Why is neca making 8in Batman figures? What kind of ridiculous scale is that?
>>
>>11711704
How do these faces work? Will they fall off? Does this mean all kids line figures have removable faces? Or just a few?
>>
Are these new? I want that animated Zatanna.

>>11711711
The accessories look fun as hell.
>>
>>11711722
Mattel supposely has the collector license, which might encompass 1:10 and 1:12 scale. So NECA increased their scale to 1:9 scale to keep on making DC figures.
>>
>>11711732
If she's as hard to get as the comic line I ain't even bothering with that.

>For DC we get our first look at the first wave of DC Core 6.5" figures which includes Superman, Batman, Flash, John Stewart Green Lantern, Joker And Joker as Batman from Joker Wars. The Core figures should cost around $12.95 each and be out this summer.
This is gonna be a HIT

Too expensive for a kids line. 9.99 is max for majority of parents for figures

I wish I was 8 again and got to grow up with these kinds of toys. The fact they come with sprues so kids can get into painting and making kits, encouraging creativity beyond just shelf filling like McFarlanes, is awesome.
My Superman when I was a kid was that clumsy 5 poa shit that looked like David Carradine with a mullet. The rest of the line was awesome and that was undeniably Superman's peak toy era but we never had a perfect Superman. The new mattel one isn't great but if I were 8 I'd have loved the shit out of that.
>>
Man, I'm tired of these kids toys. Show me some imaginext so I can get hype yo.

You know, if Matt makes a $13 Power Girl with a giant Kryptonian battle axe or a cannon that attaches to her tits, I'd buy it.

Maybe I'll stick around a little while longer to see what Matt can do.

Todd still hasn't been able to get Starman Jack out the door.

I'm not really into Masters of the Universe but this Elseworlds cover where Superman wears a suit of armor was always cool as hell and never got a toy, so if they do some kind of crossover thing with DC it might be my best chance at getting the parts to make him.

Many anons in Detective Comics Comics General said when Matt comes he would make every good, and I'm starting to believe them.
>>
>>11711778
Fight me bitch
>>
>>11711773
This is how toy companies prey on people. They slowly get them interested in the next line even though the person already has tons of figures in a different line and scale
>>

They look meh and every bit a budget line to me. I don't get why people are impressed.

Super Powers is continuing but is Entertainment Earth exclusive. Will Todd finally give us more female characters?

>>

I dont even think I had a Superman toy as a kid except for BTAS Brainiac. I think I had JL Aquaman too. Everything else was Spiderman, Batman and Xmen. I did love all my toys though and that Brianiac. I'm happy kids have shit like this though. And also me lol.

Good fake. A real one would be a Deluxe Collector's Edition Platinum Chase.
>>

I guess I'm impressed because I was expecting pure garbage and these look actually halfway decent. It's a low bar, but they managed to at least clear it.

I'm really curious if any parts will be compatible with new MotU stuff coming out like. Like if they will have the same size head joint or HeMan can wear that Superman armour posted above or something.

>>
>>11711836
Okay just saw they'll be $13, I'll definitely get them then. I didn't want to get into Mattel figs but for the price I might as well. Hopefully the "adult" figs aren't over $30

>Will be interested to see what the collector figures look like
Since the DC stuff is being handled by the guy over their WWE lines, probably pretty similar with as much reuse between the two as possible. The WWE line has basic and elite lines that reuse parts between the two and are usually in scale with eachother. Not sure how anyone can get too excited about it based on how they handle WWE--Weird variants, poor part reuse, chase variants, etc.
>>
>>11711796
nice gyno
>>
6.5in scale is too big. Why don't domestic manufacturers make true 6in scale?
>>
>>11711884
Cope and seethe, buddy.
>>
>>11711941
Too small, I guess. I don't think anyone is even doing true 1/12 anymore. China's figures tend to skew towards 7". Mafex was always bigger than 1/12, and now even the smaller skewing Figma, Revoltech, and SHF are all making larger figures than true 1/12. Is Black Series still a bit smaller? Otherwise GIJoe and ML are 6.5", MOTU was 7" and soon 6.5", same for DC from McF to Mattel. Mondo's figures are 7" (though you can argue that these characters are just that big). So ya, basically no one is doing 6' = 6" figure anymore.

>>
>>11712016
depends on how you set your standards. mattel has literally never been not subpar. dcuc was behind their contemporaries, multiverse was appalling, the wwe line has barely evolved since it started all the way back in 2010 and they're still reusing parts from then.

>>11712076
not everyone keeps up with neca's dogshit mego tributes, you fucking weirdo. shit inspired by shit is still shit. nobody likes you!!
>>
>>11712123
My standards are most McFarlanes should still be $20, so I'm skeptical I will be receptive to Mattel's DC unless they're ~$23 and look as good as those MOTU Chronicles figures, with maybe an allowance for $25 if the figure has a wired cape. But I already know they will not do wired capes.

I checked around the main site and the toy site, and it looks like (so far), McFarlane hasn't reused this face, correct? So the only way to get it is from someone selling the body or someone selling just the head and at least, right now, I see people selling the monster and selling the tiny miniature, but no one selling the seven inch figure, much less just the head?

But the body looks like the same body as everything else of late? I'm horrible at telling all these distinctions apart, unlike some of you, but that's just the Silver Age buck/Fleischer Animation, and all the other recent good bodies, but with it's own modern shield and the darker blue, correct?

Thank you.
>>
>>11713474
>that's just the Silver Age buck/Fleischer Animation, and all the other recent good bodies, but with it's own modern shield and the darker blue, correct?
Correct. Also, the head is exclusive to the pack. There's been other angry Supes heads (also in two packs), but they've all been different.

Thank you.

Yes, I have one or two of those head. Although I think I would call some of them more frowning or annoyed!

Someone sold me a lot of used McFarlane bodies that had the Red Son or the Rebirth buck with the angry head - from the Atomic Skull two pack, I think? I wanted the body so didn't really care, and that head is sitting somewhere. I'm starting to organize all that to decide what I want to keep and what I want to sell-off or donate.

>>11713543
That's the wrong shield and it's far too beefy for Dean Cain. And they revealed the Brandon Routh action figure this weekend, supposedly a Tom Welling is coming out so why wouldn't they do a Dean Cain before the year is out?

McFarlane can't really do a movie six pack like they did for Batman, but adding Brandon Routh with the other three they have already, they can re-use and just add two of the television guys or even really appeal to the boomer Superman fans and do one of those weird black and white figures of George Reeves as a Collectors Edition Elite Platinum or whatever nonsense designation he's currently using.

i can't believe mcfarlane never put out total justice retro cards. the only thing i can possibly imagine stopping them is maybe hasbro has some ownership over the art or something? maybe whoever's in charge of the dc line is dumb. i've made it a point to try and put together a total justice lineup but it would've been a lot easier if they just did it for me.

I'll probably just stick with the McFarts I've collected then and be done with DC. I can see a line like ML that already has a built in captive audience going to 28 but a new line which has to lure in new customers that seems like a crazy move.
>>
>>11714445
If the figures are good enough, I'll jump in for that price. If a difference in $3 is enough to deter you, you didn't really want them anyway.

Todd couldn't fill shelves and kept burning retailers by shorting them on orders. The only real sin in retail is making customers angry and everyone kept getting their orders cancelled. Then, valuable shelf space was left empty except for dusty pegwarmers like max Mercury and vampire nightwang.
DC wants kids to be able to buy DC products but Todd could only afford to make like 5,000 of each figure and kept drifting off into collectible chase platinum variant bullshit aimed at adults.
Todd was handed a golden opportunity for half a decade and all he did with it was piss off you, me, Walmart, Best Buy, and Amazon to the point we're just fucking done with him. All Mattel had to do was promise to fill shelves.

I hate Superman Returns but it was the first movie I ever went on a date to and I remember buying this thing a little while afterwards. At least it wasn't as bad as the Snyder movies. Metropolis has never looked better, so I'll rewatch it with the sound off and fast forward through anything that isn't shots of the city with the John Williams theme playing on the computer. I'll try to go for it but won't go crazy buying one at triple MSRP the instant they go up on ebay.

Still no word about Starman Jack. He isn't even in the background of ToyFair pics. Fuck.

What's the likelihood we'll get playsets for the 6.5 scale figures? Even just reworking the old Batcave from back in the day is due, there are entire generations that have grown up without a proper Batcave.

Wishlist:
- Daily Planet Rooftop
- Fortress of Solitude
- JLA Watchtower
- Oa
- Themyscira
- Crime Alley (with a glossy puddle of Batman's tears from crying like a bitch)

That's what happens when a professional organization takes over. Everything becomes standardized and homogenized, so bad headsculpts can't happen. They hire only the best. And they would never be deceptive and start off their line with the best sculpting and gradually get lazier to save on costs. That would betray the trust of their customers.

Back in 2006 it had been 20 years since a Superman movie had been made and the only tv show at the time was Smallville, who kept saying they were never going to use a costume. Returns was awful but it was the first Superman movie that'd been made since I was born.
>>
And even though I hated the costume because the S was too small, at least it sort of looked like the suit from the comics unlike the Cavill suit and the no-diving sign symbol on that new guy's suit.
Returns sucked but it was closer than anything we've gotten since or will ever get again.
>>
>>11715589
It gave us cool Microman toys to go with Batman Begins which was neat
>>
>>11715636
I remember there was some JJ Abrams movie script floating around where Lex was a Kryptonian spy and it ended with them punching each other like Neo and Agent Smith. And the Tim Burton thing with the Nic Cage and the giant spider. Returns wasn't perfect but it could have been way worse.
At least it didn't end with him snapping Lex's neck.

To be fair the Superman figures tend to be a lot more generically Superman than the Reynolds lantern stuff. Brandon Routh was very clearly hired because he kind of looked like Reeve. So it's still just a Superman figure. Reynolds lantern shit was just.... unholy

Do these have some sort of rubber boots or do they really not have ankle articulation?
>>
do you think DC will let Todd make any kind of articulated figure after 2026? Seems like a pipe dream random influencers and MT themselves seem to be discussing as a possibility. But as far as I can tell this doesn't tend to happen when licenses are lost
>>
>>11716256
I can kind of see an avenue through DC Direct for the occasional 7" figure. But it's also hard to expect Mattel to be ok with that since theyll explicitly want people to start new collections at their chosen scale, not continue an existing one, and if New figures came out in that larger scale, some may be inclined not to jump in. If not that, maybe more statues, Todd's Mods, etc.
>>
>>11716262
something tells me Todd's Mods dont sell. Not sure on the statues though
>>
>>11716265
But Todd's Rods will, The Dark Rod Rises and Last Rod of Krypton are going to be bangers!
>>
>>11716256
>>11716262

>DC Direct
This is a trademark of Warner Brothers. Why idiots keep thinking Todd bought it or owns it, is beyond me. He will lose it the same way Kenner didn't get to keep DC Super Friends or DC Super Powers, those are all Warner Consumer Products trademarks and copyrights and they aren't going to let anyone use them - so if you see it, it will be made by Mattel or not made at all, once Todd loses the license.

At most, if you view his Marvel statues as replacements for the Marvel Selects Gallery Statutes by Diamond Select Toys, WB might allow Todd to make these for DC covers and characters in the same limited vein Hasbro hasn't cared about Todd doing them the past year plus.

Does Mattel make statues for MOTU or anything else they license own? I have no clue since I don't care.

>>11716265
They sell but worse than Pops. They are also overpriced for being essentially ugly Funkos. Some of his Marvel sell and I bet some of his sports statues are selling, but this is also the shit you see on clearance even at stores like Best Buy that are not known for clearance. I actually think they can look decent but I am getting rid of all the DTS gallary shit I own now except for my Flash and maybe one other, and I can't imagine people will want 10 of these of Spider-Man or Cap because that's a lot of fucking shelf space and that's what Todd has churned out very quickly.
>>
>>11716384
Putting them into cool poses isn't playing with them?
>>
>>11716404
What 3 yr old is posing their figures in ways that an ankle articulation is necessary?
>>
>>11716386
DC Direct is managed under McFarlane, so it's what a lot of people are wondering. DC Direct used to make their own shit when Mattel was doing theirs and for the past 5 years, McFarlane has been releasing both their children toys and DC Direct's collector figures at the same time.
So will DC Direct continue once Mattel takes over?

Mattel supposedly has the collectors license now, but what does that even mean? Are Mezco and Bandai not allowed to make collector figures anymore? Or is Mattel just calling their more expensive "collector" figures as a marketing gimmick, releasing them in the children's toy aisle and ignoring the collector's market, which allows other companies to continue licensing it?

I hate is reuse of that lanky Donnerverse body. Someone sent me the Kingdom Come Grandpa Superman and told me to keep it when I complained AND still refunded me on eBay (and probably did a $100 claim to USPS) for that part of the auction. So I am halfway to his Crisis suit. I think it's a fucking better head than anything Mattel did but I still wish someone like CT or FondJoy would either KO or may legit licensed versions of the SooSoo Toys and other live action versions.
I still wouldn't mind an Alan Rickman toy as Hawk with multiple heads and his uniform being cloth goods, because then a normal civilian body would also pass as Reacher. And definitely a Titan's Superboy, even with a soft goods Cadamus tee, so we have one that doesn't have stick figure arms and legs.
>>
>>11716439
Yes and yes, but my point is don't you think it's weird that they gave these figures double jointed knees, thigh swivels, wrist hinges, and even swappable face plates but no ankle articulation?

His arms won't go inwardly but there's some extra room laterally, so it isn't like there's no point. Also don't forget that Larsen had a bit part in this figure's approvals, it's entirely possible that he wanted more meat there for a more full pec to better match his art.

Anyone recognize this? The listing claims its a Mattel DC Universe of Wonder Woman but I'm not seeing it on Figure Realm or the one Wonder Woman fan site that listed her toys, but it's badly out of date now that I look it over.

Doll capes are very good when they have wires. Doll capes are really the future of action figures because they add to the articulation by allowing kneeling and other non-standing poses or flying poses.

Plastic capes are very limited on toys, especially collector toys that are supposed to be high articulation, yet so many of the joints become mostly useless with plastic capes.

But you see even Mattel's kids line has doll capes. You won't be able to escape the future. Even Marvel Legends is catching on and realizing they can do doll capes to raise perceived value

>>11720344

>>11720326
>how long the shit has to sit on your warehouse
It's a warehouse in the middle of nowhere in bumfuck Ohio or Minnesota or where the fuck near Chicago they are, since their expedited packages come from the cheap (non-O'Hare) airport package hub. They probably own the land and the building. I doubt three cartons of Sonic and other similar plastic crap take can sit in sealed boxes takes up that much space. It's only when they are down to half a carton that it becomes wasteful.

>>11720445
>far better spent on more valuable product

You're silly, anon. They'd be Amazon in that case. At most, they could possibly expand their comic book business or get into some of GameStop's business, sell more related collectible shit - but they already do that, since they are into tabletop gaming and the Poke trading cards.

You know exactly what they should be stocking in their warehouses instead of toys. Toys for data centers.
>>
>>11720536
Data centers need additional infrastructure nearby. Excess power, the warehouse would need better and different insulation in at least different parts of it that would house electronics.
Be serious, son.
Unless you mean Barbie play set data centers.

Anyone recognize this?
eBay listing claims it's Mattel but they are overcharging for what these are.

I know Mezco made some and bought that piece from someone dumping accessories a few years back, but like the idea of different colors.

Reverse image claims it's LEGO but the bricks don't shine like that. The other reverse image engine coughed up some sort of large light?, but those are bigger than these scale suggest and just come in green.

I would unironically actually buy a Mcfigure of these two. Smallville was a huge part of my teenage years.
>>
>>11720571
they're dilithium crystals from the old playmates star trek line

picked up a spawn today while grocery shopping for my parents and dug out my dad's old spawn he's kept mint for thirty years
was going to wait until zolocon but the spawn was just sitting there and I've been in this game long enough to know you never pass up an opportunity like that

These went up on amazon too. It's weird.

the best part is I remember he only let me have the burnt head version because he said that masked version was rare and he was going to make a shit ton of money off it one day.
I showed him this one comes with both heads and he said, "yeah I already have a Spawn. the original."
I love his boomer energy so much.

It's kind of wild how little /toy/ knows about how basic fucking retail works. I thought a lot of this stuff was just common knowledge.
>>
>>11720617
toy used to be pretty knowledgable and actually used to good first hand source about this shit.
Now there's too many zoomes and third worlders crowding /toy/ with their weird ideas and never actually being inside an (american) store. They're as bad as the shut ins and asspies used to be.
>>
>>11720544
Are you seriously telling me SSDs, ram sticks and HDDs are going to need any different air conditioning/heating than a toy warehouse? These products only need to be climate controlled when on. I'm not talking about turning BBTS into a functioning data center.
>>
>>11720617
Most of /toy/ just imports or buys online and knows little about brick and mortar retail anymore
>>
>>11720654
There aren't any more of those in stock anymore. Warehouses won't have more until 2028. I just panic bought another 4TB drive right before Amazon sold out. I've picked up 12TB of HDD and 2TB of SSD since this whole thing started.
>>
>>11720660
do you think they'll be back by 2028?
>>
>>11720662
Not really

How do I get my Dick smaller? I was getting around to modding my Tempest cause his head sits really low and I was comparing it to Blacqualad who has the same body. I hoped I could just swap neck pegs but they're the same, the placement of sockets in the heads are different. So I looked at canon character heights and found this was done intentionally because Garth is 5'10 and Jackson is 6'1. So I looked at my Titans shelf and noticed my Dick towers over everyone. He is only supposed to be 5'10 himself but they used that flashpoint superman body 6'3. How do I take 5 inches off my Dick without cutting it up?

Well, what do you know. Sometimes you assholes aren't all useless fuckalls. Thanks, anon. I owe you a nice large cold beer of your choice.

>>11720580
I would buy a real two pack as well.

They really should just go ahead and make the same kind of six pack of Supermen, using '78, Routh, Henry, Corenswet and either Tom and Tyler or Tom and Dean.

This slow slow drip is just annoying.

That's a little early isn't it? Does anyone have the CT toys Hush Batman? I just ordered one.
>>
>>11721052
>CT Toys
I have two of the Mafex KO Spidermen, they are a tiny, tiny bit shorter if you put them side by side, so that might be you'd biggest concern - people post photos so maybe look for that?
But as a toy, I think it's fine -- especially for spending $25-$35 over the $100.
I can't wait for them to release the Hush Superman. I almost preordered it off AliExpress but didn't trust a seller with so fee reviews.

>early
We jumped threads @ 285, 295, 300 last year repeatedly. Starting one at 325 is not plus maybe someone had to go into work early.
I'm waiting for my alarm to go off in an hour to start getting ready but it's freezing outside so why get out of bed just because I'm wide awake and bored?
>>
>>11721082
Wait until the thread is at least on page 5. Post count doesn't matter unless the image limit gets hit, but that doesn't happen in DC General so just wait until it's further down on the board before spamming a new thread.

Will Mattel do more vehicles than McFarlane?
>>
>>11721114
How many vehicles did McFarlane do? We already have 2 in the kids line.
>>
>>11721119
For multiverse? Around 40, mostly Batman vehicles.
>>
>>11721119
