I wish I was 8 again and got to grow up with these kinds of toys. The fact they come with sprues so kids can get into painting and making kits, encouraging creativity beyond just shelf filling like McFarlanes, is awesome.
My Superman when I was a kid was that clumsy 5 poa shit that looked like David Carradine with a mullet. The rest of the line was awesome and that was undeniably Superman's peak toy era but we never had a perfect Superman. The new mattel one isn't great but if I were 8 I'd have loved the shit out of that.

Since the DC stuff is being handled by the guy over their WWE lines, probably pretty similar with as much reuse between the two as possible. The WWE line has basic and elite lines that reuse parts between the two and are usually in scale with eachother. Not sure how anyone can get too excited about it based on how they handle WWE--Weird variants, poor part reuse, chase variants, etc.

Mafex was always bigger than 1/12, and now even the smaller skewing Figma, Revoltech, and SHF are all making larger figures than true 1/12. Is Black Series still a bit smaller? I checked around the main site and the toy site, and it looks like (so far), McFarlane hasn't reused this face, correct? So the only way to get it is from someone selling the body or someone selling just the head and at least, right now, I see people selling the monster and selling the tiny miniature, but no one selling the seven inch figure, much less just the head?

But the body looks like the same body as everything else of late? I'm horrible at telling all these distinctions apart, unlike some of you, but that's just the Silver Age buck/Fleischer Animation, and all the other recent good bodies, but with it's own modern shield and the darker blue, correct?

I hate Superman Returns but it was the first movie I ever went on a date to and I remember buying this thing a little while afterwards. At least it wasn't as bad as the Snyder movies. Back in 2006 it had been 20 years since a Superman movie had been made and the only tv show at the time was Smallville, who kept saying they were never going to use a costume. Returns was awful but it was the first Superman movie that'd been made since I was born.

And even though I hated the costume because the S was too small, at least it sort of looked like the suit from the comics unlike the Cavill suit and the no-diving sign symbol on that new guy's suit.
Returns sucked but it was closer than anything we've gotten since or will ever get again.

He will lose it the same way Kenner didn't get to keep DC Super Friends or DC Super Powers, those are all Warner Consumer Products trademarks and copyrights and they aren't going to let anyone use them - so if you see it, it will be made by Mattel or not made at all, once Todd loses the license.

DC Direct is managed under McFarlane, so it's what a lot of people are wondering. DC Direct used to make their own shit when Mattel was doing theirs and for the past 5 years, McFarlane has been releasing both their children toys and DC Direct's collector figures at the same time.
So will DC Direct continue once Mattel takes over?

Mattel supposedly has the collectors license now, but what does that even mean? Are Mezco and Bandai not allowed to make collector figures anymore? Someone sent me the Kingdom Come Grandpa Superman and told me to keep it when I complained AND still refunded me on eBay (and probably did a $100 claim to USPS) for that part of the auction. So I am halfway to his Crisis suit. I think it's a fucking better head than anything Mattel did but I still wish someone like CT or FondJoy would either KO or may legit licensed versions of the SooSoo Toys and other live action versions.
I still wouldn't mind an Alan Rickman toy as Hawk with multiple heads and his uniform being cloth goods, because then a normal civilian body would also pass as Reacher. Doll capes are very good when they have wires. Doll capes are really the future of action figures because they add to the articulation by allowing kneeling and other non-standing poses or flying poses.

Plastic capes are very limited on toys, especially collector toys that are supposed to be high articulation, yet so many of the joints become mostly useless with plastic capes.

But you see even Mattel's kids line has doll capes. You won't be able to escape the future. Even Marvel Legends is catching on and realizing they can do doll capes to raise perceived value
