I asked in the last thread, but my question got buried in the resident schizo's rant: what are the biggest differences between the Oneplus Nord 5 and the 15R? I understand the latter has a better screen, larger battery, esim support, and marginally faster soc. Am I missing anything?

Here the Nord 5 is about €350 for 8/256, and the 15R €500 for 12/256. I don't need more storage than 256GB since I self host most of my media. €150 (almost 50% extra) feelt like a lot for the difference, hence I wondered if there was something I was missing.
>>
>>108942519
the OnePlus has a higher durability rating, faster soc, faster storage and a better display. nord is a mid ranger and the 15r is a mid ranger with some flagship specs. it depends if those things matter to you or not to justify the small amount of extra money.

Used a samsung 25 ultra for 30 days, terrible phone.
OneUI is slow and tacky, very weird and non uniform design choices, battery life was absolutely terrible, worse than my old iphone levels. Camera stuttered hard when taking photos and overall felt very unintuitive to use. Its a fast phone sure, but the software is terrible on it.
Switched to oneplus 15 with oxygenOS and I'm liking it. I really dont care that its a clone of apple, because its a really good clone and its smooth. I use the button for gemini way too often.
Its a very fast flagship phone, and battery life is insane. I'll use it for a day, be at 70% and then use it the next day and be at 50% and then the next day is when it will be near 15% at the end and I'll have to charge it which it has fast charging in 30 minutes.

Let's settle once and for all which phones are good and which are bad.
Good:
>Apple
>Samsung
>Sony
>Asus
>Fairphone
Bad:
>Huawei
>Xiaomi
>OnePlus
>Oppo
>Vivo
>Realme
>Honor
>Motorola
>Nothing
Any brands I didn't mention should be assumed to be bad.

Why do you think my name is Sanjay? My name could be anything.
>Asus
I read that they're stopping phone production but apparently they will still provide updates for existing models:
>The brand will still offer maintenance, software updates, and warranty services for existing smartphones
https://www.gsmarena.com/confirmed_asus_is_exiting_the_smartphone_mark et_-news-71158.php
So if you were to get an Asus Zenfone 12 Ultra (released last year) you would still get 4 years of security updates because they said they would give 5 years of updates after release:
>You can expect to receive at least two major software updates and at least five years of security patches, according to Asus

If you think GREEN LINES (a hardware problem) magically occurs because Samsung updated your phone and not due to damaged hardware you are an idiot.
Probably what happened is the heat from doing the update triggered the problem happening, caused by previous damage and/or drops to the phone.
EVERY phone with an OLED screen can have this issue. iPhones get green/purple lines too, both the ones with Samsung screens and that other manufacturers (LG, BOE). It is not caused by software.
Besides that video is suspect, how did the brown hand man know there would be a green line after the update? Suspicious.

A shame Snoy killed the 5 product line, but I guess nobody was buying the 1 because of it. With all its flaws, the Xperia brand is still the only one offering what I want from a smartphone, while everyone else always misses something, which is annoying as fuck because of their absurd asking price.

I mean, it seems like the tide is changing somewhat. Motorola is officially partnering with GrapheneOS for OEM support.
Normies will never care about other ROMs, they just want their phones to work like they expect. This is the case for apple and android.

By the p8p, they refined that turd enough that it's bad but not that bad.
The P8p is a decent phone same for 9.
The 10pro on the custom soc is much better. The 11 is a hardware revision of the 10 so should just be more stable.

What the fuck is wrong with android is it because it uses linoox? I open photos app, takes half a second to load the photos instead of instant. Swipe up to close it, stuttered while in motion on animation.
Oneplus 15. Going to return it on amazon and buy an iphone.

It's weird, but not unexpected, that the S25 Edge got shit on by critics, whereas the tech industry collectively fellated the iPhone Air. Even though the Air:

Not sure if this is the thread to ask this in but what are some patched versions of twitter/twitter clients that I can use on android that are alternatives to piko?
I'd been using piko patches with revanced, then switched to the pre-patched apks of twitter off github. But now the chat/dms function doesn't work and says I need to update and there's no pre-patched apk of the newest version.
I switched to morphe to try and patch the twitter apk myself but the twitter apk needs to be one that's only on their telegram channel and not the ones off apkmirror

Probably a combination of
>Sony brand name/image
>highly desirable features to a niche audience like microSD, 3.5mm jack and no notch in a single phone
>smaller volume produced
They've been trying to improve margins by ditching 4K and 21:9, moving production outside of Japan and putting jack shit in their boxes aside from the phone itself.

Oh I wasn't aware they'd done away with that.
I have the 5V and though I use the 2 slots, especially when travelling, I've been really envious of the 5V model from other regions that have e-sims. Beats having to keep slotting in travel sims. I actually broke the little flap last time I travelled.
Still, the 1VII is obviously cheaper than the VIII.

I just went with the oneplus 15 because it supports verizon with visible. Been using it for a couple days just got it in the mail, its very smooth and no complaints here on the software side. Software is really clean and smooth and emulates apple while being better.
I used the iphone 17 pro max for the last week it was so terrible I had to send it back.
Screen felt like it was 50hz stutterfest with choppy animations. Shocking a phone that costs $1300 feels like a $70 prepaid phone. I'm glad apple has a generous 14 day return policy though, so don't know when I'll get it back.
I did the same thing when the 14 pro max came out and tried it and I returned.
I've seen $150 motorola budget phones with dimensity chips that are smoother than an iphone because they have 120hz screens now, albiet LCD.
The software is atrocious. I might switch to apple if they put a 120hz always on mode and fix ios 26 completely. For now its unusable for me.

It's pretty obvious the test failed to run properly on the samsung for the GPU test and it just didn't run one of the tests, which is why the score is ~1/2 or less of what it should be, because it literally didn't run half the GPU bench.
Just testing issues, not a lack of performance by samsung.
Unless you genuinely think the SD8 gen 5 scores less than half the GPU score of an SD8 gen 5 OC.

Why would you choose a phone over a tablet? If you're going to get a physical controller to use with it, the the phone being smaller than a tablet doesn't make it more portable because a controller isn't particularly portable, it just seems like you're getting worse thermals, a smaller battery, and a smaller screen for no real benefit

Holy shit, fuck eBay and fuck anyone here who said "just buy it, ebay has good protection"
Bought a NIB Pixel 8Pro to replace my dead 6Pro.
Seller is in China, eBay says Texas, phone shipped from California.
Shit comes in a factory box, sealed, everything looks legit
Phone is an obvious refurb with a S/N and IMEI sticker on the back.
IMEI info says black phone, ordered blue phone.
Phone has scuff marks on the back, and around the internal lens bezel
Installed battery tracking app, nearly 300 charge cycles, battery reduced by 12%
Leave phone fully charged, dropped from 100% to 85% overnight
Return the phone, seller refunds only 50%
Open eBay claim, 15 minutes later I get a full refund (good protection, huh)
Wasted 2 fucking weeks of my time on this shit.
Pic related is probably the same seller selling the same, factory refurbished phones.
eBay wont do shit, my 1 negative review dont do shit either.
I still need a new phone. I cant find a NIB Pixel 8Pro anywhere. I tired FB, Swappa.com, and other reseller websites.
Nothing is NIB, most are (((((good condition)))))
No, I am NOT buying a used phone with scratches on the screen. My phones stay in case and have screen protectors their entire life. I cannot stand scratched screens. I go through 4-6 screen protectors per phone. I replace them as soon as they break or get a scratch.
Guess I'll have to go to a T-Mobile store and see what they offer.
PS im broke and cant afford a new $800 phone.

Damn, 3 years is EoL? fugg... I do like what the VII has to offer but I also want to broadcast my virginity with the platinum silver 1 VI like my current silver 14 Pro Max. Might as well go VII then, probably orchid purple because it's a nice color.

Just checked and they brought back silver for the Xperia 1 VIII, very nice. Don't like the iPhone-esque cameras though, wish they kept them vertical. Jumping from 6gb RAM to 12gb/16gb will also be nice but at most I only really play Honkai Impact 3rd (lightly now, I just wanna see the skins I got in-use.) Any notable use cases for 16gb RAM on a phone? Ultimately this is just for the aesthetics and to leave the Apple ecosystem behind, I'd jump back to Android right now but all I have is an S8+ on standby bought new with a battery life you can imagine from playing trendy mobile and gacha games.

Absolutely right, silver is back so now it's just 12gb vs 16gb.

What part of 'niche' and 'ultra-premium' don't you get? Also Japan equals good. Jokes aside what's the equivalent? Samsung S26 Ultra? Still doing my homework, the 14 Pro Max will join the S8+ when the time comes.

oh yeah is ebay gonna ban this scammer?
i already called them once to report em, and i got another scammer on the line from india telling me i need to wait 7 days for them to respond first.
looking at thier positive reviews its full of morons who bought phones from them thinking they were brand new
years ago you could see the buyers name and message them directly, cant do that now.

I'd be happy to not buy Sony, if only there was a company making a phone with the fundamental characteristics of a Xperia:
>no punchole/notch
>3.5mm jack
>microSD slot
>front facing stereo speakers
>big battery
>good cameras
>clean android with the least amount of bloat out of the box

Aight you got me... wait, what's bokeh?
>looks it up, it's a Japanese term
So it has sovl? Yeah, more of that please. But no, I also noticed the slapped-on "Xperia Intelligence" AI buzzword thing. Shovel-ware aside, anything that's better than a 14 Pro Max is good for me. The biggest counterpoint is the partial compatibility here in the States though this bricked Xperia Z2 was a fun experiment while it lasted before Google dropped support and my slow-ass thought it was a good move to factory reset it. Stuck at trying to connect to the Google Play Store now (tossing this out there IF there's any fix.)
Just kind of tired of Samsung you know? It was my first flagship and I thought it'd be funny to have an iPhone for a while but a few drops later and the zoom above 3x is dead for about a year now. Tried out an S22 Ultra before jumping into the Apple hype train, didn't really feel it, and now I'm stuck with a California-designed Little Tikes phone that can't zoom good anymore so an upgrade is inevitable. If I go Apple again I'd do the 16 Pro Max 'cuz muh titanium and it wouldn't look much different than the current one BUT I wanna go back to Android and if I'm doing that I want something nice.
In short; aesthetics > performance, I don't play gacha as much anymore and even if I do I have a laptop and such. Camera upgrade would be nice too, the only thing stopping from going 100% on the Xperia 1 VIII is the compatibility in the ol' US.

These points too, worth the premium to me.

Not really, although you can check LineageOS supported devices for alternatives. But if you unlock the bootloader (a necessary step for Lineage/Graphene/etc) you end up not being able to use some apps, including some games (like Balatro) and some banking apps. So maybe the Pixel is still the play.

It won't suddenly stop working, it just won't be updated against new exploits which are found often. Which is bad for security.
You could swap to LineageOS and get updated OS software (but not drivers), but it makes theft protection null and void. Any thief can grab your phone, flash it, remove the SIM, and then use/sell the device due to LineageOS requiring an unlocked bootloader. A locked bootloader and theft protection enabled means they MIGHT be able to use it for parts, worst case scenario for the thief is they get a paperweight.

unless you REALLY think you'll be using the same phone for more than 5 years, then the 16gb RAM variant is worth it, if not then it doesn't matters
there's also Switch and PC emulation, they both ask for a lot of RAM if you want to play at high resolutions, if you're into that

Why are alarms so SHIT on iPhones? If it wasn't for my cheap Android that my wife always tells me to replace for an iPhone, we'd never wake up on the right time.
How do I fix this?

iPhone alarm issues were already figured out and the fix is simple. Only lying anons without an actual iPhone post fantasy stories about them magically still not working. skill issue little bro.

Never heard of iodéOS before but it seems just like LineageOS with microG and some firewall.
/e/OS has flaws but I'd run it if (or when) they support my device. It's more of an "ecosystem" replacement. You get Murena services along with the same microG. The launcher is pretty nice albeit barebones, been trying to get it on my phone but can't find a recent build. It also makes GrapheneOS devs seethe so I'm all for it.
