Newbie here. How do you actually use jabs? They barely lead to proper gatlings and you can only combo from it on counter but I suck at hit confirming so I cannot properly combo off them if that happens.

It's not gonna be something you use much for mashing on defense or checking approaches in neutral since it's short and would whiff against anything even slightly low profiling. Using your P and K buttons are also for the sake of mashing on defense. If a character is in your face, you probably don't wanna hit a button that takes a long time to actually connect, or rather you wanna use the quickest thing you possibly can. That is where your 2P or 2K come into play. Respectively, they are 5 and 6 frames to start which is much faster than your admittedly fast far slash at 9 frames or your 2S at 10 frames

EX's are actually a lot harder to implement than i thought. i tried doing 25 tension, like +r, but they ended up being too strong and spamable and made you ignore other tension mechanics like rc, daa and overdrive.
i tried to make them straight 50 burst, as a risk reward, but then you have resource snowballing, like WA, where you can spam ex into rc or super. it forces the player to lock themselves out of their main defensive tool.
i guess i could do the Granblue thing and make them cost 50 tension, with a 25 gain on hit, but then what would be the point of spending an overdrive over and EX move?
i could raise the overdrives to 100 tension. but an overdrive would need to be really fucking good to compensate for the high cost. not to mention tension gain would need to be adjusted, leading to more EX spam and ignoring more system mechanics.

I remember quite well that about 3 years ago when Snake Eyez won Texas Showdown, Potemkin was widely considered a bottom 5 character. With 2.0 and the previous patch Potemkin got no joke about 20 nerfs, yet hes still actually one of the better characters in the game, maybe even top 10 currently. I feel like the game itself might be lowkey set to call Unika players monkeys. I've noticed my Technique rating with her after any match is always pretty low, even if I convert everything and only optimals. Maybe it's the game's way of calling the character braindead... My other theory is that it counts whiffed 6Hs against the rating.
