but i actually find Dave and Jade's conversations to be the most surface level and "fake" out of anyone other than rose and jade. I think Jade in general has a layer of artificiality she maintains just as much as dave, but since that mask is "helpful cheer leader" it goes unnoticed and un challenged. You could aurgue that what dave *needs* is low stakes normal conversations where he can be comfortable, but I would also argue being enabling of his macho man persona isn't the best way to do that. Cause again i don't think he's "being himself" with Jade. I would argue the mask never fully slips off, just aspects of it that are taken off for each person, he isnt cynical or as rude and mean with jade, but he is still flippant and macho.

But this is more of a flaw of Jade's character and not so much Dave, dave just wants to feel useful and appreciated, something Jade understands pretty well herself. So her playing into that is natural because she *likes* that side of him, but she isn't trying to bring out the genuine passionate and heated side of Dave, which is his true personality, and where the time aspect shines, but just enabling what Dave *thinks* he wants to be.
