The split isn't just a board thing, it's a more fundamental split in actual subject matter: are you in /aicg/ for proxy-related shit (remember "post burners" spam?), or are you in /aicg/ to post and discuss bots like in the pre-proxy days? I don't know that it really needed to happen, nor do I think it's all that necessary these days, but it's pretty telling that all it would take for the "fake" split to end is for people to stop using either of them.
