Question of the thread: How do I use custom NPC animations in my mod and how do I make it work with NEMESIS/Pandora?
Bonus question is there a standard methodology for editing NPC daily schedules and is there a way to do it without breaking compatibility with other mods that do?
I think the main problem with Skyrim's side quests is that none of the characters are memorable so it feels like there's nothing. Oblivion doesn't have this problem and Morrowind is so old that its characters became memorable despite the lack of expression.
We’ve got a big problem. The Imperials and Stormcloaks are putting out peace feelers and showing signs of signing a permanent cease fire. Fuck that. The civil war is the main engine that drives our business. I can’t have peace breaking out all over Skyrim. I’ve got a fucking cartel to run. I’m not taking a hit on my bottom line because a bunch of fucking peace-lovers want an end to the fighting. The peace delegations are meeting in Helgen as that’s considered neutral territory now. I’ve hired twenty Necromancers to attack the peace conference. I want you to monitor the assault and make it look like both sides shafted the other. Obviously, no one comes out alive. Oh, and it’s a fine day with you around.
>>566509749 Maybe because the side quests in Oblivion have *slightly* more to them. In Skyrim, most quests follow a very restrictive formula of dungeon clearing, with barely any attempt of hiding that fact.
It's all a lack of flavor dialogue. You can speak to a random Oblivion NPC that doesn't even have a quest attached to their name and learn more about them than you do for most Important NPCs in Skyrim.
It's actually so tedious. You can't do a single thing without it taking hours of ingame time (which makes you hungry and exhausted). Do they genuinely expect me to roleplay as a woodchipper for 50 days to be able to afford armour so I can actually do a quest or what.
>>566510250 I got lost in oblivion. It was one of my favorite games at the time. Naturally I was excited for skyrim after morrowind and oblivion. I quit skyrim in 11/12/11 out of sheer disappointment in how lackluster and dated the entire game felt.
Glenmoril is fucking boring at the start. The whole going back and forth between the kid and the guard is talking too long to end. I assume it's trying to get me invested in the two characters before they get brutally murdered or sold into child sex slavery but it won't work when I'm already expecting it.
Any mods that add SMP/HDT to objects in the world? Is it even possible? I've seen hanging laundry mods but they don't use SMP which seems like the perfect testing grounds for it.
Removing a few patreon outfits cause I can't find SPID mods for them. It's pretty stupid that mod authors don't just assume half of people will want SPID and offer it as an optional file wherever they host.
>>566526475 It's pretty easy to edit the ESP to include the outfit data so you can distribute with SPID It's just time consuming to figure out which armor pieces use which slots and then doing that for armors with multiple variations
>>566527663 the this is the bad part about native code plugins, at least with pex scripts its sandboxed unless there are exploits in the script interpreter and that nobody is required to post the source code on their SKSE plugins
>>566528060 >pex scripts its sandboxed >sandboxed If we've learned anything from software is that there's always an exploit and knowing the clowns at bethesda there's probably multiple ones.
>some random ass high level enemy spawns inside whiterun, sinful 7 maybe >before i even make contact he does some weird ass shout that launches me into the stratosphere and i land outside the city walls damn
>>566529524 I know this is bait, but I actually like Two World 2, and can't believe it came out relatively close to Skyrim. Skyrim has become timeless. Though, that says more about the shit, awful, libtarded, creatively bankrupt times we live in more than anything else. Like… what the fuck happened? It's like culture just stopped, and we live in some sort of rotten time capsule.
>>566529181 >no Morrowind creatures in the Rift even though there was a major natural disaster that would have driven those animals west >no Gehenoths or Ice Tribes in the Pale despite that being lore from the only other game set in Skyrim >no Ayleid ruins in the south (genuinely the best part of AE) >all the wildlife is just Earth animals Skyrim's fantasy mystifies me. It's like they somehow had an aneurysm mustering the creativity to make the Draugr and Falmer.
>>566520742 The worst part is even though I knew what was going to happened any attempt to avoid led to an instant game over. Asshole even mocks me saying I need to let things happen out of my own "free will".
>>566530359 is this what happens in most recent updates? I haven't bothered to update for a tiny amount of extra lore added from eso. id rather have 0.99 or 1.0
>>566532552 >is this what happens in most recent updates? Maybe, the AI voice patch I have doesn't cover that scene so it could be something from a newer update.
>>566533184 I'm in .94 i think.. havent updated because it's such a minsicule amount of updates. I want the end of glenmoril or idc really. glenmoril having no ending currently is why im trying to do a multi-character save. It'll be the 'ending' for char 1 and they can just die in surtsbrunnr ur w/e
>>566520590 >>566520742 >Glenmoril is fucking boring at the start. Hopefully, in the final release, he removes some of those interactions with her. >when I'm already expecting it. The lack of options is why I don't recommend playing it until the final release. >>566537001 vvvvvvvvvvvv
>>566537615 nah fuck you and the other guy (not literally, im not a pedo) the interactions with lalanoah are cute and funny and necessary. if you don't like them then idk just use the skips in the debug room?
>>566537784 My main complain is the back and forth, also I had a bug (probably to do with the translation) where brandt would repeat the same line and not advance the quests which made it extra annoying
>>566538139 yeah i got that bug, lost my save to it. was a shame but w/e dac0da was also bugging out at the time so i just wiped it all and started fresh
>>566537784 It's fine the first time, but it becomes tedious on subsequent playthroughs. Skyrim just isn't the right medium for storytelling. With his other mods he seamlessly integrated storytelling with gameplay.
>>566538337 the issue, for you i suppose, is that glenmoril -is- a story. iirc it is specifically a story that the black owl is writing about you, You can't really leave it unless you just don't do the quests. It's not about you, it's about the characters and the inevitability of it all. I imagine it's why a lot of people also seem to fall off of beyond reach which is also a story with a definitive end and there's nothing you can really do except make it less awful
>>566537784 The back and forth between Falkreath and Lalanoah's house is my main issue. The first arc of Vigilant also had you go back to Altano after doing anything but you were moving across the holds while doing it so it never felt as repetitive.
Lorefag question here. Are Daedra's stances nuanced? Or are they autistic forces of nature? For example, would there ever be a circumstance wherein a Necromancer could earn Meridia's favor?
>>566540625 I would love the safehouse without the museum. I could never bring myself to use it after one of the NPCs talk about going inside your loaned house, up the stairs to your bedroom, opening the secret door to your treasury that she just happened to know about and picking up money to pay for stuff you order, At that point I just couldn't look at it as a player home, that lack of privacy makes it not better than a hotel room.
Hey, anyone know what it means when I drop a mesh into the CK the ingame previewer thing will go all black. Trying to add this bird cage from BSTamriel and when I drop the mesh in to move it the screen goes all black in some angles. Makes it impossible to position.
>>566541264 >Are Daedra's stances nuanced? Depends on the deadra. They are ultimately trapped by their natures, but some "think" much more than others. Meridia is on the low end of thinking. Very black and white.
All that said write your own story. The lore is there to enhance your game not restrict it.
>>566538843 >>566537784 I don't like how linear and mechanical some of the early quests in Glenmoril feel. One of them was basically just a checklist of simple instructions: Objective #1 Click on cat Objective #2 Eat apple Objective #3 Pick up item Objective #4 Talk to girl It's the complete opposite of Vigilant, which throws the player into an open world and lets them decide how they want to approach things.
>>566529524 >>566530025 I had great times playing the weird coop maps with friends in two worlds 1. We would try to clear the map before the memory leak or whatever it was on the 360 version caused the geography to start losing textures
Skyrim's standout character, the game's equivalent of Fargoth or the Adoring Fan, doesn't have a (non-radiant) quest associated to him. Why haven't modders fixed this?
>>566548205 It's kind of funny that the most famous Skyrim NPC was the only one written by Michael Kirkbride, and they're only a throwaway NPC played for laughs
>>566549405 I think there is a self(wind)-turning stone wheeled mill somewhere in the files. Like the one at Sarethi farm. Not sure if it plays nice indoors tho.
>>566550817 Did you make a copy of an actual door? I made the mistake at first of just making static of a door. Turns out doors are it's own special entry. So make a copy of one, set the mesh to whatever you want and place is. Then right click, edit, teleport tab and just link it to whatever cell you want. Sorry if I explained poorly.
>>566550994 Yeah, looks like that's what it's gonna be. Fuck me, now I gotta navmesh and light up four rooms. Thankfully two are really small.
>>566551507 >>566550989 when its just two or 3 blokes sending each other porn of their waifus fucking eachother it's no longer a general. It's sexting. they should get a private room and go full erp.
>>566552617 There's already one on LL and it's in the best 10% of elevenlabs voicing besides the forced laughter but it's made for cannonborn and has too much feet
>>566552518 >>566552709 if you walked into a club and theres like 4 guys in a circle slowly jerking each other off and not talking to anyone else would you stay in the club or walk away? I think that's what that anon is complaining about or he's just shitposting.
>>566552650 Not being reductive. Lydia is as much a noncharacter as the Battlehorn Men-at-Arms. Balgruuf fares only slightly better in that other characters mention him.
>>566553185 Not a single person makes reference to heimskr or so much as speaks to him besides Vignar saying he'll build him a temple after his house is destroyed (he doesn't) he also has a generic voice type so he can hit on women in the bannered mare, a place he never goes to balgruuf's character is undermined by his (lack of) wife and children but he gains more via his back and forth with the other actual character with actual motivations, ulfric, which you can draw ballin's opinions and dispositions from
Well, mill is decorated. Thanks for the suggestions/ideas guy. I think that's that for decorating. Now for idle markers, navmesh and lighting for all four rooms.
>>566554603 I know you can do it like that somehow, but I don't know. I'm still very new to all this so i'm not the best help.
>>566555196 I keep forgetting to fix that. Pretty sure it's HalkHogan's old pickaxe mod. Instead of giving the mesh a custom texture directory he replaced the vanilla one.
>>566555407 That's weird, but like I said i'm new to all this so i'm not sure. That looks right to me, I could try asking around some modders I know and see if they can figure it out.
does race/sex changing with showracemenu mid save break things? i have a template save with a few things set up that i'd rather not have break because i went from a cute fem elf to a burly male orc.
>>566557231 >does race/sex changing with showracemenu mid save break things? Yes. Some mods are spaghetti coded. The rule is, if you are 10 hours into your save don't switch gender.
>>566557231 Yes it does, but changing cometic things like hair, face and body sliders is fine. But you could try this mod, it claims to fix stuff from race changes https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/173086
>>566557231 >>566557315 Changing genders messes up your skill levels. At least that happens whenever I do it to check what a piece of armor looks like on a woman.
>>566559496 She would overfeed on the thrall and starve to death. But she's still more believable than Khabal whose fangs are so long it would instanta kill all her thrall.
Glenmoril get much better once you join the witch hunters, just done their first quests and it was about as good as the later parts of Vigilant's act 1. I'm not digging the random technological advancements it forced upon the game. Guns, long range radio communication, tracking bugs, modern medicinal tools and Victorian era clothes feel so wrong.
>>566560715 I could attempt to replace the guns with the VC arquebus, i did that for lore-friendly rifles. Modern medical tools could also be replaced too, probably. As for the long range radio and tracking bug, well nothing I can do about that.
>>566561017 There is a chance that all anachronisms are intentional, both DAC0DA and Vigilant had timeline shenanigans. I feel like the mod creator cares too much about his lore to just push the Bloodborne aesthetics without caring about making it fit the world.
>using jaysloppa smart enemy potions >having a real slobberknocker with a bandit >she's drank like five potions >check her inventory with console >no potions >go back to the fight >she drinks another potion
Been watching and catching up on a lot of fantasy anime lately such as Frieren, Overlord, Konosuba, etc. and attempted to mod Skyrim to be comfy like those shows but unfortunately its just not the same or falls short. Any recommendations for mods or other games that capture that feel?
>>566563828 Nords = German Imperial = Roman Breton = French Redguard = Black Altmer = Chinese Dunmer = Japanese Orc = Mongol Khajit = Indian (cat jeet) Argonian = Aztec Bosmer = cultureless to be honest
>>566549539 Yeah, I know it's not original to fart in Skyrim's dick, but it feels very lazy and barebones. Most people that defend Skyrim haven't played it vanilla for years.
>>566563818 It's true. But not just elves. Skyrim characters in general look like their faces are made of old shoe leather that's also low res and artifacted. Our modded characters basically look nothing like your standard 2011 'rimoid.

>>566564090 Skyrim's world, as in the very basic functional elements of its sandbox, is incredibly good. Every hold has its own unique ecosystem, dungeons are painstakingly handcrafted. You could lose yourself in it for hours. Then all that immersion finally shatters when you enter the so-called "capital city" and "hustling and bustling trade hub" and see that it's only five shacks, the Jarl's hall, one guild HQ, a tavern, and a temple. You talk to an NPC and they're so fucking boring to listen to and forgettable as well. To make things worse, this tiny village they call a "city" is less than a mile away from multiple bandit camps and a fort. A lone guardsman patrols the trade routes when there's more bandits in the game than lawful citizens in the city (or even the country). Then you realize that the game would've been so much better if it was supposed to be only half of Skyrim or something, maybe then so much wouldn't be obfuscated in the abstraction of it all.
I feel like for the most part, Bethesda's world design is pretty good. Their writers and lead designers are fucking awful. An argument could definitely be made that much of Skyrim's success hinges on the fact that its world is actually far more compelling than the standard Ubishit open world, it's just a shame that all that gets pooped on by Emil and Todd's whimsical desires.
>>566565714 The Elder Scrolls was made before the Woke Mind Virus infected libtards and made everything about identity politics. In fact, democrats then are essentially the republicans now. It’s not hard to see why when you factor in self-bumps.
>>566569083 Forcing races into settings which they weren't a part of is woke. Imagine if they made a Zulu movie and made half of the Zulus white. It's like that. Except that would be "reverse woke," because the people that push wokeness believe in an oppression hierarchy, which black people and women being the most oppressed. They wouldn't change black people into white, unless it's about criminals (like with that Adolescence Netflix show.)

Also, when I was digging through Glenmroil's assets the other day for the house mod, I found a lot of weird shit I haven't seen yet. I know for a fact I found some alien meshes. Like generic grey alien type stuff, but digging now I can\t seem to find it. VICN has something odd instore for Glenmoril.

Honestly considering downloading a Morrowind modpack/list/collection/whatever, sifting through the mods was doable 8 years ago, but with MMH gone and only accessible via internet archive and the explosion of mods caused by OpenMW, Tamriel Rebuilt, etc, I can't be assed.
My launch time was 4 minutes. After using CAO to pack everything into BSAs, it dropped to 3 minutes. But then I unpacked all the town and landscape overhaul mods back into loose files, and somehow the launch time dropped to 2 minutes. I'm so confused.
>try to do any dungeon or fortress involving spellcasters >get hit by one shock spell >have to reload a save otherwise get persistent crackle forever >except reloading save is bad for your save health so have to restart the entire game which takes several minutes even on a top end ssd >noone else seems to have experienced this issue with shock, only with fire or frost >can't figure out how to fix this or the name of the crackle sound file so i can attempt to patch it by copying the method from the fire crackle fix

I swear, despite all the hate Oblivion gets for being ugly, I still think it's the best looking TES game, aside from the ugly character models of course. The picturesque oil painting quality gives it a unique fantasy flavor, while Skyrim's style is way too harsh, and texture packs only seem to make it look like papier-mâché.
>>566584234 It's pretty bad at that because it doesn't give a "favorable outcome" It also frequently doesn't know when it knows, it isn't ACTUALLY human-like.

I really love Skyrim Realistic Conquering, it makes the world feel much more genuine. There are some funny issues like RnR (?) continuing to populate the rear tower with bandits, resulting in guard's corpses laying around there but not in the front tower. Does anyone know of similar mods that make it more like a persistent world?
Also, I had an issue where after completing Blessings of Nature, Eldergleam Sanctuary appeared as undiscovered which I assume meant it was renovated, but trying to enter the interior caused my screen to stay black like how it fades in immediately after going through a load screen. I could hear environmental sounds but no controls, including console or escape menu, would work.
>>566589927 Nah, biggest problem I have is ram. I got 1900 ish mods and if I'm somewhere ultra populated I have to make sure I don't max anything out. >>566587510 How much better do the character models get in oblivion with a total overhaul? I mean one that leans into realism rather than anime girls. I considered buying the remastered version for that reason alone. However, I heard too many complaints about frame drops so I'm thinking I may just be better of with a modded GotY edition.
>>566590801 Yeah I suppose I should install that, it seems like it does work I just need to pick and choose the modules. There's a list of incompatible ones in the comments.
>>566593838 That one is from Tullius 3. The VHR one isn't bad, and I remember KS hairs having a few alright ones but they aren't SMP. I need to find a decent wig with hair down so I can wear big stupid hats
>>566595330 No, it's still 1TB. I keep files on my actual computer too though since I can't run the game on it. Right now the only things installed on my deck is Skyrim, Minecraft, and Rimworld. Actually I think Twilight Princess is in my roms folder too.
>>566595181 Be nice to the anime rats, or else they might pray to their plague god to give you the coof
>>566595726 My zoomer brother knows about modding but in a very basic way. He plays with minecraft modpacks. I introduced him to Better Than Adventure last time we spoke. He also has played Skyrim modded a little bit, though on xbox.
>>566596335 >He plays with minecraft modpacks. Minecraft modding in general's a different beast (since you barely need to care about conflicts) and modpacks are complete easy mode on top of that. But at least he's not one of those retards who equate mods with cheating and only cheating, that's something.
>>566596219 isn't that stuff through a client with packs it can be simple at first but modded skyrim eventually needs xedit and mo2 with some conflict resolution with dyi patches and patchers as you acquire awareness and taste if you're just used to phones hiding folder structures it probably looks like advanced faggotical knowledge rather than a smol logical leap from normal computer use modpacks are around now but they're just a faster waste of time like the old modlists guides like s.t.e.p. or tpf since skyrim is just too vast & personal when it comes to what ppl enjoy about it
>>566596219 roblox is its own contained platform and minecraft has gigagillions of preset curated packs, nothing like it was in 201X (well kind of if you played ftb type shit)
>>566596219 Minecraft modding goes something like this: >"I want to download Create mod and build an airship" >only supposed 1.21.1 and on NeoForge only >"okay cool now I want to download this neat overhaul" >it's a Fabric mod and it's on 1.20.1 only >"okay well maybe I can try this mod instead?" >you have to download 5 different library mods that weren't listed on the curseforge page + a data pack that you only find out about later through a youtube video that briefly mentions it, oh and it's technically for regular Forge but some jeet child had grok port it so it kinda works, maybe
Still easier than manually making patches through xedit or being forced to use the creation kits in any capacity though. A LOT more annoying though.
>>566598106 interesting to think about. I always assumed there would be new modders to carry on the torch but maybe that's not the case since young people aren't as interested
Would anyone know why Serana doesn't perform any melee attacks in combat and only occasionally casts spells? I added her to NFF to try changing her clothing and teaching her spells, I'm not sure if that's related. I removed her from the framework and removed the "standard outfit" but she's still having issues.
>>566602169 In my experience if the character CAN cast a spell they will. It's annoying because it often leads to characters like Teldryn constantly dual casting destruction and Serana resurrecting whatever she can even if it's like an elk or something. From what I understand it's a vanilla bug, and NFF doesn't fix it. It WILL however force characters like Erandur to actually use his healing spells and i've had some success by setting teldryn as a tank to at least make him actually hold the pale blade in combat
Does anyone know if Scrying orbs are actually canon in TES? I can't recall if I've ever seen one in use. Is clairvoyance even really canon? Or was it just a crutch, Bethesda felt that they had to have in the game because a compass/map with markers is too hard to follow for the modern audience.
>>566603204 That's an Altmer >>566603671 No, this is Oinara, a Thalmor inquisitor >>566604958 What cat, for what quest? I have probably just used the spell once. >>566605125 That's what I kinda feel like I've seen as well. Let's hope we can get wizards in towers with orbs in TES 6. Emil claims to love Conan, so there really should be more S&S influences in it.
>>566603862 >>566603051 >>566603051 Oinara along with Lerchefus (Elins) are the best waifus to come out of /tesg/ in a VERY LONG time. I would even dare to say they are the best waifus in /tesg/ history.
>>566610332 I had this happen due to a fillherup/92bbb bug while recording webms earlier this week, which is funny because it's definitely my fetish, but I didn't want to include it due it being a bit too specific https://files.catbox.moe/k5h3ou.mp4
>>566610994 No but I can ID that the preset is from definitely-not-Brig on nexus >>566613831 Looks like DD2, which is still fun even if it was used as a sacrifice by capcom.
>>566617145 Wrong, it is very rare to do so. With most examples being ghosts. This is due to the soul stages regarding sleeping and dreaming and whether or not they have been recycled through the dreamsleeve or are in one of the various "afterlives"
