4chan's Bizarre MMOdventure is an ongoing project from a group of anons dedicated to playing through dead MMOs.
>How does it work?
Hold a tournament-style voting contest from a list of games
Play the game that wins the final round of votes for 2 weeks
After each game, we alternate lists of MMOs to vote on
A guild photoshoot will take place every Saturday, check thread for pic times
New adventure starts every other Saturday, after the week 2 guild pic
Feel free to recommend more games to be added to the lists and to encourage people to vote on a game you want to play.

ToonTown Info
>File size: ~500MB
>third person camera
>combat with cogs is turn-based
>no overall level, gag levels are the only means of progression (CC has toon leveling)
>trolley games and combat give jellybeans which can be spent on the most important side activity: fishing
>custom character names have to be approved by the server staff
>player housing, includes a garden and pet training
There are a few ToonTown servers but these two have the most players and get regular updates:
Toontown Corporate Clash
https://corporateclash.net/register
>diverges heavily from the original game
>adds more depth/difficulty to progression and cog battles
>has player clubs with exclusive quests and a club shop
>QoL features like a better camera and quest improvements
>lots of new content (cosmetics, dungeons, locations, storylines, toon races)
>HD textures included
>custom OST - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q91seGJeQlM&list=PLJhzQanB9v4JlqxPd0jc jA40HvxtxcURQ
Toontown Rewritten
https://www.toontownrewritten.com/play
>Vanilla+ server with QoL, attempts to stay faithful to the original
>one of the longest running Toontown projects
>adds a bit of new content and fixes up the existing content
>no guilds or private chat options
>custom OST - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnQrwJYtXBc&list=PL6vGNmpnr0r5YQjWkwwE eBmHo-gkyinQL
Apparently if you send them an envelope they'll mail you a TT postcard and trading cards.

It's not fair. +1 more week is scientifically engineered to lose every time because if you only play for 2 weeks, we can't shit on each other for being at endgame (which we all know is reachable on the third week, like Christ's resurrection on the third day).

This is why you need to campaign ahead and scout people who have no interest in voting to put a vote in for you. You can build a pool of people as long you don't uninstall your old games. It's that shrimple.

too much effort
just make characters with unique names between games and sign up to vote with each of them
do this sporadically though or it'll be too obvious
eventually you'll have enough votes to rig any game in your favor
i wouldn't be surprised if one of the tooners has done this seeing as they were so blatant with rigging the server choice

Could see us going the full two weeks on Corporate Clash, but Rewritten might run its course before we'd be done.
Or to word it another way, Rewritten would be an interesting visit to get an accurate view of the original, but Corporate Clash is almost certainly the better game between the two. OG Toontown is kind of shallow once the novelty wears off.

I want a certain Ultima Online fork considered for the voting pool if it sounds interesting enough.
>over 10 years, a single autist turned UO into a game that could be played beginning to end solo, polished a private server's custom map with callbacks to all the Ultima games, and released Ruins & Riches
>then two more teams of autists forked that one after the other and worked on it for 2 or 3 more years each
>Ultima: Memento is the latest fork in that chain
Compared to UO:
>Production skills are semi-automated - you can craft to a set amount, and gathering repeats itself until a node expires
>Production skills are also free to gain and don't count towards your cap
>PvP is off by default
>Champ spawns (wave battles) are in one area and initially easier, but scalable to be even crazier than the original
>there are a number of hidden "classes" that give you a new set of spells, scaling off of 3-4 skills for damage and rewarding you for specializing
>a ridiculous amount of secrets to find and atmosphere to experience
>a new roguelite mode where you start with a very low skill cap and can grow between deaths, but permanently lose gear and trained skills when you do die
We'd have three options for a server
>Official
>Probably the most active present community(though, still low), but can be assumed to have their discord chat's conduct rules ingame (I've never actually poked them on this to be honest)
>Existing /vm/ server
>no roguelike update (or really not much work lately at all, host is playing everquest), but you can say nigger
>has multiple custom parameters, including a cap on the ability to eschew materials on spells and a karma requirement for non-humans to be considered allowed to live. might have pvp on but i haven't checked
>Self host
>this is an open source game, you can just spool a shard up yourself
>roguelike is technically in the files but not officially released. it might take some work to turn on, but that could be a possibility
>>
>>2266461
i'd actually pick self host or official over the /vm/ server if only because its drawback related to casting spells makes a lot of fun playstyles way less viable when everything was mostly equal for PvE
i also can't remember if champ spawns are implemented on it either. they are on the public release for official, but i can't tell when the last time he's updated was.

also, this anon has the right take on Outlands, since i see that in the game list currently
i would heavily consider alternatives to a full PvP game considering the temper of the players on them
i do wonder how haven and hearth would go by that same notion. last time i joined a 4chan group on that it got insided, murdered, and the locks changed. for basically no reason too, the faggots just stopped playing after

Being a fan-made mod for Minecraft, I think it diverges quite far from most other games, which are free MMOs that are either obscure, forgotten or not something you'd be able to get a group to play with through a thread.
>>
>>2267327
it's the base game that's obviously dead in toontown's case, but corp clash does apparently have a dev team imploding causing it to bleed players
regardless >>2267464 is right
minecraft is extremely alive, and we ought not to consider every permutation and collection of mods a potential MMO, otherwise we'd be playing my totally unique Cobblemon Delta + BetterCombat pack that has nobody playing it because i didn't spool up a server or make the pack yet

It's been good fun so far, sparks my interest in other turn-based mmos.
thread hasn't mentioned that we are usually in the seltzer district.

things i forgot to note, since they're probably important
>player guilds are 25k gold. i can front that on either existing server. i THINK there's a guild chat, but there's also a party chat and a global chat
>there is a global chat button that's deprecated - actual global chat is achieved by using '[c message' and all chat goes through the "journal" gump window
>character creation starts you off in a gypsy's tent. you can change your species with a set of potions in there, or induct yourself into the roguelite mode, or evil/neutral races can become permanently hostile to all NPCs in exchange for 300 available skill points. none of these decisions can be made after the gypsy teleports you
