I have 3 pumpkin beers left from last October. Should I save them for the coming October or enjoy them now as a halfway celebration? I'm thinking of marathoning the first season of Tales from the Crypt, and one of them with some Reese's cups and Butterfingers would hit the spot.
>>220494064 I was saying the other day we need a halfway to Halloween celebration. Like, ghost day or something. Anyway yes, in fact I'm gonna have a drink too.
>>220494064 >Should I save them for the coming October >4 and a hlf months from now Nah, drink them while watching kinos. Don't want them to potentially go bad on you either. I wish I had some pumpkin beers to drink. Yesterday was cool, wet and dark.
>>220494865 Seems like a paradox in media, both movies and games, people desire more realistic art but it inevitably gets more boring as we develop the tech for it.
>>220494840 Heh. Scored an unopened screwtop bottle of 10 year old chardonnay somebody threw out last week. I'm curious if it's drinkable or it's a Grey Matter situation.
>>220500509 I heard it's mostly just the main female acting schizo as opposed to killing a lot of people which made me disappointed, I'll still see it anyways
>>220500189 >probably phrased the question like a mongoloid I typed it as I phrased it here: >horror movies with heads on sticks in a jungle with fire then on another attempt I tried setting it up with a contextual question to confirm that I'm looking for movie recommendations but still no dice. It was in the middle of giving me some okay recs but nothing surprising before it borked.
If you enjoy sweaty young attractive females dancing, getting naked and (sometimes) getting killed, Lucio Fulci's Murder-Rock: Dancing Death is the film for you
>>220501104 I asked it >can you recommend me some horror movies that feature heads on sticks in a jungle with fire? And it came back with >Yeah — that image immediately points toward cannibal / jungle exploitation horror, especially late-’70s/early-’80s Italian stuff. A lot of these have jungle villages, torches, impaled skulls/heads, fire pits, and grimy “forbidden tribe” imagery.
>My best matches:
>The Green Inferno — 2013
>Probably the most modern, accessible version of what you’re describing. College activists crash in the Amazon and run into a cannibal tribe. Lots of jungle captivity, firelight, tribal village imagery, and Eli Roth doing a throwback to the Italian cannibal cycle. It was specifically inspired by Cannibal Holocaust.
>Cannibal Holocaust — 1980
>The obvious big one. An anthropologist searches the Amazon for a missing documentary crew who were filming cannibal tribes. It’s infamous, ugly, and influential, with that exact “jungle atrocity footage” vibe. Big warning: it includes real animal killings, which is a dealbreaker for a lot of people.
>Cannibal Ferox / Make Them Die Slowly — 1981
>Another prime candidate. People enter the Colombian rainforest trying to disprove cannibalism and, naturally, things go very badly. If you want heads-on-stakes, fire, jungle tribe, “video nasty” exploitation energy, this is right in the zone. Also has real animal cruelty, unfortunately.
>Also by Ruggero Deodato, before Cannibal Holocaust. Oil prospectors end up stranded around Mindanao and encounter a cannibal tribe. This is more primitive jungle-survival horror, but still has that grim tribal-camp atmosphere.
>Slave of the Cannibal God / Mountain of the Cannibal God — 1978
>A woman searches the jungles of New Guinea for her missing anthropologist husband and runs into cannibals. More adventure-horror/exploitation than pure horror, but visually it fits the “jungle shrine / fire / sacrifice / severed-head decor” mood.
>Eaten Alive! — 1980
>Umberto Lenzi again. Not as iconic as Cannibal Ferox, but it mixes jungle cult horror, cannibals, exploitation sleaze, and violent village imagery. Good pick if you want more of the same after the big titles.
>The Emerald Forest — 1985
>Not horror, and not really cannibal exploitation, but it has dense jungle, tribal warfare, firelit imagery, and darker adventure elements. Much less nasty than the above.
>My strongest guess for the exact vibe you mean is The Green Inferno if it looked newer, or Cannibal Holocaust / Cannibal Ferox if it looked like grainy old exploitation.
Why they didn't actually bring back Stu for real in Scream 7? I get the feeling people would hate that movie less if that was the case he was alive in the original script for Scream 3 before they had to change it to be less violent after the Columbine shootings, they changed the script so late that they went as far as to have Matthew Lillard sign a contract and paid him, only other similar case I can think about was Batman Returns where they paid that guy to play Robin only for them to remove him from the final script
>>220503186 So it really is just the main girl schizoing it out for the rest of the movie? Well, a least there's a supernatural reason for her to schizo out rather than all those "women going insane because they're literally mentally ill" like Stopmotion etc. I guess...
>>220503340 Pretty much, her going crazy and others' reactions to it. In terms of the wish granting, we see another character using it very briefly. Still there is enough ambiguity for reviewers to jizz over it with relationship analysis.
>>220502018 How would you rank Fulci's filmography? I've seen and enjoyed the following: >The House of Clocks >New York Ripper >Don't Torture a Duckling
>>220503405 I love movies where the characters are histrionic like John Waters' stuff, so I really enjoyed it https://youtu.be/mc3QsZHu5SI The main dude acted exactly like Dave Franco, lol
>>220503435 Difficult to rank Fulci for me. But I really like City of the Living Dead (I prefer this one to The Beyond and House by the Cemetery) and Aenigma which is basically Fulci's kinda goofy take on Carrie. Zombi of course is a classic. I haven't seen House of Clocks.
>>220503672 >Aenigma which is basically Fulci's kinda goofy take on Carrie. The Carrie angle he was going for definitely worked toward the film's benefit.
>>220504390 No telling. The tranny behind it is a "lesbian" so he's still into women. >>220504036 Obviously it'll get reviews, not liking it would be a hate crime.
I Saw the TV Glow is in the top 5 worst movies I've ever seen but I'm still cautiously optimistic about Miasma. He picked more or less my absolute favorite setting for a movie for it, cheater.
>>220496214 >Someone posted a webm Probably me. I enjoyed it. It has that gritty 70s/80s NYC feel like Wolfen, Basket Case and others. >>220497909 The second film has nothing to do with the first, of course. Pure comedy horror like Return of the Killer Tomatoes. I did enjoy this swimsuit scene though. Was not expected.
>>220504036 >the spear-armed Little Death is the vengeful spirit of a drowned former sleepaway camper. Once teased for their transness, Little Death is now eternally doomed to the bottom of the lake at Camp Tivoli when not seasonally resurfacing to kill horny teenagers
>>220505210 He couldn't bother coming up with a different plot from F13 at least? This is just tranny Jason (which is already what Leatherface is.) Good. I was afraid this wouldn't be shit but I had nothing to worry about.
>>220503602 >>220503672 >>220503676 >>220504325 Thank you. I was looking into his films because I was on a Giallo kick. I'm more into the mystery aspect of the stories than the pure horror so I avoided Zombi and other ones that sounded explicitly supernatural with no whodunnit or mystery plot aspect. >>220504330 House of Clocks is interesting. Not what I expected but feels kind of like an old Roger Corman style flick but more gruesome. Kind of reminded me of Your Vice Is A Locked Room by Martino.
>>220505322 The first season is excellent and an adaptation of a pretty good book by one of the most versatile authors around right now. The second was a completely original work and sucked balls. I also did not know a third season existed.
>>220505411 The thing with Fulci movies is a lot of them are like 90% atmosphere and 10% plot. So in the case of City of the Living Dead, it's basically an hour and a half of supernatural horror vibes. Not sure if you'd like it but if you watch it I'd be curious to hear what you think. Have you seen Torso? That's one of my favorites.
>>220505457 >>220505322 first season is a book adaptation of a book with the same name second season was its own thing and now this third season is another book adaptation spearheaded by the author of the same book, they're probably reusing the show title for recognizable ip based on the premise the third season seems to be in a similar vein to AHS asylum only more supernatural
>>220493686 There are some good concepts in this movie but overall it's retarded. The scene where he's dealing with his OCD, the intermission monologues, the entire ending sequence, all great. Him dragging that woman all the way home with no one stopping him and he gets away with it because it fucking rained. Him hunting his family one by one with the horrific CGI. The bit where the journey through hell is depicted with modern recreations of classic paintings. All retarded.
>Torso They tried to adapt Bendis' Torso multiple times, but nothing was ultimately done Netflix's supposedly doing something with the IP now but we'll see Elliot Ness and Hoovervilles, could be good
>>220507459 Yes, her main problem is wanting to look like a legit skeleton when at 40s+ that just transforms you into the Crypt Keeper female wise She's ready for a body horror main role thoughbeit
>>220507515 >>220507531 >>220507561 The face surgery is the worst part. The thinness is a result of medical issues and depression she explained on Instagram.
>>220507814 Every female is depressed. It comes with turn 25 and losing your looks, values and sense of wellbeing. No girl over 30 has the glowing bright eyes that 18 year old girls have.
>>220508322 > This is different some family member she was close too died and right around the same she had a near death experice or something. That was all in her head.
>>220509207 I haven't watched it since I was a kid. From what I remember - everyone is dubbed, a child murderer becomes the master zombie for some reason, there's a long-winded series of prologues, and events from one year prior are referred to as "a LONG time ago" as if something changed in editing.
>>220507377 I'm happy about the cleavage, but why not just put Alice in a bikini? That would've elevated this to a must-watch instead a watch-when-I-get-around-to-it.
>>220493686 Have ya'll seen Widow's bay? Just binged the 4 episodes that are out and looks very promising, like a far superior From, it's got a bit of everything thus far, one episode was reminiscent of one of my favorite horror movies 1408, there's all manners of psychological bum buggery happening to people and mysteries are being revealed through showing, not telling.
IMDB score currently at above an 8 which is very strong for a horror series, the comedy also feels organic and rooted and there's a decent amount of it.
>>220509979 I've watched up to EP03 so far but have been annoyed by how the spooks have all been goosebumps tier, nobody dies, nothing happens At least FROM for all its ills has people dying graphically every now and then
>>220509979 I finished episode 1 - 3 and I haven’t seen the new episode yet. I am enjoying it so far. >>220510449 I will never watch a show with a black man character
>>220508322 In that case I'm hopeful for her to have a recovery. But her face was always a 10/10 and she's ruined it. I don't know if there's any coming back from that.
>>220505471 Looking back, this and Pulse were so laughable. >oooo magic death website >oooo ghosts live on the internet o algo At least the Ring had Sadako as an evil entity before the technology entered the picture rather than just "magic evil VHS".
>>220512569 hey that's the movie that inspired me to ask this question >>220512626 I'm not going to overdose on benadryl but I will take your film suggestion.
>>220512729 I should have mentioned that it's quite funny. It doesn't really lean into horror until about halfway through. Most of the movie is just tv commercials and news broadcasts which tell a story which is pretty simple to follow. It's not cryptic like an analog horror series.
>>220512718 Yeah man. I had some wild dreams when I watched Antrum and I've been chasing that since.
>>220512750 It's one of my favourite movies of the 2010s. Actually one other I'd recommend is YellowBrickRoad. They're both innawoods daytime style horror.
>>220512439 Bitches put make up on and think that’s reality. Fucking delusional. Fuck the simps too. A man’s face is his autobiography. A woman’s face is her work of fiction.
>>220505411 >I'm more into the mystery aspect of the stories than the pure horror Maybe Argento is more up your alley? Profondo Rosso was honestly one of the best movies I've seen in the past couple years for that. Fulci seems to be more surrealist grungy body horror.
>>220507990 He never looks like the right during the entire movie, it's like all the original Nightmare posters depicting Freddy as some half skeleton.
>>220512682 >>220512865 Okay, I can now give my review. It's shit. I didn't laugh once, nor was I spooked once. The weird AI filter is extremely ugly, and never relents. My time was wasted.
>>220507355 Just watched 47 Meters and it's probably the worst I've seen. >Jaws >Deep Blue Sea >Jaws 3d >Thrash >The Shallows >Jaws 2 >Shark Tale >Jaws The Revengeance >47 Meters Am I missing out on any shark kino here or is most of it just slop? Was going to watch the Paris catacombs one tonight too but gf got sleepy Favorite sharks in order: thresher, short mako, white tip reef, tiger, bull, everything else
>>220514011 I thought it was ok, I've heard the sequel was better but haven't seen it myself. Paris one is half slop, it's a shame because they set up a great shark film and have some cool kills but the plot is antagonizingly stupid. There's gonna be a sequel though so you might find it worth watching for that reason.
>>220514011 >>220514029 I forgot to mention Ninja vs Shark which is still above Jaws 2 for entertainment value. I suppose I should say that I can still enjoy bad movies, I just don't want to waste time on shark movies that are actually just boring
>>220514094 Also also forgot that one movie about the Australian serial killer that feeds people to sharks called Dangerous Animals, that one was pretty good and ranks above Thrash. >>220514096 Name a more horrifying Will Smith movie, I'll wait
>>220511422 >nstead of making 20 terrible shark movies a year they need to make 1 good one. Too bad the Jaws series petered out. Since The Shallows pulled the killer animal genre out of the depths of Sharknado parody garbage I really haven't heard of any of these being overly terrible.
It's like our current basement of quality is higher than the ceiling between 2008 & 2015-ish.
2007 was a shockingly good year with 3 fully great Croc films (Rogue, Primeval, Black Water) but then things plummeted.
>>220515082 no i mean the movie is aids because someone recommend it to someone that recommended it to someone etc that recommended it to me and now im the one stuck with it but its a shit boring gay movie
Just finished. Except for its best couple of scenes, it lifts the plot of Jaws directly and just transplants to Paris. Cop and Scientist team up against rogue shark the Mayor wants to downplay because of a big tourism event coming up, blah blah blah. So much filler, and the characters are intention annoying so you'll cheer when they die, but we have to wait almost an hour before we get to that point. The new stuff it brings to the table is fun and ridiculous, but still feels like the movie pulls its punches. Missed opportunity imo but I look forward to the sequel, the scenario they set up for it is insane, lol.
>>220515621 I think I would have preferred a Jaws copy to the retarded sci-fi plot they came up with. Every time I was getting into the film it would inject something so cartoonish as to make me wonder if I was watching capeshit.
>>220515604 Two types of pedos: those who exclusively like children, and those who like kids because they like every type of woman there is, and like every part of their bodies, too. I've never met one of the former and have met plenty of the latter. True cineastes know the best combo you can get is little girl + voluptuous mommy.
Survived somehow, just took 3.5 days of being bedridden, vomiting, and trying not to die. Not being on the internet for those days made me realize something important. So, at least something good came out of it.
What did I miss while I was fighting off the grim reaper?
>>220515604 It's touch-starved desperation leading to constantly worsening degeneracy and mental illness. They obsess over the stink of sweat, yeast, piss, bacterial musk, and dirty ass, genuinely convincing themselves these abhorrent scents are actually heavenly aromas.
>>220515661 >What did I miss while I was fighting off the grim reaper? Amanda Fix's new kino, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival to widespread acclaim and received a 9 minute standing ovation. Amanda Fix herself was named the most promising young actress at Cannes.

I just saw Obsession and it was abysmal, I hated it. Zoomer slop that made no sense at all. Total whiplash after seeing Hokum the week before, which is the best new horror film I've seen in years.
>>220517938 There was one kinda brutal death scene, but it was mostly loud blaring BWAAAAAHHHHH jump-scare noises while girl screams "WHY DON'T YOU LOVE MEEEEEE"
>>220518424 True, 90s bushy-browed Demi was peak. Reminds me a lot of 90s Andie MacDowell who I always thought would've been better casting for The Substance.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MBf9Br4eT4&t=4929s this is the most evil edit i've ever seen. picturing some recliner-ridden boomer with epilepsy convulsing in his chair and possibly dying because he chose to watch "Sharks In Venice" starring a lesser Baldwin on the Sci Fi Channel that day.
>>220519784 It means you're a vengeful idiot that should touch grass ASAP. I don't post for (You)s, I post strictly because I want to. Anyways, Pissqueer and Gadonfag are the notorious /hor/ samefags, not me. Direct your endless bitching at them instead and leave me out of it.
>>220519802 >>220519831 See, THIS is what vengeful samefagging looks like. He's so mad at me he can't even read a screenshot properly!
>>220519014 Jaws 2 is legitimately one of the most disappointing sequels I've seen. It's like a shittier exact copy of the original with more teenagers and somehow less blood and gore and thrills. It has like one novel scene with the shark destroying the helicopter and there's no reason to watch it over the original since it's basically just the 1st movie again. Jaws 3D at least has fun new ideas with the park setting, cool water sports and dolphin shots, there secretly being 2 sharks, the submarine and underwater tunnel segments, etc. Conceptually it feels way more fleshed out.
so, how's the quality of Tales from the crypt on shudder? I don't expect high quality but I hope they at least played with the colors to negate that DVD SD quality muted and darker colors
>>220520168 An anon said that they've fucked with the frame rate but that's not true, I think he just has motion smoothing enabled. Looks fine to me but my TV upscales.
