I'm not aiming for a bulging 6 pack like the models on magazines have. I would rather have a toned stomach where my abs are slightly visible.

No, abs are revealed in the kitchen .

What about regular decline push-ups?

I do calisthenics & I eat mostly healthy.
>mostly
Still eat a bit of shit but used to be much worse.

>Do push-ups contribute to ab development?
minimal, only isometric and mostly endurance
it's just a worse version of a plank
>would rather have a toned stomach where my abs are slightly visible.
and with that mindset you will never get them anyway
if you want any horizontal separation at all
you need sufficient muscle mass
which you won't get with push ups
what you can do
>hanging knee raises
>v-ups
>windshield wipers
>any variation of leg raises
and of course
>plank (variations)
it's not that planks (and push-ups) are bad, in fact on the best exercises you can do health wise
but you will hit the limit for muscle growth pretty quick

If that were the case everyone in the Army would have 6 packs.
But yet they're all skinny fats and skellies.
Push up do nothing but make you good at push ups.
And then you plateau in 6 months and never add another push up to your push up test ever unless you start lifting weights

I saw Khabib training his guys by having them hold the 'up' part of a push up for an extended time, I'm guessing something like half an hour because it's pretty easy but then again it looked like the end of a session. Planks are a faster but harder way but you can argue they're not great for your shoulders.
TLDR: No unless you hold it for a very long time

no, u need something to tung on your pelvis backwards, like picture - employ full lumbar flexion, and I NEED TO have rubber soled shoes doing it otherwise i am fucking sliding xD
paraletts are nice too, hex dumbbels will do, but wooden paraletts with fat grip (i made two a while ago) are best
and no because i've done thousands of poshups, at one point thousand a week was my dose and did not have abs and now i do :D
