>Frankenhooker's initial release was delayed because of difficulty obtaining an R rating from the Motion Picture Association; the director recalls that one representative of the ratings body actually said, in a phone call to the production company's secretary, "Congratulations, you're the first film rated S." And she said, "S? For sex?" And they said, "No, S for shit."[3]

Hokum was good overall, and I liked the final third of it a lot. I do think it has too many jump scares, though (which didn't even work since they felt predictable and the images weren't spooky enough). I thought McCarthy was above the trauma horror trend too, but he decided to go that route with this one.
I think Caveat did a better job of being generally creepy and atmospheric. Oddity was fine too, but I rank them: Caveat > Hokum > Oddity
Hokum could have beaten Caveat for me if it leaned more into its Halloween setting, but it was very reserved about it

Just finished The Fairfield County Four. Felt like someone saw Frogman, wanted to do something similar with a werewolf, then realized they only had the budget for the werewolf suit and the camera. Only real highlight is the werewolf design reminded me of the one from Late Phases

i enjoyed it enough, has never heard of this director before but after being extremely underwhelmed by fnaf 2 and scream 7 being super cheap and like not scary at all...like ik thats to be expected but like it was nice to see an actually good horror flick in theaters again. id give it an A for adam scott, at least. (who was the initial draw-in for me since i crushed on him in parks & rec)
for me the last third or so was actually where it kinda fell apart i feel like the horror peaked in the middleish. like if you're reading this, spoiler alert obviously but why is the final act villain the blandest dude in the movie, why burn down the entire hotel, how is alby supposedly lifting magic mushrooms off jerry when they never talked to spike adams whiskey which he doesnt drink until weeks later? witch was also giving kind of conjuring basic.
but like i did give this an A so there was a lot of good! totally love the cinematography like showing off how pretty ireland is and kinda gave the shining vibes which was probs intentional. the witch was also like not as scary at the end, but it was kinda sick when she started scaling the elevator shaft. now, i dont know why these horror movies that use childrens entertainment as a side plot rather than the main focus always do it so much better like seriously take notes here fnaf cause that cutesy kiddy shit was not scary at all. but jack the jackass is scary looking, and the buildup with his cartoon self appearing in the memento box was great foreshadowing that i totally caught onto and anticipated after that jordan peele movie with the monkey incident. it was like a horror filter that actually worked, and then theres a part where jack or fionas shadow is seen in another room as well but idk i kinda wish they went more down this route in the last third. fiona part was also kino for a similar reason reminded me of scrolling over the silent hill icon with that creepy bunny on my dads ps2 and that stp video

There's a version of it on youtube, but the audio quality of it isn't great. I have the blu-ray of Hangover Square, which has a higher quality version of it (still some pops and crackles from age, but much clearer). If people are interested, I could try to rip it and upload it somewhere. I recommend seeing the movie first though, as the radio version really rushes through the story and I think is designed more for people who have seen the film
>>
Dolly 2026 was such a fucking bizarre movie. There’s some fun gore here and there but it’s just so all over the place with some weird art house shots near the end and a story that raises more questions than answers. Definitely seems to be some paranormal elements going on with how the killer just shrugs off multiple wounds but it never goes through with subplots it tries to explore. Shudder still can throw some good exclusives here and there like The Sadness and VHS Beyond and Halloween, but this and Bodycam feel like misses.
>>220411042
That one was fun, truly felt like a bizarre fairy tale.
>>
>>220410429
Yep I liked it too. There was the trauma thing but idk, it didn't feel so perverse and depressing like most of the trauma horror does, i don't feel like spoilering so I'll leave it at that.
It really feels like a run of the mill, familiar horror movie. But it was done competently, and it looked pretty nice for a modern movie. I'll take it. Not everyone needs to be pushing the envelope, that gets kind of exhausting to me as a viewer. I need my comforts.

> totally love the cinematography like showing off how pretty ireland is and kinda gave the shining vibes which was probs intentional.
I thought the same thing from the part where it shows him driving through the Irish countryside, and then of course at the hotel itself.
I was also reminded of Tobe Hooper's version of The Toolbox Murders, with the hotel with hidden rooms conspiracy aspect

are you just intimidated by a strong black kween
problem is it's just a style over substance comic book action movie with a horror twist except the director has no style and no ideas besides ripping off tarantino but it takes 20 minutes to get going then he only really nails tarantino style for a pretty cool 5 minutes action scene at the 20th minute (it's in the trailer so if you've seen it you've seen the only good part) followed by some decent raimesque horror gags, then it stylistically runs out of steam halfway through, gets bogged down in plot and dialogues and a couple of boring fights, and the writing is dogshit so without the style and without proper stakes it's dreadfully boring
she's fun though and tries hard to carry it, she deserved a better movie

Dewey died because they needed to show they could kill the old guard, which is a shame since he and Gale together are the best parts of the earlier films. While they won't do it again, they can pretend they will.
Now I need them to show they will kill the new recurring characters. One of the twins needs to die next time, one of them shouldn't have even survived in 6 if they really wanted to be like 2.
>>
>>
>>
>>220414946
100%, with the other two being fired and walking away they shouldn't have been kept in, just set them aside for another film or cameo down the line where it makes more sense.
I've no hope for 8 at all, imagine giving your franchise to the people who wrote the canned Buffy reboot.
>>
>>220414867
yeah it's 1 step forward 1 step back
dewey (or gale) should have died in 4, 5 was too late but a decent send off anyway
gale and one of the twins should have died in 6 but at least they addressed gale having post stabbing issues
4 is horrible for how the 3 legacy characters bloat up the cast and runtime while it's obvious they have plot armor, despite the whole thing of 4 being that it was supposedly about a new generation
it's just the hollywood mental illness that affects all franchises, this refusal to let go and kill off the old guards, either for nostalgia or for contractual reasons
neve getting low balled and refusing to do 6 was the best thing to have happened in the recent entries and why 6 kinda stands out (but then they do the dumb shit of bringing back hayden instead, she was the best girl in 4 but her acting and new role is horrible in 6, and male twin surviving is so retarded)
williamson stopped caring and is now treating it like a cash cow too anyway, like supposedly he wanted to kill neve in 4 to make the jill ending actually meaningful but he/wes/studio pussied out
killing randy in 2 was the correct choice but he's since then said he regretted it because it was his meta self insert and that's why they won't kill the twins either
they'll likely never kill gale either because neve is being a cunt about salary while cox is fine with lower offers due to her being horribly bogged no one else will hire her anymore
7 was shit because you knew neve had plot armor but so did her husband and daughter because they know they made her suffer too much already but so the stakes of the whole premise collapses
>>
>>
>>220415202
Yeah, are scared of losing old fans if they kill off the rest of the original cast, so they are stuck with characters they can't do much with, and because they can't let go of them they don't have room to properly establish the new blood. Much as I love Neve, one part I liked about 6 was that she stayed out of it and gave the new cast a little breathing room.
I'm worried the twins are basically immortal as the sole remaining members of the 5-6 group now that we missed the chance to off one in 6.
Scream 11 will be in Gale and Sydney's nursing home where one of them has dementia and is constantly going back to their many close calls with Ghostface, while the other becomes convinced that a new Ghostface is indeed roaming the halls and planning to kill them.

Watching the trailer for Evil Dead Burn got me wanting to rewatch the OG trilogy again (plus I never watched S3 of AvED), so I started watching the original last night, then got a wild hair up my ass, and decided to cut 1, 2, and Army of Darkness together into one super-movie.
I’m sure cuts like that already exist, it’s such an obvious thing after all, but I’ve never come across it, so I decided to do it myself.

Rundown of what I watched this morning:
>Send Help
Honestly, I liked it enough. Yeah, I'll get shit for saying that, but I don't care. My three main complaints is it needed more horror scenes, the animal CGI was bad, and the reveal is really fucking predictable.
>Blood Barn
3.5/10 movie, it's really boring. Just getting past the first 28 minutes is a chore.
>The Midnight Game
Not bad, but still slightly below average at a 4-4.5/10. It's predictable, no scares or gore, and maybe half a second of nudity. Had potential, but wouldn't recommend it.

>shitty recent trilogy
To this day, I don't know how people can consider the recent trilogy "shitty", especially compared to garbage like 5, 6, Resurrection, and the Rob Zombie movies (though there are things here-and-there that I like about the Zombie movies).
I personally liked the idea in the DGG trilogy that Michael's body was just getting too old for the "evil" force inside him to sustain him anymore, and it was seeking out a new host, and how Haddonfield itself had almost a Derry kind of thing going on, where the whole town was being subtly affected by it.

>EVIL DIES TONIGHT
I really fell like that was all a bit overblown by RLM, and I didn't hate what they were going for, but yeah, the execuation could have been better.
I did like how Laurie was trying to go boss bitch, and everyone just told her to get over herself, and how it's not all about her.
I think that people's enjoyment of Ends really depends on how much they sympathize with Cory, and maybe it's just because I was a depressed fuck around the time that came out, but I really felt what he was going through in that movie, where some shit that's completely out of your control can completely upend your life like that. I also liked that, for once, everybody got to have a relatively happy ending, though I found H20's closure to the series much more satisfying, hence why Resurrection pisses me off as much as it does.
>>
>>220427589
didn't know it originated from RLM, honestly I thought the line was good it just makes me laugh.
they should have kept Laurie unconscious in the hospital, she just annoyed the piss out of me in Kills.
Ends is probably only ironically enjoyable for Corey. though I did like the idea of sewer Michael eating rats for years like a TMNT

>main female teacher beats him with a huge stick like she got fighting moves and throws him to the floor by the balls
>cops and black schoon principal arrive
>main bully literally calls the principal a nigger
And so far all the women have been pretty natural beauties
It truly was a different time

Only people who hate on the Rob Zombie's Halloween movies are those who find them "too edgy"
>>220427148
Freddy has a pathetic body count overall when you compare him to other horror villains, even Leprechaun killed at least 4 people per movie, never just 3 or 1

>>220428013
Most people I see complaining about Rob Zombie's Halloween online do so because the movie has too much nudity and shit like that

>I feel like they have to personally kill them.
Do guns count in that case? like Ghostface shooting random people inside a mini-market in Scream 6

I really wish that Netherrealm would put Mortal Kombat on ice for a while, and just make a horror character fighting game. Jason, Freddy, Pinhead, Leatherface, all that. While we still have guys like Doug Bradley and Robert Englund around. The Crypt Keeper could be the announcer.

Watching it now, great Renny Harlin, budget Fincher shlock. They don't make movies like that anymore, like his shark kino. It's so over produced. Christie for Bruckheimer dude bros, like Identity but even dumber and flashier. Nonsensical editing, camera is always moving. Sweet spot between a MTV video and a boomer CBS CSI re-run. Script is obviously "movie about smart people but written by and for retards" and that's why it's kino.

History of the Occult is one of the more underrated films of the decade. It's in spanish so gets overlooked.
I hereby recommend everyone check it out.

The Believers
Scanners
Videodrome
The Cabin In The Woods
The Omen series
Parts: The Clonus Horror
The Empty Man
If you count small-town conspiracies then The Stepford Wives and sequels/remake among others.
I don't know if you'd count Invasion Of The Body Snatchers or not.
Same for Halloween III: Season Of The Witch.

Just finished. Accidentally chose in line with the OP. I'd never even heard of this until I stumbled upon it on YouTube, and only chose it because of the poster and title, totally blind otherwise. A crotchety blind mother and her adult caretaker daughter live in a decaying mansion and hire a young drifter to be a handyman. Of course, he turns out tobe a serial killer. He got (heterosexually) raped as a boy by a gang of gypsy women, so now when he meets a girl who turns him on, he rapes and murders them. He's following the path of a highway being built and buries his victims on it right before they pave the ground over. Ingenious! He even has his motorcycle specially set up with straps so that it looks like their corpses are just riding on the back of his bike with him. This is SLOW, and plays more like a melodrama with murder at the center of it. It's very bloodless and doesn't show much. It's an interesting one time watch, but I can see why it's so obscure, because it would bore most people to death. It was written by Roald Dahl and scored by Bernard Herrmann!

That's the human bot Gadon/Fixfag. His samefagging is very obvious yet he's the only poster here that ever seems to get regularly banned (today's purge is an exception). It's basically a testament to how shitty he is.
