Why do so many trannies play storm? Is it because taking hour-long turns guarantees they'll get attention, or because they're gay for otters, or is just an autistic thing?
>>98148346 >TQ A ton of popular cards for EDH are fucking old, but if we're just talking about interesting or unique ones, then I run and really enjoy Artificial Evolution from Onslaught
>>98148481 >can't be wall Why the fuck have walls always gotten this treatment? Every set there's some bullshit with an added destroy wall or destroy creature with defender for no reason.
>>98148829 Walls were believed to be an important defensive creature in early magic, with walls in every set. They were a staple of design, and had lots of cards that interacted with them positively and negatively. If you try drafting an early set you'll see what's up. They've just fallen out of favor as a card type. You don't need the wall type for defender anymore, which further reduces their number.
Super cute. This guy also did the cute MJ card. Nice to get some comic book artists in for the set, they used to be a staple of MtG but I feel like wizards stopped recruiting new ones for a while.
>>98149728 Acsktually two +1/+1 is 4 stat in total and (repeatable) drawing a card has traditionally costed 4 on creature abilities So the 3 damage is still the odd one out
I wanted to build a Belbe deck when she was released but decided against it since she seemed too degenerate / would run away with the game / make me arch-nemesis.
Is this still the case in today's meta or has the format gotten enough power creep that I could play her without being target number 1?
>>98150151 There are a lot of turn one creatures that damage each opponent, then you drop Belbe turn two and get 6 colorless you can use to drop out huge Eldrazi etc.
>>98150162 Yeah, I get it. That doesn't seem like a huge deal. That's less disgusting than many popular decks. Like I'd be less concerned about this than anyone in the top 29
I told myself I was going to quit Commander, I sold a portion of my cards, and I became a do-nothing home-body for a few months. Well, now I am back to playing Commander again, because going out to the LGS to play was the one social activity I had in my life, and I was lonely kicking around at home.
>>98150695 Some people already rose some stink on twitter, but they are villains, so unless you straight up add a swastika to the characters, they are just wacky, evil nazis.
>>98151074 >can save a player and buy you a momentary ally >can save your own life >doesn't give the same bad vibes are wiping or targeted removal Fog Chads stay winning
Building this guy as storm spellslinger 55 is cool and all but I do think hes got legs as a voltron with the ability to clear a path with the very equipment youll be attaching to em
Yes I will fill my deck with as many japanese alt arts as possible. Yes it is your job to remember what all of them do. It's not on me if you can't understand the cards.
>>98151937 I dont play him as zombie tribal. high toughness creatures. yes you turn them into zombie tokens but you also snitch a lot of stuff from your opponents.
also magic is about attacking with creatures. if you disagree you are GAY!
>>98151945 Before magic was plagued by etb creatures that act like sorceries, the only decent strategy with creatures was mono red aggro M8. Too bad nowadays instants and sorceries got power crept
>guy plays yshtola >free counterspells, tutors for glacial chasm, tutors for cyc rift, bolas citadel, aetherflux >guy plays grixis >free counterspells, tutors for glacial chasm, tutors for agent of treachery and blinks >always wins because he's bracket 4 >bring a bracket 4 >have multiple hexing squelchers >pyroblast his commander, red elemental blast his commander, null elemental blast his commander >vandalblast his mana rocks >opp agent his tutors >'yeah dude.. that wasn't fun'
>Oracle of Erebos >BB >Zombie Cleric >When ~ enters, gain X life, where X is your devotion to black. If X is greater than or equal to your life total, you win the game. >3/1
>>98152541 Could never find the 'nids or Chaos decks in stock anywhere so unfortunately I only got the Necrons and Imperium. Wish I got Ghyrson Starn in surge foil when he was still "only" like $40
>>98152615 I've only ever seen giga shitters complain about him. I'm relieved if I see someone with Ur Dragon in the command zone because I know we're playing honest Timmy magic.
>>98152643 >I've only ever seen giga shitters complain about him. I'm relieved if I see someone with Ur Dragon in the command zone because I know we're playing honest Timmy magic. based. recent years I feel like people having been taking longer and longer turns. not even end the game shit just like do 10 things put counters everywhere non deterministic loops. why is that a fucking thing? just make bracket 2 and 3 have turned into "please watch me durdle for 10 minutes" why put some durdle ass combo in your deck if its not game winning or not a game winning threat?
>>98152615 friend of mine plays it. dont think its super imba level but the thing with Ur dragon players is, that they are usually faggots who run other lame commanders
>play fetchland >mill 1 >crack fetch to search a land >search deck and play land >shuffle >mill 1 >repeat 3 more times every turn Welcome to playing against me!
>>98152876 I might build this guy with tons of howling mine effects and chaos shit like Possibility Storm, Ubu Mask, Confusion in the Ranks, Warp World and other shit like that as well as Apocalypse and Jokulhaups and Decree of Annihilation- in other words pure chaos and nukes. I don't know if it will fun to play once of if it will bring me endless joy. Dillemas, dillemas
>>98152742 >precon commander that draws cards when you play cards >can effectively do anything if you're willing to play higher cmc cards thus playable in every bracket and almost every archetype esper can do >kemomimi She wasn't even particularly popular in xiv until the second half of the games lifespan, she's a larp bait waifu character for people who just jerk off to it
If I have a mana dork or a card that lets me tap a creature for mana, can I pay Perilous Forays cost with the same creature? ie I tap the dork for 1 mana, then sacrifice it.
might be a dumb question but how many mana rocks would you run in a mono blue deck? Every time I play commander and I dont have ramp in any form I feel like Im behind. are 7 or 8 mana rocks too much?
>>98153086 In a vacuum yes. It's pushed Krenko and Myrel, but Krenko is still strong because goblins are a better tribe, and Myrel is still strong because the Grand Abolisher effect is very powerful. Squirrel Girl is strong as an arguably better combo deck than Krenko, but will generally be even more of a one-trick pony, and Myrel can be a more resilient grindy deck.
>buddy who hosts is mentioning CEDH and picked up a deck How do I ruin that gay bracket for him entirely? I want to keep playing my cool tribal decks. Thanks!
>>98152324 The Wakanda deck sounded interesting but looks boring >monarch This isn't a fun mechanic to base your entire gameplan around >selesnya artifacts Neat idea but the deck is going to need a lot of unique support not currently found in those colors.
Does anyone have an issue with getting combomogged by assholes at the LGS? There's one guy at my LGS. Balding and looks 50 years old. Doesn't even play Commander. He shows up every week with a bag lunch and plays YGO on his laptop all day. Has two YGO decks that he brings out if anyone asks to play against him, but otherwise he's just in the corner all day. He has the same table basically reserved for him every week. The thing is that the store seems to treat him like some sort of sage. People will show him their Commander decks and he'll basically give a thesis statement on why it's shit after only 5 minutes of looking at it, then he'll spend the next 5 minutes writing down every card you should remove and what it should be replaced with. This dude can't be impressed at all. I tried showing him my cEDH Kinnan deck and he told me to cut Thoracle from it and replace it with Valley Floodcaller (even though I told him my deck doesn't have any other otters). He then tried to give me some lecture that everyone else believed about how it combos with another card in my deck or something but I don't see how that's better than winning the game. I tried inviting him to a game, but he kept resisting saying that he's not interested in Commander. Eventually he agreed and I managed to secretly convince everyone else to gang up on him so that we could beat him (and show him the consequences of him being an asshole to everyone else when he talks out of his ass saying their decks are bad), but he just played some comboslop and won with Lathliss after playing a billion counterspells. I told him his deck was lame and we all agreed, then he mumbled some shit about this being why he doesn't like Commander. Is there a way to get people like him kicked out of the LGS? I don't see him every buying anything so I think it would be easy to get the store owner on my side.
>>98151195 remember when this card was released and pauper tron decks used it and Mnemonic Wall and Ghostly Flicker to grind the game to a complete halt? good times
You know what really grinds my gears? Table hoarders. The table sits exactly 4 people for a pod. When you sit your ass down at one just to sit there and fuck around with your warhammer models or read a book, you are taking up an ENTIRE FUCKING SPACE for four people. The worst are the ones who literally lie to you about it >I have people coming! >3 hours later they are still sitting there reading a book like it is Barnes and noble or some shit
>>98153283 Isn't that just kinda gonna waste everybody's time?
I'm new to commander, but I've played about 10 games this week against a big mix of opponents between bracket 2 and 4. The biggest thing I've learned is that incredibly slow and autistic turns are fucking stupid and they're extra gay when they don't even win the game.
Generate value, build your board state, assemble your engine, and combo off, but don't make me watch you agonize over 20+ minutes of triggers that don't even kill anyone.
I would much rather die quickly to a combo that is way too strong and reliable for the table than watch some retard play solitaire all night.
>>98154115 its a juggle, I would say as you improve you dont need to rely on infinites to get your wins so the difference between a dude assembling exodia for 10 min on his own turn to get the rest of the table to shuffle up after an hour of playtime and the equally as annoying turn 2 splitter twin combo getting the table to scoop after 3 min of game time as you improve and as you pick up on win conditions and cleaner play you dont have to rely on going infinite some way to get your wins you can do either more involved combos, burns, combat, I win cards, etc which are much more interesting and less overplayed than the usual suspects
but thats further along in your MTG career for now you can enjoy thinking up all the possible infinites you can its part of the fun, tooth n nail, palinchron, dead eye navigator was my first and then I realized green is way too strong of a color to ever mix with blue
>>98154125 >Choose creature to sac, then flicker to dodge sac
No. You could flicker to avoid a targeted sac, but the "choosing" happens during the resolution of the sac spell (or ability), so you can't flicker mid-resolution
>>98153821 its only what $35? my big break down was paying $50 for a beat up revised D Toot
and yeah tithe IS that good you'll be able to play everything you got if no one pays the 1. I play Leyline of Singularity in all decks capable just to counter this (and token swarms)
>>98154341 NTA but slapping that on Alexios is a pretty good political move. Kills some of the heat of having played it. But you can't run it if he's your commander and having both in the 99 is pretty inconsistent.
>>98154427 moderate draft environment, commander players are happy. rotating format players are going to kill themselves and eternal format players are just going to pick the bits they care about and thats it.
>>98154471 Not me. I have one (1) landfall trigger in my mono-green stompy deck and I think one (1) etb. I am going to beat you to death with trees and you are going to like it.
>>98154488 id say theyre a sidegrade to verge lands, maybe slightly better since you can get turn 1 and 2 plays off them where verge lands will come in tapped too early
I enjoy a lot of green stuff, but landfall is cancer. I have been playing and tweaking a mostly-plants naya deck and I specifically left out Bristly Bill and Avenger of Zendikar because I'm not a faggot.
>>98154375 Where are you seeing these colors bud? >>98154395 Honestly a couple of them don't look too bad. >>98154498 I just like more duals that tap for colorless. That's awesome.
>>98154675 that card needs to be banned based on the art. like in 2020 when they banned raciss cards, they need to do another round of ones that show womyn with anything larger than B cups for equity reasons
>>98154366 You dont need them. At this point theres more than plenty of good dual options available. These are fine but suffer if youre the kind of card running 6 basics in a 3 color deck. The mark of a top tier dual will always be a basic land type
This set is mechanically better than Spider Man. Already we have several Timmy commanders and lots of varied goodstuff for different decks. As awful as capeshit is visually what's been spoiled so far at least has some fun cards. Spider Man had fucking nothing and was garbage in every regard.
>>98154755 Only gigafans are paying attention to it right now. Once people start playing with the cards the actual general consensus will be formed and then become apparent.
>>98154818 Speaking of The Master, been wanting to try and make pic rel work since he came out but keep getting stuck. Yes it's because Daemons is one of my favorite serials.
>>98154700 well I know I dont NEED them because I have realistic proxies of badlands, underground sea and volcanic island, plus the real cards of fetches and the pain lands and run 7 islands 6 swamps and 2 mountains and haven't had any real issues
>>98154889 meant to say shock lands but I do have sulfur falls and underground river pain lands plus the dr Who Drowned Catacomb and picking up Morphic Pool this week. but I run at least 12 basics out of 36 (count was lower than I thought 6, 4, 2).
>>98154366 They need this set to do well to justify the presence of UB and they are so transparent with it that it's embarrassing. Putting out some of the best duals printed in recent time is blatant scalperbait to inflate sales
>>98154904 I got this device at my local Renn Faire. It's kind of over the top but at the same time it's well designed. It keeps track of life total, commander damage and storm count.
>>98154897 they've been making new duals every set for the last few years, if they wanted the marvel sets to do well then how come every infinity stone is doodoo ass?
>>98154906 I dont either but im getting back into magic and some of the red blue or black shit I need for my main deck since getting back in is crazy. deflecting swat, fierce guardianship. ill pick these up in paper but until then a $2 proxy is what im doing
but I definitely agree. but for me really $60 for force of will, $50 for demonic tutor thats the max im comfortable with really
>>98154766 the funniest thing about spiderman is that websling is a workable mechanic but they could've named it literally anything better, but we'll probably see it just as much as mayhem somehow because there's no way they're going to print it en mass alongside connive in the same set
>>98155038 But I'm wondering why Sefris sees Abdel go into the graveyard. It's as if there's a brief window where Abdel leaves the battlefield, Sefris returns, and Abdel lands in the graveyard.
Voltron bullshit and combos are both necessary to prevent infinite stall trash. Combos are never an issue unless they take forever because the player either doesn't know how the fuck their own combo works or they pause every two seconds to wax poetic about how fucking sick and unique their fucking ENGINE is.
Ending games is good. Commander players need a clock because otherwise they'll spend the next 3 hours making truly retarded numbers of tokens.
>>98154907 That looks very nice! I was thinking of making a little commander cockpit thingy for my group once I manage to wrap up my current 3d printed deckbox project. Would be even better if I could get four that link up around an ipad lifecounter. Imagine a bit bigger than that though.
>>98155057 >dude what if we jerked each other off for three hours building our boards while everyone has to watch! nta but you're so naive you can't even understand why you're worse.
>>98155059 No, the point is 'infinite' dungeon triggers as well as infinite 1/1s. You can also get the same result by exiling Sefris every other instance of the loop, but for some reason Forge isn't requiring me to jump through that hoop and I'm not sure if it's a programming error or what.
>>98155057 This isn't a cEDH problem. It's a bracket 2-3 problem. Bracket 1 is great for hanging out and showing off as many cards in your deck as possible. Bracket 2-3 is a bunch of people playing real cards poorly, generating unnecessary value, and never actually taking real swings due to a combination of cowardice and autism.
These brackets could be fun if they were about people trying to win with cool and unique decks that they built with intentional limitations, but in practice, it's just lots of long turns that never actually kill anyone.
>>98155118 Just run basic interaction and save it for when you need it, especially if you know you're playing against a combo deck that can go off at any time. In other words, get better at deck building and learn to think strategically and use your brain. If you hate combo decks, build decks that shut down combos and kill them.
Have you guys seen the “Pride commander” thing going around that’s an excuse to break the partner rule by letting you have two commanders of whatever you want? It seems like the gayest larp intended to skirt the rules.
>>98155223 nigga this is a thing every year and every year this thread comes up with the most fucked up pairings to show their disdain for the lgbtq+ community
>>98155223 I've seen it on here before yes. I would make it a hetero couple. As times goes on basically all the legendaries are faggots but idgaf 90% of people aren't gay it's the opposite. https://vocaroo.com/1ddcdWq8OGQu
>>98151986 Originally she was just a big tiddy power girl like, but they decided 2 decades ago to make her a pro-feminism stronk lady instead. I think it's fine for her. It's not fine for shehulk
Flash Flying Wasp Sting - When Wondrous Wasp enters the battlefield, target up to one creature. Tap it. For as long as Wondrous Wasp remains on the battlefield, that creature loses all abilities.
I think I want to see legendary hate become a big thing in 2027. Like I want to wake up in the morning and learn that there are six new cards and eighteen new combos that make playing legendary cards a liability.
>>98148346 There are lots of stables outaide of sol ring that as old as fuck Swords to Plowshares was in Alpha. Outside of those, though, part of my black removal suite is pretty bloody old.
>>98153751 Because strategy card games are a male hobby, especially common for people with mental disorders as it allows both hyperfocus and stimming, which also being a social lubricant. There are magnitudes more trannies into mtg than women, just think about that for a second, that a demographic that makes up <1% of the population is a larger part pf this hobby than a demographic that makes up ~50% of the population. And people say gendered hpbbies don't exist.
Pay 2 life: Copy target activated or triggered ability you control from an artifact source. You may choose new targets for the copy. Activate only once each turn and only on your turn. (Mana abilities can't be targeted.)
"A weapon to kill a god? Of course, A.I.M. can do it. If we have the money, that is."
I kind of want that promo Gilded Lotus but I already have a foil Gilded Lotus from Foundations that cost I think a whopping $2. hate the fag shit so I'd prefer to not engage with it at all
>>98156091 I almost added ashes and ashes to a random order of some singles I needed. 3 mana to kill 2 non black seems ok actually. I prefer forcing a sac or if it's targeted, exile. I use this as a Swiss army knife in my red blue black deck
>>98156372 they need 5 cards in hand to match seething song and 6 to do better than it. by turn 2 or 3 when most people might play a 3 mana spell I feel like people's hands are typically the smallest. I dunno. maybe I should give it another shot
>>98156351 This is a dumb take. Jeska's win is better because it also pseudo draws cards, so looping and copying it does alot more for you than just looping seething song does.
>https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/announcements/marvel-super-heroes-delays-in-select-regions >worldwide delays Has WotC maybe considered slowing the fuck down?
>>98154983 they've been making new duals every set, but not good ones, just compare these to the 8-lands from SoS. As for the stones, they are decent mana rocks, but they're nothing special. The concentration of extremely pushed legendary creatures, on the other hand, is insane. Again, compare the fucking squirrel girl or thor to anything released in spiderman or even tmnt and you'll see what I mean
