powerful.
Your gang doesn't have any high powered weapons, no natch-ghul and it does look to be a meme gang with an infiltrate long rifle user that want to be within 10" of people.

I can find the fumbbl setup I'm familiar with but not your one where rogres are now legally allowed to pass and blitzers are now just better gutters
I'm going to guess I'm just entirely out of the loop, my rulebook is second season I think, which means I should probably go and save the last known errata for it now before it's lost to the aether, I wonder why they had to update the game, again
I'm going to guess Animal Savagery still sucks all the fun out of rogres
>>
>>98133472
Honestly, we were lucky they waited as long as 5 years before updating it, Horus Heresy only got 3, and it was a fucking disaster. Most of these changes are, by comprison, much easier to adjust to, and some of them are actually welcome. The removal of Wildly Inaccurate for one thing, and a lot of the skill changes and additions are generally pretty good. Dwarf players complained, but anyone who plays Dwarfs beyond 20 games, or worse yet, claims they enjoy it, probably should be sectioned anyway.
Did they deserve to get hit quite as hard as they did, and did Chorf players deserve to get hit as collateral damage? Probably not quite to this extent, but more than they'd admit.
The special snowflake team skills everyone was getting in the last set of rules are now largely just freely available now, and I like that. Hit and Run is now just an agility skill. The Beast of Nurgle now has Pick Me Up. Sure. Taunts a cool skill, Shadowing is back to how it basically was originally. Overall, this ruleset was far less of a wrench than 2020's badly thought out disaster was and I'm more or less okay with it.
At this point I'm convinced changing how MVP works every edition has become a tradition however.
>>
>>98133824
>Dwarf players complained
Trying to look it up now, they lost innate tackle and strength was moved to secondary access or something?
I remember using strong arm on dwarf runners in ye olden days (they had strength access too, right?) for passing back before 2020 made it so you couldn't stack 2 separate +1 agi to passing skills, oh and split up the passing skills in a way that made me stop caring about passing
>and did Chorf players deserve to get hit as collateral damage?
I think the only thing chorfs ever needed was "No hands" on their bull centaurs
>>
>>
>>98133848
The big thing for me was that they nerfed Blitzer's to Agi 4+. That part was the only thing seemed unnecessary to me. I kind of like their lineman all having Devious access over strength access. It leads to really fucked up things like being able to give them all Taunt (and every Orc player I've talked to so far has agreed that the Big Un's gaining that has been REALLY good.) or Shadowing.
Could you imagine a Linedwarf with Taunt and Shadowing? God, that would be wretched.
>"No hands" on their bull centaurs
They did get the skill that meant they can't use Secure The Ball at least. Plus, why would they? They have hands. They're just low agility so actually picking the damn thing up is a coin toss.
>>
>>98133472
>I wonder why they had to update the game, again
This is GW, this is their business model.
Update a game a little at a time every few months for a few years (never ever playtest anything, changes are 100% arbitrary) sometimes as short as 2 years. These "updates" will often consist of changes to faction units that will require or strongly encourage you to buy whole new sets of models.
Then before you've "finished" this edition (factions and units still not updated) dump it 2 months after an update and release a new edition, rinse and repeat ad infinitum.
If you don't like it, don't buy into it.
The man who invented Blood Bowl, Jervis Johnson, spent almost 2 decades working with the community to refine and perfect the game to give the Living Rule Book 6 (or LRB6) this is the game as played in the Blood Bowl 2 videogame (well, almost exactly, some missing teams there and a couple incredibly minor rule interaction differences).
>>
>>98133981
>Taunt and shadowing linedwarf
That'd suck to stick to a beard like glue.
>Plus, why would they? They have hands.
Sure Hands.
The dwarf deathroller has a driver with hands.
Wights used to have hands before they became Wraiths... who have hands.
It's a fan favourite to make the Str4 M9 player the ball carrier and is exceptionally reliable.

so they could sell more rules packs. they do this with all of their games. I think one of the blood bowl streamers was bitching and says he wants them to go to the model they use for 40k or one of their other games where instead if buying a book you pay for a pdf subscription so they can update it easier
>>
>>
>>98135011
Deathroller player has to use his hands to drive. They take safe responsible driving very seriously down in Karak Eight Peaks. As for the Wraith... yeah that was down to bullshit game balance reasons and we all know it.
Frankly I feel like calling them wraiths was a misstep and they should have completely redesigned Necro around Monster Bash style Hammer Horror monster team-up films. Make him an invisible man instead. Add a Vampire, a Mummy and redesign the ghouls as looking a bit green around the gills as it were. Sort of like an Undead version of Underworld or Pact/Renegades.
But that's just me.

Dwarfs are still ok at 1,000 tv and are probably still ok in general, it's just that dwarfs are ass to play so anyone who liked dwarfs went and played Orcs or OWA who are both top tier
also the 2020 season 2 edition was retarded because one of the guys on the panel who wrote it was a dwarf NAF coach so he made sure all of the changes only affected league players, not NAF players and made sure dwarfs didn't get nerfed even though all of the dorfs on the OWA team were nerfed which made dwarfs over powered in 2020
>>98133848
strong arm used to be a passing skill because it was just a worse version of accurate. Accurate added +1 to every pass, strong arm added +1 to every pass other than quick passes. I had an accurate strong arm human thrower
> oh and split up the passing skills in a way that made me stop caring about passing
passing was always not very good. the only teams that really use it are high elves, pro elves, skaven and maybe wood elves and dark elves used to do it. And most of those teams only quick pass when they run out of movement for a hand off or want to move the ball super far so you need to do a pass and a half off so you can move the ball from endzone to endzone in one turn
>>98133981
taunt's ok. I like having it but the mighty blow and MA 5 are both a bigger deal. Like taunt is good, but it's worse than side step, stand firm and fend.
>>
>>98133883
A. you can paint them
B. Necromantic Horror has a different play style than the other 2. Necro doesn't have any str 5 but it has stand firm st4 golems and side step wraiths and MA8 claw frenzy werewolves so it's kind of fast and can get attrition via claw but the main selling point is that they can control the field really well with all of that side step and stand firm and ability to threaten a surf and they are one of the better teams at playing defense. Nurgle is pretty good on defense due to all of the stand firm too and imps are decent on defense due to the stand firm and fend, it's a shame they took that away from the brets and gave it and an ogre to the imps
>>
>>98135212
>I like having it but the mighty blow and MA 5 are both a bigger deal. Like taunt is good, but it's worse than side step, stand firm and fend.
Eh, Fend's probably about as situational as Taunt is, the rest are better I grant you but those are agility and strength skills, in this situation regarding the Linedwarf changes, Taunt is what you have access to.
Personally, I'm also a fan of Chaos Warriors getting Armbar for free. Sure you probably won't build into it, but on a positional that's never really more than two MVP's away from getting Prehensile Tail there's definitely possibilities there.

the death roller is using his hands to drive and the wraiths are like ghost dudes. Bull centaurs don't have block or mb or anything so you need to either roll a +ag or you need to take sure hands and both of those slow their development and aren't viable for NAF. they're more of a perpetual league matchmaking thing

Oh and I think multi rerolls was a mistake
Having access to only one per turn made me actually not waste them and actually enjoy playing with 2 on a fresh team, especially if they're a 70k reroll team
I'd probably be angry if I had to drop 5 of them on a turn and still fuck up the touchdown GFI
>>
>>98135388
It's not that bad since you still can't reroll a reroll, and there isn't a single person here who hasn't had a 1 reroll into a one when trying to GFI into the Endzone.
There was also the feels bad situation where you end up on turn 6 and still have three left, it effectively meant you physically couldn't use those extra RR's.
>>
>>98135361
>Grind up to level 4 to then have the ability to farm SPP to get to level 5... to get skills... you could have gotten instead of punching skills... and the league could have ended by the time you got your first level up if you're unlucky
>Maybe my problem is I always saw it as a ball game, not a cripple your opponent's team and make him no longer play with or talk to you game
Exactly why it was never an IRL issue and only a BB2 issue, players would grind hundreds of matches in a month and then get matched with total strangers who didn't have that many games in, so only in vidya land was there the opportunity to reliably build a team to this state and only there was the issue of losing friends over munchkin power gaming not applicable.
So in the real world LRB6 had no such problem.

I had a mighty blow pilin' on tackle orc blitzer in like 5 games once, maybe less, I'm too lazy to figure out by what game I had the stack because if you wanted to be like that you just needed to carry on the killer for a game or 2. With chaos or nurgle you carried on a goat, took mb then claw then PO and each step of the stack made them better at removing other teams and the games were just who can remove who
>I also like keeping my TV low and my team lean because inducements are more fun than benchwarmers
you have to carry more players if your guys die. humans, rats, amazons and other av8+ teams carry 13-14 guys just so you have 11 for the second half
>>
>>98135388
>>98135396
the multi-reroll is so you can do bullshit where you dive into someone's cage and then fuck the ball off to the other side of the field in one turn. it leads to people saving their rerolls until you have a good ball sack spot (or for the one turn).
When I play as 2025 orcs I usually safe my defensive rerolls until I can either get a hit on the ball carrier with a blitzer or for the OTTD attempt and it's fun because it lets you elf blitz and sack as orcs. I use them more traditionally like you would with the single reroll per turn rules on offense
>>
>>98135193
Bad game + niche theme = poor sales. Game canned after 2 years. It was a gateway scheme for Epic ( same scale game, but also with ground force), but Jervis Jonhson (the Epic guy at GW) forgot he need to make Aeronautica Imperialis a good game first. Epic did got a revival, but probably due to AI being a flop, it's only a partial one (only Imperium force, no xenos)
They threw the game at some retarded intern from the studio and told him to remake the game, but he couldn't give a fuck about 40k aviation bullshit, so he just modernize AI by removing the "annoying" mechanics from the original game : that the planes are unwieldy to pilot and it's hard to get people into sight. some weapons are strictly ground only. Now in new edition every plane can change direction easily, it's impossible to outmaneuver people because the attitude levels was reduced from 9 to 5, and some weapons are no longer ground only. Leading to the ground attack Marauder Destroyer being one of the deadliest dogfighter in the game. The maneuvers are also complete nonsense btw, gain speed from climbing, lose speed from diving, books are filled with errors, and mistake that could easily avoided with a 3 second google search (or just copy and paste the same shit from previous edition), in the final book they even copy and paste the wrong picture on aircraft card. shit is fucked.

>>
>>98135731
>No you didn't.
yes I did. the orc throwers used to suck back in CRP so I would carry on an orc blitzer and he scored 4 TDs in the first 3 games. you only needed 14spp to get 2 skills so 2 tds game 1 and he got mb and then 2tds and a cas in games 2 and 3 combined and wow I had a block, pomb player by game 4 and at that point it snow balls, plus it's not like it matters since I already had the 2 most important skills. You can do it with a goat too.
People do this with the season 3 orcs now, by the way. go look up any of the orc teams at the top of the black box trophy or irondwarf leaderboards. pretty much every orc coach blitzes with the BUBs every turn, even before they get block, because they have might blow. on most teams both BUBs are averaging like 8-10 blocks each where as the blitzers are only averaging like 6 or 7 blocks each because people are only using the blitzers to blitz when they need to dodge or there's a positional need. when there isn't a specific positional or ball sacking need it's literally just MB blitzing. high elves do the same shit, they blitz with the claw guys when they don't have anything better to do and necro blitz with the wolves
nurgle, chaos and orcs didn't have anyone better to carry with in CRP so they would just carry on the goats/orc blitzers and skill them up and make killers
>>
>>
>>98135871
>an orc blitzer
Yeah, this isn't the problem, a single player with only 2 of the three skills is not even remotely close to the issue.
The problem was strictly in the videogame where you would face 11 players on the pitch who all had claw, mighty blow and piling on each.
This does not happen in physical leagues.
>>
>>98135947
I don't understand why you think people wouldn't carry on a goat game one, get MB and then try to use the goat to blitz every turn to get cas and then hand off to him to score. that's basically what jimmy fantastic did and told people to do on stream

you just need to download the old blood bowl magazines to get the team rosters that go with your rulebook, or download blood bowl 4th edition which is basically the same thing just with all the various supplements collected.
Additionally the LRB which is being discussed right now is also using the same core rules but with some adjustments to rosters and a few years of fine tuning and has always been available free.

the 2016 edition which was a copy+paste of the LRB6 with (as stated by a developer in an interview) the only differences being editing errors on the teams part.
Notable here Jervis was not in charge of 2016, else those errors would not have happened, that they did speaks volumes for his involvement being token at best, his name was apparently there mostly for legitimization purposes.
But it is still a copy+paste edition, all of the new content made for 2016 is seemlessly compatible with pure LRB6 and it need not be meaningfully separated from it, my playgroup at the time integrated the new content while sticking to the rules as we already knew them.
This is likely the reason for GW going ahead with the passing stat and unique skills for star players in 2020 as these moves forced a change on the table for bootlickers that was incompatible with holdouts.
>>
>>
>>98137053
>>98137070
actually, if I remember correctly, piling on wasn't even in the 2016 core rules, it was in the "optional rules" section and cost a reroll
>>
>>98137070
Which was stated to be an editing error, it was temporarily made that way for in-house testing purposes and was meant to be changed back for print but it was missed and went to print that way instead.
>>
>>98137070
>>98137074
Even if anon is wrong about the editing error claim in that regard it's still not very meaningfully different from LRB6 as an entire rules edition, you have to hunt through the entire rulebook and find one extra sentence of text to notice that, playgroups established before 2016 might not have even noticed as they would have looked at the rules, seen everything up until then was identical and just kept playing what they knew.
>>
>>98137101
IIRC threedieblock podcast even said something very much like this happened during their switchover to 2016, that they had been playing for weeks or months before anyone in their group had an "aha!" moment and pointed out the change, it might even have been one of the hosts had this pointed out in a match and the other didn't know about it until they were recording that episode.
>>
>>98137079
they never made it not cost a reroll, they changed it to be a second foul and then got rid of it. it went from
>needed kill stack skill in crp
to
>you don't need to let players have this skill, but if you do it costs a reroll in 2016
to
>it's a foul action in 2020
to idk if it's even in the 2025 rules
>>98137101
they changed the mvps to be pick 6 instead of totally random
I think there was other stuff because, even without accounting for the roster changes 2016 was super bloaty and high tv if you didn't use seasons because they nerfed kill stacks and you could pick 6 mvp players so teams like lizards could focus all of their mvps on their good players
>>
>>
>>98137112
>they never made it not cost a reroll, they changed it to be a second foul and then got rid of it. it went from
read the interviews. the reroll costing was an editing mistake that wasn't meant to be printed.
And the CRP was not GW, so this idea that "they needed" is your own delusional headcanon.
>>98137119
I have no idea, I stopped listening to their podcast when they switched to 2020 content, I've got their entire LRB-2016 archive saved and that's all I'll ever need, makes good background noise for playing the game or painting teams.
>>
>>98137162
That's like how the current "as many as you want in a turn" reroll system is also the unintended result of an editing mistake.
GW really doesn't give a shit how the rules work if editing errors end up just being "yeah okay, that's how the game is now"
>>
>>98137162
>read the interviews. the reroll costing was an editing mistake that wasn't meant to be printed.
>And the CRP was not GW, so this idea that "they needed" is your own delusional headcanon.
they literally changed it, retardo and they never changed it back. they said the printing error was including it in the book at all instead of not even having it in the optional rules. Why wouldn't they just change it back if it was an accident?
>>
>>
>>
>>98137279
Again you're talking from the position that GW has any sort of competency or consistency for anything except digging in wallets.
Rules decisions are not made by playtesting, they get made by feedback of too many complaints or by someone on the team stepping up and saying "you know what'd be cool?" and having enough voices agree with them. The loner decision only means that someone cared enough to make a stink about it, in the case of piling on reroll the decision was a shrug of the shoulders, same with multiple rerolls per turn, the amount of "let's see where this goes" outweighed any amount of "that's not how it should be".
No playtesting and no fuck's given for meta stability.
>>
>>98137308
they absolutely had people who played the game writing the rules because the guys on fumbbl knew the name of the specific guy who played dorfs in NAF who was working with GW and was responsible for OWA getting nerfed but dorfs not getting nerfed and then like every other team getting nerfed and the cost adjustments specifically not affecting NAF formatting (which was then mooted because NAF changed their formatting after the 2020 edition came out)

>so I would carry on an orc blitzer
>People do this with the season 3 orcs now
Can confirm that's just how the orc coaches played in old blood bowl.
2016: 5MA thrower in a team with no catchers, or 6MA blitzer with block and strength access. Not a hard choice.
2020: thrower with animosity, or blitzer who no longer needs doubles for dodge?
2025: 6MA thrower and no animosity, or blitzer who can pick up on a 2+ and dodges on a 2+?
Like how you're "supposed" to use ghoul runners (now with regen... and +10K TV) but werewolves are still better.
Blitzers are natural ball carriers because their statline and starting skills are better. You don't even need to give them sure hands because you have team rerolls and you're removing the entire throw/catch risk + skill investment from the game.
Runners become wrestle runners for the same reason - 1) they're already good at ball play, 2) they have nothing to do on defensive drives, 3) no-one else got SPP.
Your points triggered me so much I want to just rant, for hours if possible about the general meta, the sportsman's play the theme of the team versus objectivity, and the SPP system.
If I worked at GW I'd probably be one bad test game away from replacing Block with Brawler and Wrestle on every blitzer and using tippex to blot out Block in every sold book as if it never existed. And then one ogre game away from holding the rulebook out the window and saying "Either dodge gets split into two mutually exclusive skills or snotlings get squatted from ALL of warhammer!"
I like seeing some of the objectively shit nonsense skills (aka "It's not blodge mb!") being shared around by default on various teams with no TV increases.

they really fucked up by not giving the wolves catch and my ball
>2025
everyone picks up and carries on the orcs throwers now because you need the blitzers to fight since you only have 2 BUBs and 2 blitzers and orcs have that team trait where you get 3spp for a cas and only 2 for a TD so it's not as worth it to get the TDs on the blitzers as it was when they were 3spp each in the older edition. plus orcs are slow and Mr. Throw is now 6 movement. If you check fumbbl, a lot of the top black box orc teams have a block stat/leader thrower and a wrestle tackle thrower that they use as a pseudo extra blitzer so they don't need to invest in a second tackle on a good player.
you are right about throwers in general. Human teams carry on the catcher and a lot of them don't have throwers and if they do they treat him as a lino that's also a leader caddy and help for the 1ttd like how skaven treat their thrower. OWA teams tend to carry on the catcher and use the thrower as a leader caddy too due to the 70k rerolls being really expensive
>I like seeing some of the objectively shit nonsense skills (aka "It's not blodge mb!") being shared around by default on various teams with no TV increases.
that's the only way a lot of those skills get picked too. Like people love the stand firm flesh golems because no one takes stand firm as their first skill on a blockless player. though I guess that's not a shit skill. maybe like foul appearance? fumbleruski and punt are shit skills but the elf linos are paying 5k for fumbleruski which is funny

Hey guys, any recommendations for storing/carrying your BFG ships? I'm thinking of trying to magnetize them to the bases as the plastic pins are notorious for snapping inside them. The metal ships are also way to heavy for those tiny plastic bits. Ive recently looked out my old ships to refurbish and wondering how you guys do it? Stole this picture from ebay but looks like a professional job. Which im not averse to.

Regarding the "Gw doesn't playest" assertion it has been reported by former employees repeatedly as being kind of true.
What's going on is that the games are being playtested before rules are published, but the rules documents are locked from alteration or published before any of the feedback from playtesting gets to impact those rules documents, so on paper GW can still technically claim that rules are playtested, they are paying people to play games with those rules during the development process, so under a legal understanding it is true that they do playtest rules.
But as a laymans understanding goes they may as well be pissing in the wind, because it doesn't affect the products you purchase, it's a waste of time.

Got my 2 Red Harvest boxes for 155USD each, I can only guess value wise the 2018 starter i'd pay 200 - 230 for it. Red Harvest and Heart of Ghur 170-200, Catacomb/Bloodhunt/Sundered Fate/Nightmare quest 150-190.
The min price are below MSRP, so does the 2 Red Harvest I bought because honestly, it's only worth buying at a discount. I'd print or scratch build some tree and dingy fences if it was 200$+

I'm sure they do some playtest games, but it's mostly beside the point. you have to want to make a good game to make a good game.
making a big, complex game good and balanced is a lot of work. it requires care during design, continuous testing, and slow methodical iteration. it's an achievable goal, but it's not one that aligns with what GW wants out of its game rules.
if you want to see this done right, look at the community managed /gwsg/ - BFG, old Munda, LRB bloodbowl, NetEA epic, warmaster revolution, etc. those games have *incredible* balance compared to official GW publications. but that's because they work slow. lots of data, tiny changes, hyper conservative timeframes. that's the only way you avoid game balance becoming a swinging pendulum.
that just straight up doesn't work for GW. for them, the POINT of rules existing is the same as the point of a model spread in white dwarf - to sell shit, particularly the newest shit. GW does not really care if the game is balanced. they have no reason to. they don't really care if you even have a good time playing the game, or if the game even gets played at all. as long as the existence of the rules is boosting sales, mission accomplished.
>>
>>
>>98145045
it's the same with all of them, it;s not just a bloodbowl thing.
there's a good reason that among gwsg vets being "actively supported" by games workshop is considered the worst thing that can happen to your game
>>
>>98145097
Preaching to the choir but I slightly disagree, the worst thing isn't GW attempting to "actively support" it's having a horde of consumers buying into that. AT flopped compared to nu-BB, ended up just being a refreshed model line for the community Epic rules, nu-BB has hordes of newfags and many older players alike ditching the community rules for the GW trash.
>>
>>98145119
AT didnt really compete with Epic anymore than aeronautica or legions imperialis. argubly less. AT is too narrow, and all of them are just partial games. so it never really qualified as Epic being "actively supported". there was no real risk of GW parasatizing players in large numbers or replacing the accepted main rules.
Legions maybe came the closest but since its missing huge slices of the main game (most titan support, ALL xenos, every 40k list that isn't mirrored in 30k) it was limited in who it would interest.
before the reboot there hadn't been a pure Adeptus Titanicus since 1989, and basically no fan continuity anywhere.
>>
>>98145426
the 2016 blood bowl release had a similar issue in only having a small number of the teams in it, and they've lacked a full set of teams for 10 years, yet still some old players have chosen the consumer cycle over the established community rules, I just don't get it.
>>
>>98144888
>>98141957
>LRB bloodbowl, .... those games have *incredible* balance compared to official GW publications.
wood elves can jump into any cage on a 3+ no matter what
lizards just rape the shit out of any race that can't cage dive and had the best win rate below 1800 tv in black box on fumbbl and had to get nerfed multiple times in the rules since then
>>
>>98146129
Yet that doesn't contradict anons statement.
>1800 tv in black box on fumbbl
Reaching for specificity here to make this work. Digital gaming is inherently incredibly fast paced next to physical, you will not get 100 physical matches in a year, you can do that inside a month online, maybe a week if you're incredibly dedicated.
Physical may be the same rules, but it's a different game, every year you spend with a certain team increases the likelihood of shelving it to try something else.
>>
>>98146233
it does not take 100 games to get to 1800 tv. I don't remember the exact range, but lizards were far and away the best team from like 1100 or 1200 tv until 1800 and then above that they got clawpomb'd. it was really easy for them to be in a tv band where they were the best team in a league as long as they avoided wood elves. they literally had to get nerfed multiple times because they were too strong. they fixed wood elves by just nerfing leap once.
wood elves and lizards got released at the end of GW support for 3rd edition so they were overpowered as fuck because GW wanted to sell minis (undead and amazons got released around the same time) and then cyanide specifically sold wood elves and lizardmen as day one DLC/preorder bonus for blood bowl 2 because they were far and away the 2 best races available for bb2 when the game came out.
you must have never fucking played if you never had to deal with lizards and their 7 ST4 player 6+ ma on everyone bullshit or wood elves cage diving on a 3+
>>
>>98145045
>>98145097
>>98145119
>wood elves cage diving on a 3+ good
>overpowered lizards who can out strength everyone else good
>>
>>98145486
because the CRP and LRB4 before it were both filled with unfun overpowered shit that needed to be balanced. you can say GW did a shit job at balancing, but CRP had huge issues with things like wood elves. no one is asking for leap to be an auto 3+ again
>>
>>98146310
That was not the claim, the claim was these rules are more balanced than any product GW releases.
Those two examples also do not break the game, note that it was always chaos chosen in online games using a full team of the clawpomb skill trio that got the complaint of being ruinously game breaking.
welfs and lizards are known to be OP, but that hasn't stopped leagues from being won by any other team.
Hell the last city I lived in had a guy dominating the local league 6 years running with LRB vampires!
>>
>>98146323
and you have now traded that one minor issue with a revolving door of meta instability and a laundry list of one-off skill entries, no single complaint will be as frequent, sure, but only because no single complaint will exist in a stability long enough to individually gain that reputation, the game is still far worse overall and has lost any semblance of balance.
>>
>>98143938
Alright cool I found the starter set sealed for $200 and was gonna pull the trigger. Figure I COULD just print out or order some cheap terrain and Frankenstein everything but there’s a lot of content in that first box
>>
>>98146330
>>98146344
wood elves were consistently a top NAF tournament team and lizards were busted and even more of a problem than kill chaos
you must not have played with anyone who played wood elves or lizardmen because lizardmen need to be nerfed into the ground and made unviable forever they were so OP. Undead and Amazons were also really good at the time
>>
>>98146401
>a top
>not THE top
And again this still does not contradict anons assertion that the LRB6 was more balanced than any GW release.
Blood Bowl does not pretend to perfect balance either, there are teams designed to be bad but comical, and others meant to be competitive and yet the LRB6 was the result of iteratively balancing the game as much as possible within it's intended scope of balance, and it achieved that.
That there are 3-5 rosters which were all at the top end of competitive is fine, you still get variety and the fact that it is a dice game ensures that even the two outlier elite rosters will still fall to anything else.
>>
>>98146442
you must have never played. IDK a single person who is mourning the loss of wood elf 3+ leap strip ball bullshit where they could strip you and steal the ball at will. in the current edition even a shitty X cage is a 4+ and you can turn that into a 6+ with an H cage and it made them way less bullshit. and again unless lizards were specifically playing against wood elves, rats or a clawpomb murder team they were able to just out strength and bully everyone and they were pretty reliable because they could afford 3 rerolls. now they need to start with like 1 reroll and aren't as big of a problem as they were. Lizards are such a poorly designed roster that the NAF guys are constantly seething because if they accidently make lizards playable in their rules packs half of the players will just take lizards and they are an anti fun team to play against
>>
>>98146508
All of your shit sums up to
>I play against That Guy a lot because I choose to play competitive tournament games
The solution is to not play competitive and not play That Guy, changing the rules won't solve your problem it will just change the specificity of it because competitive That Guy will always find a way to munchkin.
>>
>>98146585
>the old rules were the most balanced
>what do you want balance for, just don't play against someone competitive
the nuBB has a lot more options for zany things with the prayers to nuffle and trapdoors. Plus the multi rerolls allows people to do more dicey things
>>
>>98146687
>optional rules
The LRB/2016 rule set has far more zany optional rules between the BB magazines, spikes and death zone plus a number of other tidbits here and there. I have played a 6 hour match because it was stuffed with so many optional rules.
And yes, if you complain about That Guy, don't play with That Guy. If you like competitive, don't bitch that it's competitive.
>>
>>98146814
it wasn't competitive, that was the issue. you are trying to say CRP/LRB6 was balanced and it had absolute cancer in wood elves and lizards
>it's balanced as long as no one is allowed to play 2 of the rosters
>>
>>
>>98147508
wood elves still have the highest win rate in NAF tournaments and they specifically countered lizards. lizards were the best team if they weren't playing against a team that could cage dive like wood elves or rats or someone who had a clawpomb kill stack players.
also lizards were the most shitty unfun team to play against ever. you might as well just punch the lizard coach in the face because the game wasn't going to be enjoyable for you in anyway. even lizardman coaches hated playing lizardmen coaches because playing vs lizards was that cancer
>>
>>98147795
>the highest win rate
IIRC that was something like 60-70%, which while high is not unbeatable. It's also likely skewed by very skilled players picking that team for it's advantages that are otherwise not too absurd over other teams, so good players playing good teams when it comes to a competitive environment makes those teams seem far better than they are.
>>
>>98147802
>IIRC that was something like 60-70%
60-70% is terrible balance, GW was trying (and failing) to have the top teams win at a 55% win rate. like NAF considers it a failure if a roster is doing more than a 55% win rate with their current rules packs
> It's also likely skewed by very skilled players picking that team for it's advantages that are otherwise not too absurd over other teams, so good players playing good teams when it comes to a competitive environment makes those teams seem far better than they are.
tons of shitters played as lizardmen and lizards still had a good winrate due to how OP they were. like jimmy fantastic claims that the reason wood elves statistically rape lizards as much as they do is due to shitty lizard coaches making up the majority of games played and lizards were still historically one of the best teams and had to get nerfed. the CRP was not perfect. the current NAF rulespacks are more balanced than the CRP was and the CRP rulespacks still have the general fuckery guys like andy davo helping to write them where he intentionally fucks over teams he doesn't like so he won't have to play vs them. If you look at NAF stats for bb2025 the current best team, OWA, has a 56.5% win rate
>>
>>98147860
>where he intentionally fucks over teams he doesn't like so he won't have to play vs them
And Jervis with the BBRC wrote the rules to make the game fun, as stated before perfect balance was not their goal, yet the balance it does have despite this, is better than anything GW releases.
That last bit is the claim you started this argument about, and still in this entire argument no one has ever said the game is PERFECTLY balanced only that it is BETTER balanced than GW.
If you want perfect and fair this isn't the game for you.
>>
>>98147871
playing vs 3+ leap wood elves is not fun
playing vs lizardmen is not fun
the CRP had a bunch of not fun shit
I don't think anyone has ever played a game vs LRB6 lizardmen where they didn't have a cage diver or a clawpomb killstack and had fun
>>
>>98147892
Maybe for you but while they can be challenging in the right hands I and anyone else who ever played the LRB era have won against them using other rosters, even shitty rosters like vampires, I'd even go as far as saying that snatching a victory out of those lopsided conditions is one of the most fun things you can experience in Blood Bowl.
>>
>>98147935
it's not even in the right hands. those were consistently 2 of the best teams in the game for years. no one has fun playing against lizards. they are a cancer team with cancer coaches and they've finally been correctly raped to the point where people don't play them anymore. if anything they should be raped more. black orcas aren't an issue in the same way because they are slow and munchkins won't play as black orcs so there's counter play. there's counter play vs wood elves since you can prevent cage dives now, whereas before you had to play perfect because they could cage dive at will and if you got a bad scatter you just lost. people don't play cancer ass chorfs anymore because they were nerfed. Orcs are now super fun because you have break tackle blitzers. I think the only teams that got raped that didn't need to get raped were undead and skaven since teams like dorfs, lizards and chorfs weren't fun to play against. But skaven are still ok and the other teams that got changed like humans, wood elves, and dark elves are still fine. they fixed high elves and now they actually have a reason to exist too.
>>
>>98148041
>no one has fun playing against lizards
Speak for yourself.
As for as your analysis of the current meta, it's almost worthless, that meta has not been around for as long and it won't be around for as long, the very next time a new roster is released, which is measured in months not years, the meta will be totally altered.
That right there is one of the biggest draws to the LRB play environment, every team was released simultaneously with the complete rules.
You can call this third season but you're being dishonest if you don't call it something like season 3.x with the x being a tracker for every change released to it during it's lifespan, same for season 2 and to an extent 2016, though that was greatly mitigated by being a (poor) copy+paste of the LRB, you could ignore most of it and keep playing as you had before and just integrate the new optional supplements like infamous staff in death zone or special wizards in the spikes, and so on.
>>
>>
>>
>>98148059
>this rulebook is way less fun than LRB
>it's just a copy paste of the LRB
>the 3rd iteration of a copy paste of the LRB
>and they keep releasing new teams
wow, sounds like a living rulebook that changes and responds to the meta
>you are being dishonest if you use the name games workship and the bear at the mall gave to their rules that they made
>>98148243
they're always a fucking problem and I think they could still afford all the big lizards and 3 rerolls back in LRB6 if I remember right.
>kill the skinks
doesn't work because the guy isn't going to expose his skinks, unless he's a retard and even with dead skinks, assuming he isn't out removing you, he still had the most ass in the game outside of maybe khemri and pact. you were better off trying to isolate and foul one of the st4 lizards because their weakness is that they can't replace their good players. games vs lizardmen were way easier when they had a mng big lizard than if the game started with a throw a rock hitting a skink
>>
>>98148250
in the new rules? In the new rules you can start a human team with an ogre, both blitzers, both catchers, 6 line men, a fling, 3 rerolls and an apo and I think you still have gold left over for detected fans. the only thing you miss out on is the thrower. if you want that you need to drop a reroll, apo, the fling or downgrade a lino to a fling, but the catchers are so good now the thrower's now like the skaven thrower were he's decent to have, better than a lino and is good for one turners, but isn't needed

I like the new orcs, I like the new humans, I like that wood elves can't leap in on a 3+. I like that lizards got raped. I like that there are no clawpomb murder teams. ogres at least bonehead and ogre coaches do dumb shit like dodging. this guy also played super weird, like he didn't try to get in front of me like he was trying to hide his team which is weirder when I had orcs so it's like he was giving me multiple 2 die MB hits on the good lizards every turn instead of doing something productive. he jumped into another game after he forfeit where he's pro elves getting raped and gaped by lizards so that's kind of kek, he also retired that lizardman team that I beat even though I only gave him 1 perm/MNG on a niggler who already had 1 niggle anyway.
I had a game yesterday vs vamps but I don't know shit about vamps so idk if I played well or like shit. like with elves I can tell if I fucked up. no clue if I fucked up vs vamps. It was a 1-1 draw. I didn't know blood lust causes a turnover. I didn't really target the thralls beyond the normal orc shit where you stick a troll or a bunch of meat on them and then hit them if they don't dodge off next turn. I did remove 2 of his vamps which I think saved the tie for me because he got the ball loose on like turn 7 but couldn't do shit with the ball on the ground because 2 vamps were out. I did remove a vamp in the first half too but he got all his KOs back

it's the old rules and in theory there's gunna be a blood bowl 4 soon, but the company that makes it is insolvent. the problem is less that the micro transactions and live service shit was gay, which it is, and more that they made a lot of the basic shit like being able to read what skills pieces had dogshit on launch. I think they fixed it now but like BB2 color coded by category, bb3 didn't do that at launch. they fixed a bunch of the shit now but it seems like they wanted to put out bb4 because there are so many bad reviews from launch they wanted to get rid of the bad reviews, but since the company is insolvent they can't put out bb4.
the other big issue is that matchmaking blood bowl is always dogshit. League or even naf res style is better and right now they basically turned off all team protections for spins so you might match vs timmy's retard kill team with 200 games that's 2000tv more than you.
fumbbl fixed this by implementing seasons and starting the "black box trophy" where you need to use a squad of 4 teams based on a point by tier system and fumbbl won't match up a season 1 team vs a season 2 team so you can only play someone who has between 1 and 15 games and no one plays season 2+ teams. but now the "problem" is no one plays a team beyond a season and maybe a tournament.
also idk where you live, but blood bowl in general is more dead during first world times, most players live in yurop and play during yuro times
>>
Why the fuck do people take tackle without taking block? I was looking at some NAF rosters and that shit makes no sense to me. one guy had 2 players who just had tackle, no block.
If you have block you won't 1/9 and you'll be just as good at knocking down someone who has dodge without block
If you have wrestle you will take down a blodger just as often as a guy with tackle will take down a blodger, except you aren't risking a 1/9 and it protects your guy when you are getting blocked and it isn't a dead skill when you play against a team that doesn't have dodge

Downgrade from BB2 as a video game
League management I hear is better but no-one wanted to play it in my group
I assume the online system is... better? Because it's not a forever league and your team gets consigned to the leaderboard of a "season" after you hit a certain TV or something
Runs on 2020 rules
Massively expensive cosmetic system
So much asset reuse from BB2 (I can't remember if half the cameras/animations are too) yet everything new is atrociously bad, it's ugly, it has table distance issues with identifying player types which is half a graphics problem, half a problem of being faithful to the tabletop where A LOT of the earlier second season teams are really samey and indistinct, and the premium cosmetics really don't help at all
You can't tell what the frick each skill is each player has because it's a blurry unreadable primary colour square (you can relate a lot of the game's problems to how RTS games became unreadable, unplayable and unfun)
I think the campaign is better than BB2, for letting you pick your team, but I don't remember it having as much narrative fun happening
I don't remember if it's more or less opaque as to dice rolls compared to BB2
I think it'd be best to ask about fumbbl if you want a cheap, trusted or up-to-date experience but I've never used it and don't know if it's better or worse for online games if you just want to play without signing onto a real league
>>
>>98157811
>and don't know if it's better or worse for online games if you just want to play without signing onto a real league
if you're fine with using the java client fumbbl is better for nonleague play. pretty much everyone currently playing fumbbl only plays season 1 teams, so 15 game old teams at the max, in match making and fumbbl has a meta game thing in place to make people play shit other than bashy cancer teams, which used to be a problem in box back in the LRB6 and 2016 eras. plus I think there's some protections for really new teams so you will only match other really new teams. the seasons thing was fucking amazing for fumbbl's match making because you used to run into either little Timmy's 3000tv chaos/nurgle kill team or little Timmy's 1,000 games played zero rerolls 1020 tv chaos pact kill team and now that can't really happen. fumbbl also has multiple weekly tournaments that play similar to leagues that anyone can just join like the rookie rumble and BRAWLs. they also have NAF rez tournaments, minor tv restricted tournaments and 6 major tournaments

it was really hard to play at launch due to the way they implemented things like seeing the skills and because all the teams looked the same and all of the players within a team looked the same. a lot of the blood bowl minis that GW have released since 2016 suck and it's a bitch to tell which one is the dwarf blitzer vs which one is a long beard and shit like that.

Champ wyrds have 8+ willpower so you need to give them decent weapons so they can get some willpower upgrades. If they are wyrds they are not mutants. Your wyrds do get the unipath wyrd ability so dont forget that.
Get creative with your leader and dont take something just because its broken. Also take a thematic leader. A named bounty hunter could make a great basis for a leader. Maybe some kind of mad scientist or radioactive beast which caused the mutations.

Two questions:
Does Dump Off in 2025 still work the same as 2020, aka
>activate player
>declare blitz
>declare target -> dump off activates and is resolved
>blitzer moves (to new ball holder, no block can be declared)
or is it like old rules where the block has to be declared and WILL apply after dump off's resolution?
Who would use Give & Go? I never found a use for Running Pass (the old name, it's exactly the same, right?), in high MA teams I just go and touchdown, in low MA teams I can't move afterwards
Is it more for a high MA runner with secondary passing access to hand off and reposition to provide tackle zones? Or something?

>Does Dump Off in 2025 still work the same as 2020, aka
look up the most recent FAQ. I'm pretty sure dump off currently applies after the blitz has been declared but before movement starts so you can't retarget the blitz, but I know it's specifically mentioned in the May 2026 FAQ

>Who would use Give & Go?
basically no one. I think the imperials get it for free but no one would ever take it. it might be decent for like elves, vamps or gutter runners but elves, vamps and gutter runners all have way better shit to take

>Q: When does Dump-off trigger? (pg. 128)
>A: Right before the Block Action or targeted Special Action is resolved. Dump-off specifies that it may be used when an opposition player performs certain actions. So if a player declares a Blitz against the player with Dump-off, the blitzing player will Move as normal then, when the Block is about to be rolled, the target player may use Dump-off.
Ah, thank goodness the employee who redid 2025 rules didn't hate passing with a burning passion like the last one

>blood bowl rat ogre
>kills your team
>costs feckloads
>glass cannon with anti-dodge tech that only affects two teams that can't otherwise kill him
>frenzy is a double edged sword that makes cages less secure
skills
>juggernaut or horns makes him eat your blitzes
>claws doesn't hurt your linerats more
>pro is double cost but you're only 2 dice rolls away from still punching your own rats
>arm bar lets him farm failed dodges that don't happen and would only work with stand firm... you need SPP to get the skills that would give you the SPP to earn the skills
>break tackle lets him reposition or blitz on demand, killing more of your own rats
>guard is okay, until defensive exists, and defensive + guard makes you wish your guard rogre was never born
Without him, my rats feel like they're fighting an uphill battle where my superstars can do everything but punch
With him, I'm constantly disappointed and that's before the rat tax which I can't tell if it has better odds of killing your players than 2 block die versus AV9+ with occasional Block users factored in
Clan Moulder used to make such good rogres

nobody fucking takes defensive. it only shows up on Amazon big girls and dorf/owa long beards. It's a 40k double for players with guard access and elves aren't going to take it because they don't want to sit there and get hit and they have better shit to take. the only players who might take it are like Big 'uns on the Orc team because they already start with mighty blow but idk, dodge is only like 10k more and is better and stand firm and break tackle are both cheaper
the rogre does help with the one turns and they are trying to force it on you by getting rid of 2 gutters

What do you mean with competitive? Every game has people who min-max their teams to win. If you mean people that play like they are on a Golden Demon Competition? I would say the game that does look the least like a E-League video game.

Weird that there are two ships in BFG that can count as character models. And both are chaos!
