Okay, I really need to rant about why we enjoy smash so much because people are incredibly mis-informed about smash. Yes, there are instances where people can get comboed from 0-death and yes it means less time is spent during neutral. People like to talk about how smash is this incredibly aggressive series because the ridiculous number of movement options allow it, but I would postulate that, especially at high level, smash's defensive play surpasses it's offensive play in terms of depth. We talk about "combos" in smash but these combos are nothing like MVC combos or any other fighting game. You never just memorize buttons to perform combos and you never just put down the controller and watch you character die while you get combo-ed. Combos in smash are a continuous interaction between the two players, not just an execution test for the one person performing. There are so many defensive options like combo DI, survival DI, combo SDI, survival SDI, ASDI down, anti jab-reset SDI up, SDI/ASDI to ledge and wall teching, DI and SDI to slide off tech, DI down to Amsah tech and the list goes on and on. We all saw that viral 0-death Shiz pulled off against KJH that one time. KJH was not just watching it happen to his character. He was actively mixing up his DI to escape the combo. Shiz simply was able to cover ever escape option through quick thinking. And Shiz had never spent time to practice this exact combo. All of it had to be improvised to fit with KJH's attempts to escape. I guarantee that in all the years of smash's history, not a single soul has performed a combo with the exact same order of moves as Shiz had done here.
