The ironborn getting sieged was just living his life (in an alternate universe where you forever live in one moment) and is now being sieged for literally no reason.

They’ve been trying to explain this to thick Andal people for years with the shorthand "The Iron Price". These tomboysh ironbron captainesses are trying to explain that, while to you it appears that her ironborn father committed some horrific act of violence, in fact that was actually a completely different ironborn in a parallel universe.

Good point, I never thought about that. I guess that means the riverlands are just as cut off from coastal transport as are all other inland regions. Not that Grrm has spent any thought about the logistics of his world.
