Yeah the deep fryer thing was a cartoon gag. Gangle wasn’t bothered and Ragatha just had a bandaid in the next scene.
The real asshole behaviour in that interaction was the fact that Gangle has an ounce of control over an adventure for once and Jax’s first instinct is to try and rip it away from her by being an asshole (and then quickly gets a taste of being her bitch for a change).

my theory is that we will see Jax unintentionally "leave" the circus but it would be too risky to since the process is very painful and there's no guarantee they'll live after

I feel like it also fits as a sort of absurdist view of life.
Jax’s cope that they’re all just cartoons is literal to the setting, but is also analogous to garden variety dissociation/solopsism/nihilism. His first panic attack being undercut but Disappearing Guy felt true to the absurdism of real life in the sense that you might have your little meltdown moments that feel all consuming at the time but then you remember where you are and that you’re alone with these experiences in your head. And being at the behest of an AI god, or no god, and trying to make peace with your single, limited life after your dreams have been stripped away by circumstance, trying to find meaning despite it.
